Speak for yourself. That sounds like a contrived distinction to me.
Not contrived, it’s between our legs.
It’s about respect. Period.
This is the way I was taught. Not all females deserve respect, but women do, and giving up your comfort for them for a few moments of your life is just giving them some.

We saw this in grade school =D

There you go, part of the Canadian curriculum.

Just my $0.02.
There are many girls out there who would take advantage of you, cheat on you, and generally play you for a fool if you put them on a pedestal that high. I am glad your wife isn’t one of them.

Ah, but he said women. You are speaking of girls. There is a difference.

Well okay that’s fair enough. I still have to deal with girls…

That difference certainly isnt age.

Nope, not at all. I’ve met teenage mom’s that put 40 year old girls to shame in that department.

Same shit applies to men v boys.

When it comes down to it, part of the issue, with is whole issue, is there just seems to either be less women/men than when I was a kid, or the ideal of what makes one such is becoming too loose and fuckers need to get off my lawn. Nah mean?

I mean, I’m being flippant here, but, yes I will give my seat up for a random woman before I give it up for a random man. I have given my seat up for a man before, but the handful of times they were elderly.

I would say 9 times out of 10 the woman says “no thank you” and we go about our day, and the times they do take them, they look pretty greatfull.

I have never once done it as a put down, and the fact a woman might take it that way makes me laugh. If you have so little going on in your life a gesture like this needs to be taken to this degree and is seen as a put down to anyone, woman or man, I don’t envy how boring your world really is.

I don’t think anyone here is arguing offering up your seat to only women is a big deal or even offensive.

But these behaviours do all stem from a core belief or set of beliefs you hold about the opposite sex. Deep down you (and those who agree with you) likely believe:

 1. Women, like children are less capable than men.

 2. Women, like children are more important to society than men.

The 2nd was true for most of human history, so it wouldn’t surprise me if on some level it’s natural to feel that way.

It is certainly more along the lines of 2, but I would be more comfortable swapping out the word “more” for the word “very”.

IDK, I mean my grandfather would have slapped the red off my lips if I sat there and let a woman stand without at least offering her the seat. (Again, assuming by what outward appearance you had to go on, she deserved it.)

That being said, had she turned around and bitched like the chick in OP, he would be say I made the right choice from the get go by not giving it to her.

If she expects it, she is being a jerk, and yelling at dude is a douche move.

Men in Taiwan make men in N. America look like Sir Lancelot.

They will not stand for pregnant women, old women, nuns, and not even for pregnant old nuns.

Seriously though, they won’t stand for any women. Usually when an old person gets on it’s another woman that will stand first.

I’m not kidding that I’ve seen women stand up so that boys can sit…and I don’t mean toddlers…I eman 10 or 12 year-olds that can hold the rail just fine.

I have a couple of pics of really rude behavior I took…lemme find them…

Well, narcissism is on the rise, especially, you guessed it, among strong independent wominz ™.

She said she had a eureka moment when she read a recent article about the rise in narcissism among women.

According to the American research, there has been a 67 per cent increase in it over the past two decades, mainly among women.

An estimated ten per cent of the population suffers from narcissism as a full-blown personality disorder.

The symptoms include: a grandiose sense of self-importance; the belief that he or she is special or unique and in some way better - either intellectually or physically - than others; a requirement for excessive admiration; a sense of entitlement, whether to fame, fortune, success and happiness or simply to special treatment; enviousness of others or a belief that others are envious of him or her; an inability to empathise; an inability to admit a mistake; and haughty behaviour or attitude.

People love to pretend they don’t notice older people standing up by looking at their phones, because we all forgive those who have their face in a goddamned phone all day.

Another one…I should mention that in the previous pic I did tell the guy that there was an elderly woman…he pretended that he just noticed her but I saw him see her when she got on and he pretended to be very interested in his phone.
This pic here I recall some other woman told the kid sitting down to get up.

lol read about this the other day.

This one takes the cake.

These are only the pics I captured…I see this kind of thing every day many times. If I started kicking every jerk’s ass I’d need a shitload of bubble gum.

A gentleman would stand. A lady would not ask.
