Chest Yesterday
DB fly/press hybrid - 25s for 15reps x 3 sets - slight decline
DB fly/press hybrid - 45s for 10-15 reps, supersetted with same weight squeeze press - slight incline
DB Static flys - 25lbs - hold for 10 seconds then fly up, fly slow down for a count of 4, then another 10 second hold - did aboot 5 of those per set for 2 sets
Tris
Skulls with an ez bar - 75lbs for reps - 20 or so supersetted with close grips for 10 or so. did 4 sets of those
cable pushdowns with 70 lbs - 10 second negative, 4 second hold at the top, then 1 second down, 10 second negative, 4 second hold. I do these as many as I can stand.
then called it quits - shoulder was angry.
Oh - did ab curls on the ball - like a plank, but I hold on the the bench, with my feet on the ball and curl up into an inverted crunch - this is my new favorite exercise.
I’ve been bailing on DL lately, and in reading through my log - I think I need to start having more emphasis on it - Its just such a great all over movement.
Did some Back yesterday -
when I was working on 5/3/1, the log had some progression, since i was working on numbers and working through plateus.
Its different now that I have shoulder issues and such.
so now my training is on max effort, metabolic muscle conditioning and not so much on weight.
so on back, close grip pulldowns with a 2 second down, 10 second negative then a weighted stretch at the top, 20 seconds or so - then another rep - do these till I cant do any more reps, then do a final set with no holds, but max reps till failure - failure is usually not with full rom, but whatever I have left in the tank -
I’ll do the same with some wide grip cable rows, then some one armed low cable rows.
By then I’m usually trashed and move on to Bi’s
I’m working on the whole static holds, negatives and then max reps.
Your question would be “am I seeing any gains?”
we’ll, I am on the Anabolic Diet, and my weight has held fast at just under 230 - 227 this morning. So I am not seeing any actual pump, and no change to my overall size, but I am losing BF, and the top of my abs are poking out.
Thats a good sign.

100 squats with an unloaded bar. Never rack, just rest with the bar on my shoulders. Great warmup and great pump
Paused squats at the bottom with 135. 4 second negative with 3 second pause then explode up.
Reverse lunges with an unloaded bar
One leg RDLs
Then one leg hip thrust with a 10 second hold at the top.
Then shoulders, plate lifts 45x20x4 sets with a 10 second hold at the top
45 degree lateral raises
Bus drivers with a 25
Then did some bi’s, just for good measure
All in all, great day.
wow - damn, are my legs sore! Feels great tho, and they feel strong, good to know I can hit it hard and there is no residual pain, like knees, lower back, etc.

The first few years I was training I had no growth in my legs.
I was telling a big dude in the gym that, and he asked me if I liked training legs.
I said I hate leg day
then he told me something I will never forget “Your legs will never grow until you start to look forward to leg day”
I took that to heart and it did change my mindset -

Dumbells press/flys reps and holds
Tris, supersetted skulls & close grips for reps, and added in some rope cable pushdowns with holds.
