Wheres the ripped january2007 guy?lol

I just started with EDT a couple of weeks ago, after reading Muscle Logic, then buying Mr. Staley’s DVD, so I am by no means an expert at it. However…I can say that it has rev’ed up my workouts considerably. They are not as boring, and seem to be helping build my endurance.

I also like the fact that I can get a higher volume workout in a shorter time frame than compared to my old, conventional “3 sets of 10 reps” routine. I use a countdown timer to help keep me focused and on track. So far, over two weeks, I’ve dropped 4 pounds. Anyway…it’s helping me.

I am considering giving this a shot for the next few months. Anyone had great luck with it? Any tip/suggestions or should I pretty much stick with the outlined routine (from Staley’s Compound EDT article).

Thanks![/quote]

I used it with 2 clients, i found it to be particularly difficult for the type of people who don’t love to bust their ass, either just for the sake of busting their ass, or for their results.

But with the one guy who would give his all, each workout (what is difficult with EDT is the lack of changes), he did improve his composition significantly in the short time i trained him. (6 weeks)

Basically, it is tough, kinda boring, but can work if the right effort is applied!

Just wondering why you think it is boring? I have found EDT to be anything but boring.

Always trying to beat your PR is a fun way to train.

Just the 2 exercises for 15 mins like that, when i did it, just to try it mind you, i found that due to the fact i was really going for it i wasnt too bored, but then i wasn’t stimulated either! It wasnt like the feeling of completing a new lift, or a particularly difficult set with some to spare, there was no time to enjoy it i guess i mean!

It is good, dont get me wrong, and i absolutely believe in training doing a job so occasionally it CAN be more gruelling than enjoyable, but i found for myself it was… not entertaining shall we say, and for one particular client (who was young, so there was the problem) it was too back and forth, back and forth to keep his attention or more importantly his effort up.

I ALWAYS try to beat my pr, which i set the last session. So i get that buzz… i really think i didn’t feel i had TIME to enjoy it!
What i do remember though was how much it got me breathing!

I am positive i will give it a proper go after i take some time to design a program i would like.

Has anyone used the routines for successfully for gaining significant amounts of muscle? It seems like ever comment has just been about an increase in fat loss and endurance

EDT is the best variation of a workout I have ever tried. I pushed myself much harder knowing everything was timed and saw an increase in my bench and deadlift of 40 pounds each. Maybe because I was pushing myself harder but I dont know.

I do two EDT workouts a week for upper body, thinking that I would lose weight, but I’ve actually gained a bit of weight while my waist has gotten a bit smaller. Arms have grown half an inch.

I like it, it forces you to try to beat your previous workload.

I’ve embarked on EDT with body splits though…and its brutal…

15 mins - Squats/Lunges or deadlifts/good mornings
3 mins rest
15 mins - vertical/horizontal Push/Pull
3 mins rest
15 mins - Interval training

By the end of the session i’m crawling on the floor…in a pool of sweat…

Hello! I have a week of EDT under my belt…and just purchased the videos directly off of teamstaley.com for immediate access!

I hope to share my own success story soon!!

I did several months of EDT and can honestly say that they rank among my most enjoyable sessions. I plan to use it when i am cutting when i finally reach my 300lb goal. I own both the arm e-book and the DVD and they are great material.

Charles has mentioned that training like this gets you motivated to compete with yourself and that’s really true. You are pshyched to the max everytime you get into the gym.

This is kinda like DC in that you MUST be consistintly be beating your logbook. He has a really usefull way to keep stats here:

http://www.staleytraining.com/media/scoresheet.pdf

This really is a fun, effective, challenging method and it works exceptionally well! Whether it be for fat loss/muscle building or just a total and utter change of pace.

By the way, Charles’ free e-book which again i state is FREE has several fantastic articles which are very usefull, and they’ll motivate you, trust me!

Just go here:

And to the right hand side is your sign up, and bam a free book.

Besides that 2 tips, which are MOST hepfull are the following:

  1. This doesn’t get a lot of press, but we do have a “regression rule:” if you fail to hit or exceed your PR, reduce the weight by 5 pounds or 5% (whichever is more) and proceed from there.

Now, if you’re doing bodyweight for both exercises you won’t have that option, so instead, I’d recommend doing about 75% of your volume next time out, and then proceeding from there.

  1. Be conservative first time out—actually leave some breathing room for future repeats. I know that makes it seem as though your progress is artificial (since it’s based on a “PR” that isn’t a true, all-out effort), but this is what makes the system (and your progress) sustainable.

Regards to the author and his staff. EDT is a VERY good program, and for actually caring about the customer instead of just selling and forgetting about them Mr. Stanley is one of the best.

best of luck to anyone who uses it, if anyone needs some answers and cant reach any of the Stanley team then PM me i “should” be able to help.

EDT is simply my favorite training system.Great for losing weight and keeping the muscle. So simple ,but effective to the max. Be forewarned it will wear you out if done correctly.

I just finished up a month of EDT and it is definitely a great workout. I improved my conditioning a lot especially on leg day. I found that it is too much volume on a fat loss diet to maintain for much longer than a month so I am going to go traditional strength training for a couple weeks then do a different EDT program for another month.

A month on/2 weeks off seems like a great way to go at it.

Hey Jules at Staley training. Just wondering if you got your gift certificates I sent you. Give coach a shout out. LOL
