Easy Strength 40 Day Routine (Dan John program)

Here are videos of my some light lifts. Please make comments or give analysis of my form;

GV- Great work and a ton of it going on in here…what is take on the Fat Gripz bench? ALways wanted to try it but haven’t to date.

@Old Goat-The Fat Gripz bench adds another component to bench training i.e. supporting muscles are activated to a greater degree than normal and there is some degree of lessening the stress in the shoulders and wrists(at least for me but I read that this is the case). The grip is trained when using Fat Gripz to a greater degree than using just the bar such as in thick bar training or log training. I have found that triceps and biceps even get better work along with my forearms getting a bang for the buck. I reallly like Fat Gripz and they are helping me to rehab my grip strength amongst the other benefits recovering from my right biceps tear. Overall, I recommend Fat Gripz to all that want to increase lifts such as deads or bench or grip strength.

Went to my first coached weightlifting session today. The coach had me doing cleans for almost 2 hours to work on my form which sucked. I need to improve on hip drive from the low position, keeping the bar closer than I thought, and improving the angle of my catch as well as the timing of my high pull and coordinating this with my jump. Great work today and I learned a bunch which I will continue to work on this week until hopefully next Saturday my coach will give me the thumbs up to use some real weight. It seems I was using too much arm to power up the clean and now I am learning to use more leg drive. It’s on mutha-****

@Up-I feel like hell today but I attribute most of that to only getting about 4 hours of sleep last night. You know-2 year old, too much caffeine, not enough melatonin. My shoulders got blasted and my lower back as well.
I want to be part of a team of lifters who are like minded and goal oriented and I want the coaching because I will compete and I love the lifting so I want to do it right. [/quote]

I get the no sleep, been there done that. Teens dont make it any easier when lots of times they are up later than me :0 I think form years of listening for babies with one ear, im also a light sleeper.

Great on like minded lifters. I love the oly work. Ill be watching to see how you balance it, i got so caught up in “practicing” that I could easily spend hours just working on 1 or 2 lifts. Im sure having a team/coach will help with that!!

Cant see vid.

Thank Up. I’m having trouble with the video right now but I’ll be fixing that soon. Balancing the powerlifting and weightlifting is and will be a challenge. The bigger challenge of balancing lifting and making sure my 2 year old is happy is real work too that I’m sure you and so many on here can relate to.

Lifting today went very fast and I am working on technique for the snatch and clean and jerk which is more taxing lifting due to the methodical step by step practice.

25 Goblet Squats w/25 lbs kettlebell
100 Swings w/25 lbs kettlebell

One hour and 15 minutes lift time was intense. I will try to pare down to 1 hour as soon as possilbe. Getting my form for the snatch and clean and Jerk is challenging.

You have crazy work capacity.

Yesterday’s lifting was intense and I’ve been so busy now is the first I have had to post. In fact I just got back from a 2 hour massage to work out some the accumulated stress from yesterday.

Standing Presses:
140 x3x5

400 Meter Loaded Carry w/35 lbs each hand

This was a devastating lifting session that lasted about an hour and 20 minutes. I have to increase my stretching and foam rolling along with lacrosse ball rolling on the feet and under the hamstrings. Therapy is crucial.

Tonight I decided to take it easy because I’m still feeling Wednesday’s lifting to some degree and work has been rigorous.

Warm Ups:
25 Goblet Squats w/50 lbs T-Bar
100 Swings w/50 lbs T-bar

Snatches:(All form and technique practice tonight)
3x3x45 lbs(bar)
2x3x95 lbs

Clean and Jerk:
3x3x45 lbs(bar)
2x3x95 lbs

Not too much work tonight but tomorrow I am going for another weightlifting training session.

Yesterday’s training went well with my weightlifting coach. Probably did about 20 sets of cleans for 4 reps with varying weigh. Then I did front squats up to a light 180 for 2 sets of 3 and finally back squats up to 405 lbs for 3 reps (No wraps, no belt, ATG). It was an intense day and my entire body was wrecked due to the accumulation of work and lifting this past week.

Monday’s lifting went well and I felt a little refreshed from the day off, Sunday.

Warm Ups:
25 Goblet Squats w/50 lbs T-Bar
100 Swings w/50 lbs T-Bar

Snatches:
8x3x45 lbs(bar)
95x2; 105x2; 115x2; 120x2; 145 lbs x2

Clean and Jerks:
145x1; 155x1; 165x1; 185x1; 215x1

Back Squats:
135 x5; 225x3; 315x3; 405x1; 525 lbs x1

Fat Gripz Bench Press:
135 x5; 185x3; 225x1

Fat Gripz Overhead Press:
135 x5x3reps

25 Standing Crunches w/60 lbs

Good lifting today with a new PR on the clean and jerk.

Haven’t had much time to write in here because schedule is so busy. Still lifting 4 days a week and my lift days are all similar to the one above.
