GROUND UP MALE CHICK= McDONALDS CHICKEN NUGGETS =D
GROUND UP CHICKS= McDONALDS CHICKEN NUGGETS
seriously people (humane society) these chicks are dying INSTANTLY, squiggles is totally right, its the grinder or fuckin a gun or something, some way, theyre gonna die, it sucks to be like that, but do YOU want to raise 100000000000000000000000000000 roosters tillyou die? I dont

ahah, this is priceless and quote-worthy

“We have to ask ourselves if these were puppies and kittens being dropped into grinders, would we find that acceptable?” asked Nathan Runkle, the group’s executive director, at a news conference in Des Moines. “I don’t think that most people would.”
Do we eat puppies and kittens? What are they supposed to do take them home and raise them?
How does whether or not we eat that species of animal have any bearing on whether that species is treated with compassion or not?
Its a shame they can’t tell the sex before they hatch… all i see is thousands of former eggs being needlessly wasted… reminds me, I need to pick up eggs on the way home.
so apparently we should also have compassion for fish, cows, deer, lambs, and any other meat that you eat. Man, maybe the vegans should also get their incisors pulled out, their eyes surgically put to the side of their heads, and anything else that makes them even remotely resemble what humans really are, a predatorial hunting machine. oh and lets not forget fucking opposable thumbs, those things werent made for txtng, they’re made for making weapons to kill animals and then eat them

I’d venture to guess that baby chicks can still experience pain. Which, I believe, would make them sentient.

The vegan says what??
I think they just do it to artificially inflate the price of chicken. They’re essentially killing a large portion of the chicken population for no good reason. “But but but…they don’t lay eggs.” Haven’t these people ever heard of a rotisserie?
Any process that involves such a huge volume always has some justifiable cruelty built into it. At least the process owners can live with it. The industry only supports so many male chickens, period. Maybe they should have an outlet store out in front and sell the roosters?
In free range farms, the ratio of roosters to hens is something like 1 to 12. So, WTF do you do with the excess? Sell them on eBay, have rooster stands on every corner?
I had an uncle that raised chickens for years in an urban setting, roosters and all. There is quite a dynamic with chickens and roosters keep the order in the yard. he sold eggs and has a specialty in raising chickens that laid brown eggs. He also sold the chicks to other chicken farmers.

I read the article and watched the video, but I couldn’t find the suggestions to make the process better, all that was there was complaints. Did I miss something?
Some animals eat other animals. It’s never pretty, cute, or humane.
In the words of Tyler Durden:
“If you wanna make an omelet, you gotta break a few eggs.”
From wiki
A capon is a castrated rooster. This procedure produces a unique type of poultry meat. The meat of normal uncastrated roosters has a tendency to become coarse, stringy and tough as the birds age.
As caponized roosters grow slower than entire males they accumulate more body fat; the concentration of fat in both the light and dark areas of the capon meat is greater than in that of the uncastrated males; overall, it is often thought that capon meat is more tender, juicy, and flavorful than regular chicken.
I mean shit.
Why can’t we raise the roosters and eat them suckers too???

After reading the article, I don’t have an issue wit it, really.
People want eggs. People don’t want to raise their own chickens. The egg industry can’t raise 200 million roosters every year. It would take forever to individually kill each chick. Also, what is more humane? A shot of something? Is there a difference between dying instantly in a grinder or dying instantly with a shot?
Yes, it is sad that that much livestock is wasted, when there are people out there who are hungry, but what are they supposed to do? Post ‘free chicken’ ads on telephone poles?
gas? painless
Not so much.
I wonder what they do with the ground up chicks… Fertilizer? Dog food? GNC brand “100% Whey” protein?
It’s a damn shame they can’t selectively inseminate the hens so that all or most chicks are born female. The odd male that sneaks through, just pop him in a fryer for a lunch treat.

Great so you are voluntering to take them in good luck. You are probably one of those people that have an abortion clinic on speed dial instead of take responsibility. I was raised on a farm there is a difference between a “pet” and “food”. So go back to a weak filled hypocritical vegan lifestyle and leave the adults alone.
