Effective bulk cycle

You can’t create mass from nothing. There’s surplus, TDEE, and deficit. It’s more than CICO agreed. So… unless you’re obese and have energy reserves to tap into your not going to create appreciable muscle tissue in a deficit.

I wholeheartedly agree with your approach described. We’re probably just getting hung up on nuances or different interpretations of the same approach.

I acknowledged that… it’s not optimal but does dispel the CICO method. And bulking (basically getting fat thinking it’ll add muscle faster) being unnecessary too

You mean a ‘lean bulk’?

Guess we should all on agree on what “bulk” actually means… historically it’s getting out of shape to add size I’d say. A lean bulk should be called something else.

Bulk means different things to different people. To me it means a growth period whether you stay lean or get fat. What does it really matter?

Why? It’s still a growth period.

Why get hung up on what other people do? I do what i do, you do what you do, others do what they do.

There are many ways to skin a cat. Doesn’t mean your way or may way of someone else’s way is better or worse. It’s just what they do to reach their goal.

Calm down guy… it’s just an easier way to standardize things and have a more productive discussion. Christ, some of you are so sensitive.

I am calm. Every time someone says “bulk” on here you get on the bulk is garbage kick. I just don’t understand why it matters. You do “growth” the way you want and call it what you want. Others do what they want and call it what they want.
This thread is not a discussion of bulk/cut.
It’s a thread about a growth cycle.

My problem is that English is a language, as is every language, developed within a civilization so that people can effectively communicate with one another. Words mean things. “Bulk” means a multitude of different things within the weight lifting community.

Stephen Covey had a “habit” that successful people should develop which is “Seek First to Understand, Then Seek to be Understood.” When a person uses the word “bulk”, what do they mean?

“Bulk” can become one half of the weight lifters Yo-Yo dieting. I have grown to refuse to use the word “bulk” when communicating with a person seeking my advice. And I won’t allow them to use the word “bulk” when explaining what they doing.

Tell that to OP. “Bulk” is in the title. And “bulk” is in the first sentence of his opening post.

“Bulk” has become the b-word of bodybuilding.

I agree with you but words have multiple meanings. Bulk in its most basic form means to get bigger/add size. The way in which a person wants to do that is their prerogative.

The title of this thread is “effective bulk cycle”.
The poster I’m having banter with turned it into a bulk is garbage thread and a you can grow in a deficit. Neither of which is answering the ops question it’s just stating one’s opinion that really has no bearing on this thread.
This is a theme for said person any time the term “bulk” is used in a thread.
