Sorry, Skid, I’ll be sure to use the standard [sarcasm][/sarcasm], [irony][/irony], and [just plain stupid humor][/jpsh] tags more diligently.

What I was really trying to say was that I can’t believe I was such a poor reader and didn’t pick up on Wendler’s exact logic. I think I’m in the ballpark on the weights, but I’ll have to go back and take a re-look-see. Thanks for pointing that out.

No problem - I got it. I wasn’t offended. I just have to bow to your superior wit is all.

No sarcasm.

Really.

Good. Now that we’ve got that straight…

Day 2 of Deload Week.

Did some back squats, side bends, deadlifts, and cable pull-throughs.

I’ve never done a proper deload, so my faith in them is pretty weak. I’m afraid I’ll lose some strength. Today I did more than the program called for, but just enough so I felt like I’m not going to totally fail next week.

We’ll see what happens.

Monkey not with the deload. I screwed mine up by doing too much and it’s hurting my squat this cycle.

You’re right. Just hard to deal with. Remembering your experience, I didn’t do near the volume you did, though, so I’m hoping I’m OK. We’ll see next week.

I do stupid and self-destructive things so you don’t have to…

What’s that saying: “If you can’t make yourself a shining example, I guess you’ll just have to stand as a horrible warning?”

Skid, lesson learned (the easy way).

Last deload day. Did some speed bench, which felt great, then a few pull-aparts, wide grip pull-ups, fat bar curls, and rear delt flys.

I think that was it. Absolutely can’t wait to get in on Monday.

That’s a really good sign. I was feeling the same way before training today. Prime indicator that you’re going to kill some weights that day.

Cycle two, OHP 5/3/1

OHP: 45x8, 65x5 (wu), 90x5, 105x5, 115x12, 85x50x5

Almost had 13 on the last working set, and I was hoping for 10, so very happy with 12. This puts the 1RM at 160, which I definitely don’t believe, but I’m happy nonetheless.

Followed this up with band pull-aparts (actually supersetted with the last 5x10 on OHPs), and a superset of dips and curls.

Shoulders are tired. Mission accomplished.

Nice pressin’ sfp! and the assistance work - wow 50 sets of 5 reps?

Yeah, exactly.

No, not at all. But I wish. That should have been 5 sets of 10 reps.

Nice OHPs!

Great work! You just keep on climbing the ladder…
I love OH presses, even if they aren’t my best exercise. I’m looking forward to my turn at 5/3/1, so they are more emphasized.

Thanks Steely and Strick. They’re by far my worst, which is really saying something! I used to be a bit better at them, but I still think I’m improving.

Worst or not, it is great progress. Just think…you did 12 reps of OH press with 25# more than you benched, when you first started back. THAT is awesome!

5/3/1 Deadlift Day:

DLs: 135x5, 225x3x2 (wu), 260x5, 300x5,340x9

Here’s the vid:

Despite having eggs and oatmeal 90 minutes prior I felt as if I was starving. My shoulder lockouts on that last set weren’t great (ah, the joys of video), but I got about the reps I wanted.

Followed up with a superset of:

GHRs: BWx8x3
Weighted decline sit-ups: BW+45x20x2, 12

I’m beat!

Dude! You made those look easy…like strolling through the park.
Also, I am sure it was the camera angle, but you looked like you were 6’6" or so.

Thanks, Strick! This is the first 5/3/1 wave, so they aren’t too heavy. We’ll see how they look at 380, which is where I finish the cycle. I’d like to get the same number of reps there, too.

As for height, I’m a strong 5’11" (%&! I’ll never catch Skid in anything!).
