Eminem Sucks

The song with Rhianna, ‘The Way You Lie’, is a really good song, because it artfully tells a story about a desperate break-up, followed by a twist ending. The ending really makes the song, because it finishes the quatrain, and then continues without instrumental, creating an atmosphere of suspense, followed by an ironic betrayal of everything that occurs previously in the song (and tie her to the bed and set the house on fire), which also ties in beautifully with the hook. (just gonna stand there and watch me burn/well thats alright because I like the way it hurts).

I’m just going to leave this here…I’d really like to hear you describe any one of Lady gaga’s hit songs, seriously…
Can’t tell if serious or if this is a serious backhanded compliment.

Well played, sir.

Underrated song. Another standout from his first album:

See the closest thing on the new Em album to that^, was Going Through Changes, and it wasn’t that close. Straightforward lyrics that anyone could get instantly, but still a well written song.

Eminem is good, but Atmosphere is better

…Huh?

They’re both really good, I mean, Atmosphere has an excellent grasp of the art of storytelling, and he works in really good punchline couplets, but Eminem’s flow is on a whole 'nother level. Atmosphere will work in some internal rhyme when it works, but its not his strongpoint. Eminem casually uses assonance three or four times in any given line without breaking a sweat. Eminem plays around with phrases (off the top of my head, ‘Come back, like nut on your spine’ from ALMOST FAMOUS, 'Call me freak, cuz I like to spit on these pussies ‘fore I eat’em’ from NO LOVE, ‘quit playing with the scissors and shit, and cut the crap’ from NOT AFRAID) changing the meaning from its casual idiom to fit the context of his song, either by making the metaphorical literal or the literal metaphorical. Atmosphere doesn’t. I mean, sure, he can probably do it, but hes not known for it. In virtually every metric of style, aside from casual taste, Eminem has Atmosphere beat.

There’s a reason Eminem signed with Interscope and Atmosphere is still on an indy label, and its not just Slugs willingness to fuck a major label till it limps.

…and most in this thread are not. I think that solves the problem. I doubt most of the people typing that shit scream “hip hop” in their demeanor, their style or their speech. They are the average guy who wasn’t even the original audience barking about how much it sucks.
I’m blown away by the level of hate for Eminem. What the fuck you people want? For him to keep rapping about living in the trailer park that he doesn’t live in anymore? Is that REAL enough for you?

I hate when cats start calling this guy or that guy a sell out, especially when they’re like Eminem and actually rap about real shit, not about their pinky rings and expensive gifts.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say most of the people commenting on this are probably pretentious white people who hate anything as soon as it’s not “underground” anymore, and dig only that backpacker bullshit that nobody listens to.

But regardless, how you can hate on Eminem, especially for making a pretty solid song with Rihanna that a whole shitload of people can identify with, is beyond me. Especially in the days where Lil Wayne literally puts together nonsensical words and phrases just because they rhyme, and then is called one of the best out there by a bunch of 14 year old retards.

I haven’t Em’s album yet but I liked what I’ve heard on the radio, and those are generally the weakest but catchiest songs. I haven’t really heard anything from him that I didn’t like though, so I’m not that worried about it.

Stop hating you fuckin retards. If anything he’s a much stronger artist now then he was when he put out “My name is.” You listen to that shit now and it really sounds like little kid stuff… which is probably why we all liked it back when it came out…when we were kids…

But I thought its cause they WANT to be poor? Cause, you know, it helps with the hipsters, who are the pretentious white people who also want to be poor that buy their records.

LMAO you get way to emotional about people hating music that you like even though 90% of the people posting here love Eminem.
Eminem is in fact a little bitch, he has made so many disses to tons other people,he bitches about how much kim hurt him when there are millions of other women out there and 1/3 of Americans get divorced, claimed that G-Unit is going to “Gun up” Ja Rule, and he cries when people censor him. He has claimed to be the realest rapper (in the song “we the realest label”) when in fact he is a studio gangster who works for Jimmy Iovine.

BTW i do admit he technically is a talented lyricist and a can freestyle like a mother fucker.

this is way better than eminem lol

Good post.

I seriously doubt this website attracts a true hip hop crowd in majority…and once again, if you were fucking 13 years old when he first came out or younger, no one really cares that you think “hi my name is” was his best work. It wasn’t and never was. It was how he got onto MTV despite having darker shit on the same album.

His last two cds were shit. He lost me as a fan during that time period for the most part. Why? because songs like Till I Collapse were always some of his best and longest lasting real hits, not the comical shit that got him on the Carson Daly show.

Uh, yeah, I’ll go check out A tribe called quest…because I didn’t grow up with them long before Q-Tip split away for his solo career.

That’s alright, kid. I think I will get my future Hip Hop advice from people a little more “street” than you.

Some of these posts are a joke.

You know…if you are the type who locks their door when they drive by some projects, you probably share a different taste in music than myself.

This is either the dumbest post, or the best post, that I’ve seen on these forums in awhile. Touche to you sir if you said this on purpose to clash with all of the comments above about… well exactly what you posted.

This homeless guy on the corner of my street is the best rapper alive, but he doesn’t accept handouts cause he’s stickin it to society, street for lyfe.

listen to this hook (:01-:43)

this is what makes 90’s hip hop better than any other era/generation of it

I don’t think you get it. You are speaking to someone who actually grew up with that, not some kid who is looking back at music they never actually experienced. I seriously doubt you can even relate to much of what any rapper from the 90’s was talking about. I also doubt anyone looking at your life would see similarities to that culture at all.

Listening to music apart from any relation to the culture surrounding it is not the same thing.

i was actually sharing a great piece of music and my opinion, nothing more, nothing less
brutalmouse wrote:

You could have kept the opinion part, much like every other guy in this thread who would feel out of place in the same neighborhoods most of this music was borne out of…and mind you, skin color is not the issue here. There are quite a few “hood” white dudes running around who probably know this music backwards and forwards more than I do.

What gets me is the “indie lovin’ backpack artist” crowd who love to pop up randomly to tell the world what does or doesn’t suck.

If you grew up in some really nice suburban neighborhood where your closest exposure to gang activity and drugs was some distant vision on tv, stop thinking you can really relate to much of any of the rap music coming out in the early to mid 90’s. It is nothing more than a catchy beat and some words you may or may not truly understand.

well i feel that this is a very suitable thread for voicing your opinion about hip hop, being that the name of it is Eminem Sucks
