Eccentric-less Curls

At the end of my pull day I tried curls on a rowing machine. It’s an old style machine with a long chain that spins a fan and has a sliding seat. I sat still and simply curled the bar. The faster you pull the more resistance you create. This seemed to be a good alternative to the prowler as in this case there is also no negative.

I have been in an eccentric-less frame of mind lately thanks to you Christian

Yes, very good idea. Air compression, fan based or hydraulic exercises machine are good for eccentric-less work

Hello CT,

say that I have 5 working days, one session per work day and one or 2 muscle groups per day, how would you split the eccentric-less sessions?

how about cables for eccentric-less training? You can just let it go back to the starting position?

I thought of doing that but the stack dropping back down would make a ton of noise and maybe even damage the machine(?). I actually thought of stuffing a towel in between the stack plates do be able to just drop it.

ah yeah maybe try the towel thing… tho blast straps if you google some tutorials on how to make them it costs like 10-15$ so maybe thats an option (:

Or use the smith machine to do a 1-2 eccentric less: lift with 1 arm, use both to drop (the smith solves the balancing problem of doing that with a regular bar.)

I have used that technique on the nautilus curl machine. Curling with one, then immediately cupping with the other arm and dropping it under control. This also works very well.

Yep. However, all the machines at my gym are arm-independent. I got some nasty looks while doing this on the one smith machine there…
