Eating Too Hard?

I’m a hardgainer.
Screw you, I’m not complaining. Yeah, squat, milk, whatever say your mantra.

I’ve been making gains, but I keep bumping into a problem - I’m not only a hardgainer, I’m a hardass. I eat too much. Like, atleast once a month theres a day I go overboard and end up upchucking a meal (at worst, that is. sometimes its just something light.)

I don’t eat shit, or anything near or resembling anything you’d come near on a cheat day. Maybe once every other month I’ll eat a slice of pizza. I’m a fish/chicken/lean beef kind of guy. Olive oil shots with eggs for breakfast. Etc.

My question is, what can I do to increase my capacity? I eat like a train all day long, I’m not just going in bursts (which would be my problem on the “filling up” issue). I just need to know how to avoid crossing that line but tread it so close… I’m getting better but I’m wondering if I’m coherent or if you all just think I’m nuts right now.

Stats?
Sample Training week?
Sample Daily Diet?

Stop obsessing over your abz.

I’m betting 1000 interwebz that you’re too worried about your precious little emo abs to eat enough food to actually grow. So man up and eat some pizza.

That’s not what he’s asking. He’s saying he eats and makes gains but every now and then he eats too much and…

WTF…

Working on eating larger portions at each meal throughout the deal. Or, instead of all at one meal… twice a day you need to force feed yourself right up to “the point” in which you feel sick. Pushing yourself to that threshold and breaking that mental barrier is just as important as busting through any plateau in the weight room, homie.

I’m confused…

What exactly is your problem?

You’re vomiting “at least once a month…”?

or You’re vomiting regularly/daily?

What do you mean by “I’m just not going in bursts”?

In my opinion, if you’re training as hard and as committed as you claim, then your body would have increased its caloric demand due to the physical toll, thus increasing your appetite and capacity to retain food.

I’m calling bullshit because this topic is too simple to deduce…

And he eats 100% clean, but complains he can’t gain weight. See a problem maybe? Pizza and burgers won’t kill you OP.

If yakking is a problem, maybe stop with the olive oil shots? yergh.

And drink lots of water, might keep your stomach expanded.

Where does he say he can’t gain weight? He wrote he has been making gains in the third paragraph.

The OP needs to either start eating more calorie-dense foods, incorporating shakes into his diet, or eat smaller, more frequent meals.

I’ve never vomited within radius of an olive oil shot, or three. Those are like water to me.

And its really not bullshit, but thanks for the confidence?

I eat pizza, I eat large italian subs, bellybusters, buffalo chicken sandwiches. My morning breakfast is something like:
1 cup yogurt
1 EVOO shot
2 scrambled eggs
12oz whey/weightgainer (depends how I feel, ones way thicker than the other)

Later on I’m eating throughout school, bags of vegetables/one of the aforementioned sandwiches/bags of fatty nuts/dates.

When I get home its food (something wholesome accompanied by rice), lifting, another shake post-lift. (when I say “shake,” think >800 calories.) From then until I get to bed, I’m just eating everything I see that isn’t made of hydrogenated oil.

Throughout all of the aforementioned crap, I’m drinking a gallon/gallon and a half of water.

I’m not a pussy and I know I need to eat more, I just need to increase my tolerance - and I was looking for insight on that particular issue. I hope I made that simpler/more clear.

Edit: Also, Hungry, while I am concerned about avoiding shit-food (Twinkies.), I don’t freak out about my abs. I get I’m an ectomorphic faggot and I fully abuse that when I down fatty food in front of fat people. I’m a douche.

2nd Edit, for Matty:

I’m 5’ 7", 140lb. When I started lifting a year ago (nearly to the day) I was 120lb. I’ve been at 140lb since around October.

My sample daily diet is above ^. I’ve deadlifted 360 x 2, squatted 300 (never really went for high squat weights, I’m sure I could if I went balls to the wall) and I don’t max on bench or anything like that but I know I can atleast push 170lb.

Am I missing anything?
Thank you in advance and I (very humbly) await my flaming.

lol @ 2 scrambled eggs. Thats what my grandma got when we went out for brunch on sunday.

I am but only a man

That type of mindset might just be your problem. I eat 6 whole eggs plus spinach heavy cream and some form of breakfast meat cooked in olive oil every morning. Man up.

Hi there. Sorry for not being overly… blatant… in my fake hurt earlier. What do you weigh again, out of curiosity I mean.

Like, 160? Maybe 180? I need to get up, shower, scarf down that breakfast and high-tail it to school. I’m sure I could labor through 4 whole scrambled eggs in addition to the whole-milk 8oz of yogurt/12oz shake/olive oil. But then I’d be late for the life I have to continue living. For the record, “get up earlier and eat like its your job” is what I already do. I have a 40 minute commute for the last two months of school - I’m not BAWWWing, I’m just letting you know I’m not a pussy and I’m commited to getting un-skinnyfag. I’m making progress, I just need to know if you guys have any methodology to push your limit on how much you can eat.

For instance, I’ve heard some guys suck on an icecube when they feel they’ve crossed the line. That shit WORKS.

Edit: Sorry if I sound defensive and qualify all the shit I’m saying (like about my commute to school). I’ve noticed when you’re the fresh meat in a forum full of dudes bigger than houses and old enough to be your dad, you gotta have a shitload of humility and listen - but you also need to keep your guard up or get ripped to shreds. I value everything you guys are saying, but don’t think I’m being a prissy emo when I say I have a little difficulty keeping down a million pounds of food when my entire being weighs in at 140. (That ISN’T an excuse, I’m trying to put things in perspective for our house-sized senior members.)

I think you need to read the articles here, browse the threads for a while, and then come back with a more concise/targeted question.

I respectfully facepalm in slight frustration. I concede this is very difficult to articulate for me.
I’ve lurked here for a few months - I’ve read and use some of the I, Bodybuilder principles. I read Nate Green’s blog, and have read most of the stickies around this place. I know who Professor X is, I think celtics is nuts, and I know most of you guys eat me for breakfast.

My question, stated as concisely as possible is: I have a problem with the VOLUME I am able to eat. I eat calorically dense foods, but I can only stomach so much. How do I increase my CAPACITY for said food. I’ve been working at this for a year now, and I feel like I could be doing better.

Honestly. When you think of a bodybuilding forum one tends to think of people with above average body mass. I would assume that not many people at all that bodybuild will encounter the problem you have. Why not go to a eating disorder website? Or a forum based on hand raising pigeons?

Bone, your advice has been most helpful. I obviously am bulimic.

Shit.

X2.

or go see a doctor, and a psychologist. Who says, “I respectfully facepalm in slight frustration,” your one weird kid. It should seem fairly simple, in order to do anything in a greater capacity, you must work towards your goal in small increments. If you feel that you have done everything you can to work towards your goals, and you have failed, then you should seek professional help/counseling.
