I think that Thomas Jefferson put it the best.

“If people let the government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as a sorry a state as the souls who live under tyranny.”

that sums up exactly why this country is so overweight with the government supporting soybeans, corn/high fructose corn syrups and sugar cane.

nice quote.

Sounds like Jefferson. He had so many great quotes. I think he was probably the most liberty loving President. He would roll over in his grave if he knew how the people took their liberties for granted and turned them over to the tyrants who have been running the show for some time.

I think it’s cool how social relevance doesn’t change even two hundred plus years later. A very good quote.

ah yes, but think how many times America’s forefathers are brought up to justify some new policy? I honestly think if they were here they’d hang half the administration for treason. But yes, its always interesting to see how in a completely different society something that was said over 200 years ago has such a profound truth.

Here is another great Jefferson observation. This has to do with the world affairs in his time: “We believe no more in Bonaparte’s fighting merely for the liberties of the seas than in Great Britian’s fighting for the liberties of mankind. The object is the same, to draw to themselves the power, the wealth and resources of other nations.” My how things never seem to change.
