Wut up Inky?
I love it! Simple training for a simpleton. Especially w/that calculator.
I rebooted a couple of weeks back. I threw my back out. Took a week of for xmas & than didn’t do shit for 2. I’ll try to remember what I’ve got at home, jot it down & post it tomorrow. My squat sucks rigor mortis dick on a donkey. This cycle I ran the Triumvirate. Sucks sorta, had been doing BBB. But I think after awhile it wears on the body. Going back to that next cycle but instead of 5 sets of 10, gonna give 5x5 a shot. I ain’t young & the BBB reminded me of that.
But after reading the trap bar article today & seeing how that cat said it could be subbed for squat I’m contemplating using that for my next cycle.
What’s your thoughts on that?
thanks for all the well wishes, ya’all, but it aint that bad, Mom’s having some medical issues, and I am dealing with the doctor/medical bills/etc, instead of hitting the gym.
that sounded like I’m whining, and trust me, that is far from the truth. Shit is good, just training is off, and the goals that I set have to be put off.
if that is the only problem that I have, then things are good, no?
taking care of family comes first, thats what we do.
anyway, this’ll get worked out, I’ll be back in the gym, and ya’ll be running skeered from the numbers that I’ll be putting up.
In the meantime, Print and ImHUNGry will be posting thier diet/training/lolcats…etc…
AWWW you sound like such a sweet lil guy! Sorry about yo’ momma/take care champ.

I didn’t read that article, since I don’t have a trap bar and have no desire to get one. Of all the specialty bars I wish I could buy, that is probably the last one on the list. My thoughts, would be to go ahead and use it for a cycle. Kind of like the Westside line of thinking, where you use different bars for a wave on ME work, switching out to a different bar for a cycle or 2 couldn’t hurt. Fuck it, why not right?
I have a trap bar and have used it a few times. If you get low enough (use the low handles) you can hammer your quads.
The body position takes a lot of the ham/glute work out of the movement It also takes out the upper and lower back work from squats and any core activity needed to stay tight. To me, it feels a lot like a leg press. If you use it in place of squats, you will need to supplement the trap bar work with other exercises to hit hams and back.
If you have low back issues that you are trying to work around, I think the trap bar is a great choice. Or as Inky mentioned, run it for a while or sub it in to stimulate in a different way.
^Thank you brotha.
Yeah, I’ve got issues w/lower back. I think I will sub it one cycle in replace of squats to see what happens.
Thanks for the input Inkster.
Since Edgy ain’t doin his rt now, here’s mine.
Bench-
5@75
5@95
3@115
3@125
3@145
3@165
d-bell bench-
5 set of 15 @ 35
Started doing this version of rows I read in a article on here. Incline the bench bout 40 degrees. Lie on bench w/gut, chest, & face not leaving bench. Let arms hang to floor proceed to pick up d-bells & row. This is a very humbling exp. As long as you keep tight on the bench, you will work your lats hard.
5 sets 10 @ 35 supersetted w/5 sets of 25lbs weighted chins for sets of 5. Last set drop belt & cranked out 5 more.
Ab roll outs- 10, 5,5,5,5.
That’s all she wrote.
I do what I can. What Git posted was what I was thinking, but didn’t feel “qualified” to say it since I’ve never given that bar a shot.
I liked those db rows. I need to throw a lot more “row” work in my training, build 'dem lats up!

For every push exercise you should do a pull. Take it from someone who learned the hard way.

I looked all over for the article & can’t find it. I thought that cat Bruno had written it, but I’m wrong.
It definitely hits the lats. In fact it’s the only thing it hits. You can feel the burn & the tightness rather quickly.
Print - 5/3/1 cause it is easy to manage and remember?
what are you getting out of it? stronger, more pumped?
^ Is it easy to manage & remember. But more importantly than that, it makes me incredibly handsome.
No question it has made me stronger. I dropped all my maxes this cycle 20-30lbs because of the layoff. I was making improvements every week. Even when I was doing the BBB, which I’m going back to next cycle I was kicking wt up every week on the 5 sets of 10. Which is such a huge ego & mental boost. You gotta remember I’m at 4’30 every morning & work 6 days a week up to 14hrs. So w/this application it really does make things easy & simplifies everything.
Now as far as growing… well, that’s all bout the diet & I eat like a Richard Gere gerbil. I’m working on that part of it though. Been on the Anabolic diet for a few months & really really like it. Definitely will lean you out & get rid of stubborn fat.

No matter how many times I hear this, I still haven’t made it happen regularly. I’ll really try to get on that. I might need a reminder on occasion, since I’m getting older now…

Yes Ink its hard to remember, structuring a program where you get it takes some thought and dedication.
Lovin’ the log print! I am on 5/3/1 too and I kinda just do whatever assistance I feel like…
I have done BBB in the past, maybe I’ll start doing that again for my next cycle, hmm…
EDIT: OH do you find BBB really helps your main lifts improve more quickly?
^Hey Spockie. How’s it hangin’?
No question that the BBB didn’t help my lifts. If for no other reason doing that many reps really helped me grease the grooves, & helped w/form &, speed, lockouts. & I got stronger on those lifts too. I’m in love w/BBB but my body isn’t. As I posted earlier I think I’m gonna continue the BBB but knock it down to either a 5x5 or 10x5.
& I still do some accessory work in this template.
I’m gonna check out your thread w/a little more detail next time. See how things are going.
