EDC Pocket Knife

I’ve used the Lansky system for many years.
I have one but never use it. I just use a whetstone generally.

CRKT M16z

at work i usually carry a CRKT Kasper. im on a MacBook right now, i have no idea how to save and then upload a pic on this thing, but im sure at least a few of you are familiar.

it belonged to me coworker, i was checking it out, said hey man this is nice, he said keep it. i like the weight and size of it. can get a really good, secure grip on it. The blade is nice and sharp, and has some good serrations on it. i wish it were auto, or at least spring assisted, then it would be perfect.

then i have a Smith & Wesson M&P knife, little smaller, but i like it a lot. has a “tanto” blade, very sharp, with the open assist lever which kicks it open pretty fast. and it has the seatbelt cutter, which could prove to be useful.

i would love to have a Benchmade auto, but currently i have many other purchases to make before i drop $300+ on a knife.

I have a Case small Stockman as my EDC when I am going to the office and whatnot. I use a Klein Tools Drop point or a Benchmade Pardue combo blade when doing odd jobs around the house. For hunting, I will either carry a Buck Omnihunter fixed blade 14pt, Outdoor Edge Flip n Zip or a Benchmade folding drop point. Thinking seriously about buying a Havalon Piranta with the replacement blades.

SOG Fast Hawk.

The toothpick on the other end is handy.

I have gotten more use out of this than I ever dreamed I would have.

Love my Lansky. I won it in a raffle in highschool and it has proved invaluable.

What I always carry. This one is well broken in…

DoubleDuce,

very nice. how do you like the axis lock? looks solid. How old is that knife? the blade finish looks to be in great condition

The lock is great. The lever is on both sides, so you can unlock with either thumb or index finger. Take a little getting used to it though.

It’s at least 3 years old. And I use it (and abuse it) almost every day. It has been amazingly durable. Dropped on off of cranes, had it wet a bunch of times, cut lots of copper wire with it, used it as a screw driver, and it’s still in good shape. When/if it does finally stop working, I’ll be buying a new one exactly like it.

Agree 100%.

I did manage to snap the tip off mine trying to split some hardwood firewood, but, um, as long as you don’t do something that stupid, it can handle a ton of abuse.

Plus, if you do damage the blade, they’ll replace it for a reasonable price.

The axis lock is great for single-handed opening and closing, either hand. Just pull and flip. Obviously takes some getting used to, but I’ve been very happy with my Benchmade.

I see we have some great knives in this thread. I saw a couple Spyderco knives in my opinion a great value. I have several and use them a lot. Their warranty program is awesome. I broke off a pocket clip on an old model, before the metal clips used now, I took it to the store in Golden to see if it could be repaired. The tech looked at it and said it could. He fixed it by handing me a new knife out from under the counter. no questions and thanked me for my business. I did not have nearly as good of experience with benchmade warranty.

SOG Jet Edge. My Texas knife. No longer made. I’ve had this one for 10+ years.

Since I fly back and forth from Colorado to Texas with only a carry-on, I leave a couple of knives in Texas.

love my schrade old timer. had it for years. use a gray Soft Arkansas stone to start and finish up with a “moonstone” which is either a Hard Select or True Hard grade Arkansas stone. had it for over 30 years so I’m not sure of the grade. I’ve always wanted a black “jet” stone. bitched and said “too much” when I could have bought one for $20 and now they’re over $125 for an 8" one. the translucent stones are around $200!

does anyone own one of the new Damascus knives? I’ve handled a few but want to know if they’re worth the money in the long run.

Is it legal to carry these knives?

Any ozzies here that know if its legal to carry them here in Oz-land?

I bought a Gerber Dime when TSA said they were lifting the restrictions on small, non-locking knives for flights. Then they retracted it. So, it became a new keychain gadget instead.

In another thread an ozzie commented that you were only allowed to carry a knife if you were a workman who needed one to do his job, and then only while you were actually on the jobsite (or presumably on your way directly to or from).

This seems utterly ridiculous to me, but it could very well be true. Ridiculousness abounds…

I can’t believe how many states allow double edged blades and Michigan does not.
I’m not sure what you mean by no point. In michigan blades cannot be more than 3-1/2 inches and no double edge like a dagger. You can have a longer blade in a sheath for hunting but it cannot go into certain areas like bars.

how does this compare to the spyderco sharpmaker? anyone here have experience with the sharpmaker? a couple of blade forums are really high on it
