On deads, force the weight off the floor, never coax. Nice set.
OUTSTANDING! I wish I could do that.

And I wish I could squat 405 for 3.
HAHAHA!

5/3/1 Deadlift Day:

Here’s the vid:
Despite having eggs and oatmeal 90 minutes prior I felt as if I was starving. My shoulder lockouts on that last set weren’t great (ah, the joys of video), but I got about the reps I wanted.
Followed up with a superset of:
GHRs: BWx8x3
Weighted decline sit-ups: BW+45x20x2, 12
I’m beat![/quote]
Dude, nice pulling!
On another note-- those machines in the background, over your left shoulder— they look all the world to me like “Jesus-head PEZ Dispensers”… Does anyone else see this??

Stop wishing and start lifting, said the couch potatoe!

Hadn’t noticed, and I’m not going to tell anyone for fear the gym’ll be inundated with people believing it’s something akin to the toast miracle. They’re just standard lower body machines. Don’t go over there much.

You mean I’ve actually got to do some work for that? I may have to rethink my goal of world domination in that case.
You should probably rethink that anyway. The world really isn’t worth dominating. Too much of a pain in the @ss!
What are we gonna do tonight Brain?

LOL…I didn’t think about “Pinky and the Brain.” I guess, if he was allowed to age, Stewie could take over the world by…say…5 years old. And, yes, I detest much of the humor on “Family Guy” (don’t get me started), but Stewie is awesome.
I was thinking of Napoleon, Hitler, Stalin, Mao Tse Tung, Skeletor, Sauron, Cobra (GI Joe, not the Stallone flick), Dr. Evil, etc… You see, it always ends badly. I guess you could end up like Alexander, or one of the Caesars, and die before you see your empire fall.
You mean Galaxie wasn’t referring to my highly-regarded (in discerning circles) intellect? You lost me on the Family Guy humor; don’t watch it. Skeletor on the other hand…
5/3/1 Bench
Went in with a bit of head cold (just hoping it’s not the strep my wife has), so I knew it wasn’t going to be a great lifting day.
Bench: Bar x8x2, 115x3, 135x3 (wu), 150x5, 175x5, 200x6
I wanted 8 on that last one, and I’m pretty sure I could have gotten another, but I really didn’t feel like pushing it today.
Paused band presses (decided to try these out for thrills today; it’s like a two for one offer for exercises: paused bench AND band press) I don’t know what the weights ended up being, but I think it was about 245 on top and 205 on the bottom. I did about 5 sets of 3.
And supersetted them with chins/pull-ups, and finished off with fat bar curls and towel hammer curls. My forearms got a good workout at least.
For someone that’s sick, that’s strong. Ive never tried bands. DO you like them? Did you buy them, or are thy the gyms?

Thanks, G, you’re too kind. I’ve felt wiped out all day. Hopefully I’ll be mostly recovered for squatting on Monday!
The bands are mine. I’ve used them a lot for assistance exercises in the past and like them, but this is first time for any kind of pressing. It’s a very strange feeling, because as you’re moving the weight up there’s no one point where it magically feels heavier (i.e. you can’t feel the bands kick in); it just seems smooth all the way up. I was mostly just messing around with it today, but it worked out OK: the benefits of a paused press and a pin press all in one. I also felt like I could watch my form more with them, but that was probably just me concentrating better.
5/3/1 Squat
Feeling a lot better compared to last Friday.
Back squats: BW x5, 135x5, 185x3 (wu), 200x5, 230x5, 260x7 (I sort of blanked out midway through; it might have been 8, but mostly likely 7, and definitely wasn’t 6!)
Concentrated on hip drive, elbow position, and forcing the neck into the bar. Overall form was good, I think, but I didn’t capture it on video for posterity. One short of where I wanted to be, but above first wave of last cycle, so overall not bad. If I improve this cycle like I did last, then I’ll be happy.
Followed this up with Zerchers:
185x3 (first time doing these, so I wasn’t sure what to expect; my legs were shot after the back squats, so I didn’t get far on these), 135x10x2
Those last two sets were also tough. I could barely walk straight after each one. Felt great, and I can see how these really help BS form.
Finally, did some shovel deadlifts, one plate on the bar x10x3. Abs, obliques, and glutes are all worn out now.
Shovel DLs are nasty.

Load a plate (in my case one 45) or two on one side of a bar, and pick it up like you’re DLing it. In my case, it feels like a good abs/obliques/single-leg DL. Which I think is how it’s supposed to feel.
Where did you hear about them?
