Brisk two mile walk with Louie, and then helped load and unload six pickup trucks for the move. Now waiting to have a beer and a snack out with both sons before heading home.

Thats a whole lot of lifting and loading!

Definitely cashing in on the gains you’ve made. :+1:

Didn’t have it in me to lift yesterday post-moving, and now husband is out of town all week, so focus has to be on walking Louie on both sides of the workday. I guess I’m going to have more Christmas deload than expected. I may try to get a workout in after work tomorrow, we’ll see. Trying not to stress it. I’ve offered to help the sons move on Friday, and then we’re headed to my stepdaughter’s in MA on Saturday, I think - life just has to take priority right now I suppose.

So two mile walk with the dog. It was really beautiful - we started in the pitch black and got to enjoy the dawn. It was a calm 15° with the occasional snowflake. Yesterday was too bitter for much time outside, so this was nice.

We’re going to have a big warm-up, and I’m sorrowful about it. The current snow, maybe 8" is super fluffy and Christmas-y, and that’s going to get ruined. Sad trombone.

It happens. Enjoy the time off.

We are warming up too. All the snow will be gone by Christmas. I’m dreaming of a soggy brown Christmas…

Started writing this in the T-ransformation thread, then realized it belongs here.

Oh, what a relief! I mean, not that it’s the end of the world to take some pics, but I woke up at 4:30 this morning and started fretting about all the things…wrapping, the telehealth session I squeezed in for Friday before helping with a move (because patient has just been released from her 8th or so stay on the psych unit and needs to be scheduled) and am I really showing up on Saturday for a Christmas celebration three hours away with no cookies? Anyway, I was going to grab the pics, because I knew TrainForPain had a timeframe that gave him some relief from the holidays and assumed it was an earlier rather than later one.

But I’ll relax and do some paperwork, then give the dog a long walk today. Company leaves on the 27th, and then I have an entire week off with no firm plans.

Another two mile walk. I thought we’d have time for more, but a neighbor’s dog found us, and I had to drag Louie back to their house while the other dog, a big shaggy thing, raped him (twice!). Like, I’m pulling on Louie’s leash with the other dog hopping along humping him. Then a chat with the neighbor, who didn’t recognize me - I realized later that it was probably the headlamp in my hat shining in his eyes that caused him to cower away from me - and then back to the walk, where four deer went leaping across the road, sending Louie into TANK MODE on the somewhat icy road.

YES. At least, I hope so!

It’s supposed to be 80 here :sob:

We’re supposed to have drenching, flooding rain here tomorrow, with 25+ mph winds. And I’m supposed to help my boys move. Last Friday I did it in the snow. With stone steps, maybe 8 altogether, with jagged edges. Sketchy as hell. We had to keep pouring snow melt on them.

Big rains are a problem because it’s been below zero lately and so the ground is frozen and won’t absorb the water. So cue “mud season” before temps drop back down in the afternoon, so cue “skating rink with jagged edges” and white knuckle drive home.” Sad trombone!

But they’ve both taken the day off, so I will of course be like “no problem! it’ll be fun!” :grimacing:

Be safe. Slip & falls are the worst.

Sounds rough. Be safe.

I’m enjoying the weather in Tennessee right now. I hate winter and summer. I wish Fall was year round.

Two mile walk.

Today is the most gorgeous day EVER. Sunny and 40°. (Morning walk was dark and 18°, lol, but I’ve been outside a couple of times today during work because it’s irresistible.)

Last day of work until 1/6, though I’m going to take hours of paperwork home with me to knock out at some point. My Pittsburgh son’s cat had a stroke on Tuesday, and they aren’t sure she can travel or be left home with a cat sitter. Maybe! But maybe not. I’ll be super sad if they can’t come, but I guess if they don’t I’ll be able to get my workouts in next week.

She’s old. My daughter-in-law described her as looking like “bad taxidermy” and it was both hilarious and true. She kind of looked that way when she was freshly rescued in 2019, too. Very small, and her coloring is…odd. She’s always needed butt checks, because she tends to have little poop balls stuck to her. When we were there last month she was laying on my son’s lap and when she got up left two behind. He just changed his shirt and moved on. She’s like the world’s most awkward creature, and very needy and sweet. They love her desperately.

She didn’t even seem to notice Louie until he accidentally jumped onto my husband while she was in his lap. Then she made outraged screams and wiggled dramatically, which terrified him and then everyone was making outraged noises and wiggling dramatically.

I’m hoping they bring her, poop balls and all, though it’s a long trip, and they have the dog as well. Because while I completely understand and support their priorities, I’ll be devastated if they don’t come.

This was my sweet Punkin the last year of her life. She was a bag of bones and she peed in the same spot several times a day (kidney disease) so she had cat litter matted to her butt and stuck in her back paws. Terribly hard to clean off of her. I hope they end up making it so you can have your time with them. I truly am sorry for the cat. It’s so hard to see something you love drifting towards the other side.

Ack, now I’m all teary over Buttons, our good, good girl (dog) who died in March.

I haven’t been getting enough sleep and it was a very busy week at work - and at home as well, I guess, because husband was gone, so I was on wood stove and Louie and drag boxes in duty while trying to track end of year stuff for my practice and manage endless texts and calls about either “can’t come, too busy!” or “have to come, falling apart!”

Tomorrow we leave for my stepdaughter’s house for the weekend, but today we help the moving sons (today is the day with the truck rental) while:

…HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON… WHAT…South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected. … IMPACTS…Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Scattered to widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. ADDITIONAL DETAILS…The strongest winds will occur between 8 AM and 1 PM

So I guess we’ll get the pots of water ready before we go in case the power goes out (our well uses power).

We had the high wind Wednesday. Eighteen tractor trailers tipped over between Malad Pass and Pocatello. We were fortunate, not as bad where I live. If Idaho is the 11th windiest state, I would hate to see what the windiest state goes through.

Workouts are out the window, but hopefully the three days of moving sons is helping with that. I was pleased to note that while I’m not strong, I never have been, and I felt that I did as well as I might have in my 30’s. It felt like victory.

Meanwhile the Louie walks have continued. Visiting my stepdaughter, I wished I’d brought my running shoes - flat suburban streets with no ice would behave been a treat for both the dog and me. But alas, I had hiking boots with me because that’s what I’m used to wearing here. At any rate, steps remain in a good place.

Snow is falling gently, which is pretty, though I worry a bit about my travelers. Hopefully the roads will be good. Pittsburgh is en route, and will be here for dinner, good Lord willing and the creeks don’t rise, while the others will start arriving at 2.

I lost a couple of pounds at my stepdaughter’s house, because nearly every single thing I ate was carbs, and I was eventually a little grossed out. The weight came back, though, and will undoubtedly continue to increase, but it’s three days of excess, so the world won’t end.

Merry Christmas, meatheads!
