Hey guys…I didn’t know where to put this thread…so…A bit about myself…I’m 6’7" and have been lifting on and off for quite sometime. …There have been periods of time where I actually stuck with it for about 3 months.anyway…One of my biggest problems is being able to “eat like a horse” to gain size…especially when it comes to drinking protein shakes post workout. …within 30 minutes it almost always goes through me if you catch my drift…
not only that…I’m only able to eat a moderate amount as eating too much makes me feel uncomfortable. How am I supposed to gain size if my body either passes it through or can’t take so much…sorry if my description was a little tmi. Please help… thanks
How do you respond to milk? Some lactose intolerant/sensitive people do get similar stuff with whey, if thats the protein type you’re drinking
There are no magic ways of gaining weight and 6’7" isn’t particularly easy to ‘‘fill’’…
Maybe try adding bit by bit and then you’ll find yourself you’re accustomed to more food?
If i was to gain a lot of weight, liquid calories would be my choice. If you dont respond well to whey, play with yogurt, raw eggs, coconut oil/milk, nut butters, bananas, honey etc…
just cut out the whey and eat solid foods. If you are struggling to hit your protein target then consider a non-dairy protein like rice or pea. They taste like shit and the BV isn’t anywhere near as good as whey, but at least you’ll digest it instead of shitting it out straight away.
I’m in the same boat, actually. I can’t tolerate whey either.
But the ability to gain size isn’t dependent on whether or not you can drink protein shakes! Sure, they’re convenient, but they’re far from essential.
Just eat tons of protein, tons of carbs (don’t be scared to eat a little junk every now and then) and moderate fat. You’ll get there eventually.
If you’re eating things which are upsetting your gut it’s going to be difficult to coax your body into handling large amounts of calories. In fact it’s counterproductive. It’s very much a possibility that you’d be doing better had you skipped them altogether.
I used to think that basing my diet around the traditional bodybuilding foods was a great way (if not the best way) to build muscle. Then I learned I didn’t respond well to many of them.
The best physiques are built though trial and error with food as much as with iron. The journey is the destination.
I’m a naturally skinny guy. I have a fast metabolism, food passes through me like you’re saying.
When I have got overweight there had to be a excess of calories. And it takes some time.
Constantly try to be eating. As well as you can of course. A liquid weight gainer has helped.
You’re basically trying to slow down your metabolism.
You said that you actually stuck with it for three months.
I believe that there is your problem. You have to have a passion for all of this.
If you absolutely don’t want to be bigger, stronger in the worst way. You are just spinning your wheels.
Train for size, eat big, stick with it forever. Know this is what you want.
Then prepare for gains. Good luck brother.
