Who cares? It’s not really relevant to the article. All Chuck has to do is beat whoever the UFC put in front of him.
Cro Cop v Liddell would be sweet though.

I think this topic came up a while back. The actual polish is used so they don’t chip or crack.
The colour? Only Chuck knows why…

He fought twice. In Elimination 2003 he fought Overeem and scored a solid KO in under 5 minutes. He was then TKOed in Final Conflict. Both were good fights, worth a youtube if you have the time. They were on separate dates but I guess they were both the same tournament, was this what you meant?
Nope, three. He knocked out Guy Mezger at Pride 14. Brutal fucking knockout too, his leg folded up and fucked his ankle just like Gonzaga-Mirko.

Correct there Donut. See MMA record below.
Ha! I did not start watching PRIDE until 2002. I guess I should check fightfinder next time. Just watched the fight. Not bad.

Yeah, I bought the Pride Legacy DVD’s to cover the early years that I missed. There are some classics on there, and 5 events on each set for $18 is a bargain.

No one thought that. We just think you’re trying to let us know you’re, like, totally a really big fan.

How hard is it to look up shit on Wikipedia before posting:

Brilliant analysis.
Is this Sherdog? If this is what can be expected in these threads, I can see why there is no separate MMA section. The forums have enough know-nothing douche bags already. MMA topics seems to attract such people in even great number and proportion.

Or, as a life strategy, you actually do some remedial fact research before stating something as fact? Plus, you were an ass clown when you made your assertions, calling out easily the most knowledgeable person on the forum about such matters.
I know, I know… Expecting you to research and think before posting is just asking too much.
Keep watching that TV, bro – It’s obviously working really well for you.

Uh, because professional athletes goof off and do silly shit?
Not everything a person does in life is for some deep reason.

Someone’s on their rags.
I explained the reason behind the nail polish and I said only Chuck knows why he did it that colour. It probably is for the reason of goofing off and nothing deep and profound like you said.

He’s saying the article calls Liddell the greatest fighter in the world when obviously Fedor is much better. And Chuck got his ass handed to him in Pride. And he did not fight in Pride on “several occassions”, it was 1 event. You obviously have no idea what you’re talking about

Ok Jon P - time to look a total dick. Probably not for the first time in your life either…
Its a fucking article dipshit, one of which ALL mma fans should be pleased with. Some recognition in a respected publication. He IS the LHW champ - what are they gonna call him. The second or third best fighter in the world? Who the fuck wants to read an article about that guy? You clearly have only been watching MMA since it became slightly more mainstream.
secondly, last time i checked, the word ‘several’ defined is ‘more than 2 but not many’. Hmmmmm - maybe that would be three then butt munch. Yes Chuck fought in Pride 3 (THREE) times, winning twice. Thats a 66.6% success rate. Does that equate to ‘ass handed to him’?
So, dickhead.
Tell me who does and doesnt know his stuff?
Yeah the old Pride events were classic. I think pride’s new commentary team leaves a lot to be desired. The loss of the fight professor was bad enough, but Pride without Bas is just so empty ;). I might have to take a look at the pride legacy DVDs.
Whoa man, I think you may have got my post confused with JonP’s. I don’t think I called anyone out.

Maybe for the same reason you won’t change your avatar…just to annoy people or make them wonder.
The article makes him seem like an interesting guy.
i guess i could always pretend like i’m a professional athlete and throw up a team logo.
haha, I am assuming you are just joking. I don’t think anyone thinks I am trying to pose as a proffesional athlete, especially since I have posted my height. I would have to be Earl Boykins and I wouldn’t have a Laker logo. Someone MIGHT think I am a Lakers fan though. Nice try.
cheer leader outfit it is then. how cute!

well aren’t those athletes just a funny bunch of silly willies.
and how do you know he didn’t do it for a deep reason? or are you offended because you paint your own toenails pink and wear panties for silly shit’s sake?

It was interesting.
The only problem I had with it was them stating Chuck Liddel is considered the best mmartist in the world and known all over the world.
They never heard of Fedor?
And the second biggest market for mma, Japan, uhhh he isn’t well known.
Where exactly are you coming from here - Its a chuck liddell article - Not a Fedor one!
He may not be well known in Japan - ill take your word for that, but he did fight in Pride on several occasions.
Pointless response really.
What do you mean? For the past few years Fedor has been the consensus number one fighter in the world.
I think Chuck Liddell is great, and since 2006 the best LHW in the world.
What does it matter that the article is not about Fedor? I expect ESPN to do their research. MMA is a world wide sport. Maybe if you take the view that this is a good start for mma in mainstream America media, then I can see that.
Looking at from here in Japan where we have sevearl publications dedicated to combat sports that follow leagues world-wide then I think my issues with the article can be understood.
Sp what I said is hardly pointless. Saying it was was pointless though.
otoko wrote:

It is NOT a fedor article. It is a chuck Liddell article. Think of its target audience - a large percentage of newbies becoming initiated into MMA. Like i have already posted the ommission of a key word (in this case best LHW fighter), is neither here nor there - I don’t see it as a problem, but no worries if we differ.
MMA is worldwide in terms of where its participants come from, but in terms of popularity, it still has a long way to go imo. Your observation about American media is where im coming from really.

Understood - but not everywhere is like Japan where it seems the whole country is MMA crazy and top competitors are doted on. We both have points it seems.
what is there to analyasis chief just saying that my boy cro cop would knock his ass out!

On paper Mirko should beat Chuck. But paper doesn’t fight so I don’t really know. I think if Mirko fights Chuck within the next 12 months then Mirko should win because he won’t be careless or over-confident to make up for being knocked out again in a huge letdown.
