Emily's About-Time Training Log

Have you noticed any changes with taking creatine?

I can’t say, really, because I started it in the midst of so many other changes. I think I added it in right around the switch to the CG workouts. Let me see if I can scroll back and find it…

Haha, now I’m sucked into rereading my entire summer, starting at June 1. What a mess! Apparently the creatine arrived on July 31st, but I was going to wait for the weight I’d gained to drop before starting it.

Wow, as I continue to read, I want to thank all of you for your support through my ex’s death and the blood-spraying dog and my sciatica.

Got it! I started creatine on September 20th, lol.

…so now that I’ve read my entire log June 1 to yesterday, I have no idea what the creatine has been doing. I rarely struggle with DOMS, which it looks like I did occasionally early in my CG journey, but I haven’t had enough time I think to tell.

Hope you feel better today.

We are here for ya. I log these things to use as a barometer of sorts. When I go back and reread them it helps me make decisions about how things are now vs then. I think it is just as important as the actual lifting.

I completely agree. I post with four female friends in a private message board, and have now for almost 30 years (though early days we were in public spaces). It’s a shared diary. I love dipping back into 10 years ago and reading what was my focus then in terms of emotional/work/family. :slightly_smiling_face:

Felt good! And also thought I was looking pretty good (relative) while doing it.

Day 18/30 Iron - glutes - with a 7 minute cardio warmup. An hour in the woods with Buttons and the husband. Climbed around a bit, but of course slowly.

I feel fantastic. The hike was sunny and a nice warmup, as well as peaceful and relaxing. We were out yesterday, too, but it was windy and bitter and I underdressed for it. Today I had to peel layers off.

Run/walk 2.25 miles in 30 minutes. Ran more than I walked except for warmup and cooldown. Agile 8.

Feels so good.

Day 19/30 Iron - full body - with 7 minute cardio warmup. Excellent.

After that things went downhill. I was making the bed before I showered and my MacBook was on it and wound up sliding off and hitting my toes like a guillotine. Broke the middle toe. Then I wound up rushing around because I had to text and then talk to my husband, to whom I had to report the Significant Injury and from whom I of course expected a “poor baby.” But that took time I didn’t have, so then I became more and more frazzled because we have company tonight so I was trying to clean up after myself as I prepped lunch and made breakfast. Then (and this is the worst part) I spilled some of my eggs!

And it just kept going. Got behind someone on a 35mph road, which I’m on for probably 7 miles, and the guy didn’t seem to realize that we’re allowed to go the entire speed limit. Generally traffic flows at about 40 on that road. Not today!

Squeaked into work just in time for my first patient, who had just called to cancel.

I think your first patient had the right idea: you need to cancel today. Or request a mulligan.

Only solace is that, when you start out that rough, it should (hopefully) only get better from here!

Ouch! Rough morning, it poured on you. I hope awesome things are in your near future.

Oh no! That hurts like hell!
I agree, just call off the rest of the day.

I totally agree with everyone else. Just be done with today. Sometimes it’s better to call it and start over tomorrow!

I hope your toe doesn’t hurt too badly and that you heal quickly!!

Thank you! It may be healed already! It still looks gnarly, but it hasn’t bothered me at all and we’ve been out playing in the snow quite a bit.

Go to just under the “reply” button and click the button that should say “watching,” but yours must not (choices are watching, normal, tracking). Usually we’re put on tracking (I think) when we respond in a thread. And then if you get sick of being notified (this happens to me with PWI a lot, and I can’t/don’t want to keep up) you select normal, or whichever fits the bill.

We lost power at around 7:30 on TG night (company had just gone) and pretty much went right to bed with full bellies and books, and were asleep by maybe 8:15. Stayed that way pretty much for 12 hours. Part of it was that neither of us wanted to get up in the cold and deal with it, but whatever, it was the most sleep at one time I can remember recently. Eventually got up, got the wood stove going and the wood box filled, got a box organized for the stuff coming out of the fridge, cleared the car and the walk, and had a fantastic day. Spent two hours out in the woods, which was BEAUTIFUL. The power came back at about 6 last night, but we chose to continue our power outage day because we were so happily settled in with candles and drinks and music and a fire in the wood stove and ribeyes and asparagus for the grill.

Got it! Thanks.

Glad your injury was canceled and everything else was so good. :hugs:

Day 21/30 Iron - legs - 15 min/1 mile warmup. This one felt brutal, but now it’s done.

I’m fighting the siren song of the holidays. Some part of me is calling “cookies and lethargy! yolo!” but not too loudly yet. I’m sort of telling myself that when I finish Iron - two weeks if I stick the schedule - I can take a break of some sort. Either take the following two weeks completely off or pull back a bit and surf until the end of the year. We’ll see.
