EAS Protein Sucks

Isn’t protein powder supposed to dissolve in water or milk? This protein I bought is all lumpy and gooey and by the time I finish drinking the water it’s sitting at the bottom of the shaker. IT SUCKKSS!!! DOn’t buy it

The first protein I ever bought was Myoplex. Mixing it in a shaker was a waste of time and the only thing that I didn’t choke and gag on was the Chocolate/Peanut Butter flavor. Nasty stuff.

The worst protein I ever tried was ON casein. One of the ingredients was guar gum, which gave it this sticky, gooey texture, like a 2 day old McDonald’s “milkshake.” I want to drink my shake, not chew it.

I used to enjoy EAS products when I first started weight training several years ago. Then they started changing their formula and flavors so the quality started going downhill.

I heard that before also. I guess it was only good during the Bill Phillips days when EAS was Experimental & Applied Sciences. Now its owned by Abbott Laboratories and EAS is Energy Athletics Strength.

the protien bottle will way it mixes easilly, but you need a shaker bottle for most all proteins.

I use ON casein and am a big fan. But I use it in shakes with a bunch of different stuff and mix in a blender so I never noticed it being sticky or gooey.

Both EAS and METRX have become crap companies. The products are no longer anywhere near the decent quality supplements they originally were. Both companies are owned by businessmen, who most likely have no concern other than the bottom line and cutting prodution costs. They bought the name, and that’s what most consumers look for.

My sister works at Abbott with marketing their new sport nutrition stuff and I get these EAS Myoplex Original shakes and Zone Perfect nutrition bars for free. The shakes come already in a container, like… as a shake. You don’t need to mix it, just open and drink. It kind of tastes like chocolate milk, but I can’t really say how it works since I’ve only drank them like four times.

I used to eat the bars pre-workout when I worked out at school. They taste pretty good, but again, I can’t attest to how well they work.

Not a big fan of EAS and METRX has def gone down hill.

A lot of my college athlete friends drink it, cause thats what the universities buy and my friends say “well its cheap and quality”…i beg to disagree

Just cause Fitzgerald and Brady QUEEN are in the ads doest mean quality product

i like ON casein as well

as far as EAS, i used to get just a basic whey protein concentrate from costco which was alright, but then they changed the formula to a “time-released” protien powder with a bunch of different proteins (including soy) and i stopped buying it.

never tasted very good anyhow.

Yah EAS protein is pretty wack first problem with it is that its not an isolate primarily its a concentrate! And I encountered the same problem with ON 100% casein!

Syntha 6 mixes really well and tasted delisious however I HATE BSN in general so most recently Im just buying my protein from trueprotein.com I buy 2 10lb bags at a time; 1 is Micellar Casein (Instantized) and 1 is Whey protein Isolate (Ultra Grade) Its not 2 pricey! and the protein tast really good you can get them formulated to your need with specific Amino Acids and Vitamins and Minerals!!

Edit: The Casein was hard to mix! Not that is was an concentrate that just came out wrong obviously its a micellar cassein and a calcium cassenate blend!

ON casein is rough, but its 10x better than Universal casein/egg mix. That was pure chalk, you couldn’t dissolve it in a blender if your life depended on it.

Cytosport Whey is excellent, mixes very fast and has great flavor. I buy 10lb buckets for 70 USD, not a bad deal.

I also bought some ON Casein and I thought it sucked.

I tried mixing it with a hand blender and it sucked…too lumpy

Then I tried mixing it with some whey protein (pseudo met drive shake)

I ended up giving away what was left to a brother-in-law.

My choices…

Metabolic Drive, without a doubt, great to just augment your protein intake after a meal, or by itself (or mixed in oatmeal!) always have a few cannisters in my cubboard.

Beverly Ultimate Muscler Protein. Similar to Metabolic Drive, in that it’s a quality blend. Cookies n Creme tastes great, and very textury/thick when mixed. I’ll use this occassionally just when I get board of Metabolic Drive

Cytosport Whey. Probably the best mixing/best tasting/cheapest whey I’ve found. Been using this for about 3 years now, and have turned most of my buddies onto it.

When you guys talk about quality, how do you define that? I frankly don’t give a rats @$$ what it tastes like or looks like or smells like, I’m not taking the stuff cause I want to enjoy sipping it next to the fireplace while reading a Danielle Steel novel.

I buy it cause it’s a cheap and easy way to add protein and calories to my diet. Is there a big difference between brands when it comes to that? I imagine at least some of the price differences are coming from advertising and marketing.

Coming from someone who used to work in the dairy indusrty, I can tell you that there are different grades of protein purchased by companies for use in their products.

In general, the cheaper protein supplements use cheaper raw materials, although we had a couple of big name supplement companies purchase materials that were barely fit for animal feed.

Sounds like you need to write a whey scandal book and expose those cheap bastards!!

Aside from Metabolic Drive (low-carb)I also enjoy Ironmind’s protein “Just Protein.”

Not exactly cheap: 5lb bag for $60 bucks, but its virtually tasteless and is made of only four quality ingredients: calcium caseinate (milk protein), instant non-fat dry milk, whole egg powder, and natural vanilla-almond flavor. No other crap added.

You will know how cheap the protein is by the smell of your farts!
