Earthlings Documentary

Jesus Christ- I’m not a vegetarian or a person who usually speaks up about animal rights, but a co-worker mentioned this documentary to me today.

The 1st part about pets brought tears to my eyes, then the parts about food I had to fight the tears back.

I doubt I could ever be vegan, but this movie will make you think about it.

anyone seen it?

the thread title would allow quotation marks, but it’s called “Earthlings”

Haven’t heard of it.

I’ll Google it.

Not trying to start any shit here, but documentaries like these always make me think about what if the animals were in charge of the planet and how they would treat us humans. I’m pretty sure it would be in a similar fashion as depicted in those documentaries.

Here is part one, you can go to the direct youtube page for the rest of the documentary, it has 5 parts…

EDIT: Tried to watch the whole thing, couldn’t watch more after part 2 @ 7:00

I thought it was gonna be a documentary from invading aliens point of view… meehh.

I figured it wasnt, cause they would have to do the are you 18 bs on account of all the alien on human anal.

They are animals, not people. Dogs don’t smile, etc.
Stop trying to personify them.

Not arguing you point but my dog smiles.

No one is guy.

Is it too much to ask for people to respect life and treat animals with a modicum of dignity?

It’s ok, this is obviously someone that didn’t watch the documentary, and thinks that there is nothing new to learn by watching it.

I don’t know how some people can even do that to a pet. It’s a hard documentary to watch and I only watched 17 minutes.

It is pretty depressing.

welcome to a world that does business. All the ugly stuff happening in the world that you are not aware is related to you buying something in the end. Think about that next time you buy stupid shit.

fuck I wish I could eat organic meat

There’s nothing manly, macho, or Alpha about acting like an asshole. Demonstrating obvious inherent strengths over anyone or anything just because you can doesn’t make you superior. It just shows how insecure you are.

The Bible says man has dominion over the beasts. But nowhere in the definition of dominion are the words misuse or abuse.

I refuse to wath this. I really don’t want to go on a killing spree or anything, so I must abstain from things which make me want to obliterate mankind.

thought I should add in a just kidding around for dramatic effect disclaimer, I also don’t want the FBI knocking on my door tonight.

What’s a general summary of this thing?

I’m guessing it’s footage of humans abusing animals, both wild and domesticated including pets.

It breaks it down into 5 parts

  1. Pets
  2. Food- and the different industries (cow, pig, chicken, etc)
  3. Entertainment (circus, zoo’s, etc)
  4. Clothing (leather)
  5. Science

Not saying that everyone should become vegan or not use animals for science, but this is a well done doc that will make you think and requestion things.

I would also have to say that it made me rethink the Michael Vick situation. Granted, what he did wasn’t right at all, but for other things to be “ok” is kind of odd. Like rodeos and bull riding for example.
anyways, I’m not trying to preach, just thought I would share

I’m fine with treating all creatures with respect, BUT comparing the mistreatment of animals to slavery, racisim, rape, and child molestation is some ignorant BULLSHIT.

Do you think the cows on the farms or pigs or chickens would even be alive if it was not for us. These are crops just like corn wheat apples or oranges. They are the staple in most peoples diets. Could they be treated better yes. But here is the flip side do you want to pay more for your chicken breasts, or your milk or whey protein? …cause it would cost farmers more to farm differently. I am not talking a few cents but dollars. Calculate that out at the end of your grocery bill of a person under iron bar.

Also for all those who watch the movie with sound. Turn it off and show it to someone who has not seen it. I doubt the effect of the sad background music and narrative by the all knowing metro guy will have an effect on that person.

To me this is just PETA propaganda. Designed to attach emotions to crops of animals we grow.
