How crazy a lift was this? I know these guys prefer not to blow away records but the deadlift number has been crawling to this point and his last deadlift was a real grinder (thought the 500kg looked waaay better than the lift last year).
He added 10% to the world record when we’ve been seeing 1kg jumps. This is like someome rocking up to the track world championships and cracking 9 seconds in the 100m sprint.
I’m curious to see where this goes. Whether we see a bunch if lifters break the 500kgs or it stays there for a long time to come. Benni made it look possible for example…
Why risk the bicep tear, do you squat with wraps or a belt. With the big guys getting into pull position is hard ,do lack of flexibility and being huge awesome lift, the amounts of huge deadlifts has went up last 5 years good luck to him.
Too many drugs will make you sick and can be counterproductive. Its called hard training, genetics, diet then a little help for recoup. At 6’1 210 i bench press 405 at 20 no drugs, i also had 8 years training , this guy could probably pull 800 natural.
Well he isn’t natural… so your hypothetical lifts he could do “naturally” dont mean shit honestly. The strongest assisted lifters in the world be the strongest natural lifters in the world if they choose to be. Someone like Eric lilliebridge would dominate natural lifting if he wanted to.
You didn’t get my point, all the drugs in world wont give you 1102 pull. This takes hard work, when i pulled 700 i was on 750mg testosterone wk, and 30to 50 mg winny, thats it mex gear. A popular cycle was 250 sust, 200deca, and 25mg dbol, ive seen guys respond totally different, training and diet should be base not juice. You should see the lifts done under 500mg total.
This is huge, the hummer pulls at the Arnold are not the same. I want to see a 500 snatch or a 600 clean and jerk at Olympics this year, i wish they would have a trap bar deadlift contest see what kind of numbers go down, its night time folks , talk to you morning side.
no its fine if i fire opinions about then i expect i will be be challenged on them. I have a lot to learn about the iron game in general so thank you for your hospitality!
Blaming Roids is useless. What if everybody would be nattys and someone pulls WR? - someone, somewhere (probably in the internet) would claim that the pull is not so impressive, because the lifter had so good Genes, leverages, or some other stupid excuse.
That is a monstrous pull, no matter how you look at it.
Insane … A few months back Eddie posted on social media somewhere that he was learning to use the deadlift suit so watch out. I guess he wasn’t playing around. I guess its up for debate whether guys get anything out of a deadlift suit or not in the powerlifting world. Even if it added just a couple pounds for him he clearly wasn’t looking to make this record attainable.
ill repeat… i was in no way trying to be derogatory or demeaning towards eddie hall or the sport of strongman. i simply expressed an opinion… albeit an unpopular one.
true, but was more referring to his future performance at WSM, he has had an obvious increase in static strength, just wonder how much it will carryover to the stones, carries etc…
I wouldn’t look at this as an increase in static strength. It’s not like some sort of RPG. He added 80lbs to his deadlift, most likely by focusing on doing what it takes to add 80lbs to his deadlift (mastering the deadlift suit, properly peaking, speed work and rest like @FlatsFarmer said, etc).
I imagine this will make WSM a little trickier for him this year since it’s like 2 weeks away. He’s going to need to really hammer his recovery.
My friend Knut good barely deadlift 450 yet he could load a 300 pound stone at 5’10 200. We had guys who could pull 750 plus who were struggling with 300 pound stones. That sport is evolving, but now that their are what 40 bowl games, espn sold it too cbssport which in order for me to get would be expensive cable package. As for carry over who knows, have to check this guy out on you tube, i am curious to see what event he did before deadlift.
With regard to pay in strongman, it is just damn more entertaining to watch than powerlifting. I think it is way more fun to train too but that is beside the point.
500kg deadlift, damn, Id like to take some lessons from him.
