Elbow/Joint Pain

First, a little background information. I am 22yrs old and was big into lifting in highschool. I was forced to take a break due to tendonitis/forearm pain. I have overcame that but now I am experiencing pain in my elbows. It doesn’t hurt when I do biceps or shoulders but when I do triceps I will get a sharp pain in my elbow.

I have started taking fish oil, flax seed, and Mona-vie Active which contains glucosamine and condroitin, hoping this will help a little. I have also done some research and am going to try the “super 7” www.hughston.com/hha/a.seven.htm

Besides from this, would you guys please voice your opinions on what else should I be doing?

I really want to get back into lifting, and will do anything to achieve this.

Thanks a lot.

I have similar pain, working on my shoulder has helped a lot. Specifically this stretch;

I use a rolled up bath towel because I haven’t got a stick wide enough for my flexibility.

I get a big relief from my bout of tendo if I do a lot of wrist strengthening exercises such as wrist curls and rev wrist curls. Maybe there is an association to the weak wrist and forearm muscles and getting tendo. Try it out see if it works for you. By the way use a lighter than usual weight when doing this. Go for high reps, this usually works for me. Possibly getting more blood in the area?

That works for eblow/joint pain?

Anyone else?

I wanna get as many opinions as possible.

I appreciate it. Thanks.

Just repeating what my Doc told me so don’t take this as personal advice…

Pain in the elbow as you’ve described ‘could’ be tennis elbow and a similar pain on the forearm side ‘could’ be golfers elbow.

I’ve had/have both - Doc prescribed NSAID’s - 1 per day and advised me to lay off the arm training until completely healed (which I haven’t yet) and I also found a degree of relief from rolling a tennis ball (or similar) with pressure, around teh affected area. Seems to loosen things up. I do that before each training session and then also use hand grips to exercise the forearms prior to training.

Presume Flameout wouldn’t hurt your cause either. I take 4 a day. The best effort so far seems to be total rest until healed, then gradually ease back into it, with caution.

I had a little tendo a while ago on my right elbow , I guess from an imbalance biceps>triceps.
It took almost two months to heal.
I completely stopped curls for those two months and I used an anti-inflammatory on my elbow

Things I have done to help with elbow tendonitus:

warmup your elbows good (high rep miniband pushdowns etc)
use liniment
wear elbow sleeves
not neglecting biceps work
