E3 '09 Is Here!

Microsoft really stole the show today. I am totally blow away by how much they have coming down the pike. Although I think Twitter integration is totally MEH, the Facebook integration could prove interesting.

Their new “Natal” controllerless motion sensing is a big kick in the nuts to nintendo. Time will tell if compelling hardcore and casual titles will really take advantage of the technology.

One BIG hurdle to the 1080p movie streaming will be lack of consumer bandwidth(8Mbs DL speed needed). Oh, and those bandwidth caps everyone’s been talking about? You just found a BIG reason to care about them.

It will be nice to add to my netflix queue right from the 360. And YES, I will pre-order AND stand in line to get my copy of Halo3 ODST.

My big question is what the heck can Sony and Nintendo pull out of their rears that can build any real buzz after today?

Of course Microsoft stole the show today…it was basically their day. They have some good stuff to build on,but nothing groundbreaking, imo. However,it remains to be seen where they stand after Sony and Nintendo press conferences.

First gameplay from Modern Warfare 2:

Splinter Cell: Conviction looks really good…as well as Assassin’s Creed 2…Ubisoft is doing there thing.

New footage of FF…what is it now, 14? lol - that would be cool. God of War 3 is gonna be sick too.

PS3 needs more RPGs; I loved Oblivion. Fable 2 would be cool.

As the banner says FF XIII will be finally coming out next year…

Like GB said, it would be awesome if square-enix did a remake of FFVII for the ps3.

Fable 2 was released last year, or do you mean you want to see it on PS3?

I just hope FFXIII is better than FFXII. Twelve was the worst one in my opinion, and I’m tired of having a main character that looks like a Thai ladyboy. I guess I just have such high expectations for that series that I’m constantly left wanting more. I loved 7-10, I never touched 11. 12 just had… the worst battle system I had ever seen. The story was only mildly interesting, I never even finished it sadly.

LMAO, I didn’t know whether to get turned on or say “Huh?” when I saw Tidus in FFX. I think it all went to shit after FF9. The new battle system blows my balls. As for Kingdom Hearts, I played and completed both and the first one was the one that had all the magic. The second one was a “eh, whatever” at best. I want see Mickey kick some ass again!

To me it seems they are so damned interested in telling a story through movies, that they have slowly put less detail into the rest of the game. FF3 and FF7 are my favorites in the series.

I like the movies, I think they’re an amazing aspect of the game and something that FF is now known for. In terms of story, I loved FFVII but I never got into it a lot because FFVIII was the first one I ever played. Story wise however, FFVII and FFIX take the cake IMO. FFX was interesting, but I’ve never had an easier boss battle in my life, and Seymore just was… A shitty character all around. It seemed like he was an attempt at making another Sephiroth, but it failed miserably. [/quote]

FFVII and VI are THE out of the series. I forced myself to complete X but I didn’t feel the same love I did for IX. The game didn’t have the same feel to it as in the previous installments and for my taste the only thing worth a rats ass were Lulu’s jugs. I would save right before an extra jiggly scene and replay it to my liking BWA HA HA HA!

A little off-topic,

I’ve noticed a lot of pining for FF VII, but IMO FF VI (FF III as released in the U.S.) is the greatest game ever made. It literally broke my “gaming fuse”. I played the ever-loving shit out of that game 15 years ago, and haven’t played much since then.

FF VI might not seem like all that much to someone playing it for the first time in 2009, but back in 1994, that game was Earth-shattering. Literally.

I did play FF VII, and thought it was alright, but it didn’t hold a candle to FF VI. I haven’t played any of the other FF’s since then, largely because they’ve all looked like total shit next to FF VI.

Remember, this doesn’t look too bad in 2009, even though it was made in 1994:

How many hours? VI/III was very good but IMO VII just took the series to new heights.

NO SHIT!

Thankfully they are about to start the beta test for SC 2, and the game should be out before the year is over from what I understand.

Unfortunately I think we will be waiting at least another year for Diablo 3 :frowning: I’ve been waiting 8 years already damnit!

Diablo has a special place in my heart…been playing the series off and on for like 8 years. My social life will non existent once D3 is released haha.

I have Final Fantasy Anthology which came with (Japanese numbers) FFV and FFVI. I played both, but never finished either. FFVI had an amazing story though, it was possibly one of the best stories ever implemented in a video game, along with the Metal Gear series. I’d have to agree with you there, but more importantly if any Final Fantasy game was remade, it should be that one.

As much as I’d love to jump in on the individual FF game discussion it’s probably best to leave this thread for E3 info, and maybe move that all over to the geek thread where people expect random debates on any topic of our choosing =p

PS: FFX gets a bad rap because people don’t like Tidus, but the story they built around him is really well done, the sphere system was innovative(and not too overpowered if you didn’t use a map of it from some site to plan out your stats), and the cinematics were un-fucking-real for the time.

The storyline was unparalleled, great gameplay, cutting edge graphics (at that time) and the only game other than Chrono Trigger that I played more than 5 times. There’s not much games nowadays that have the same replayability factor.

Okay fine! :stuck_out_tongue:

I am not that knowledgeable about gaming, but I was curious to know if anyone could attend E3? Is it something you need an invitation for, or could anyone just show up?

It use to be open to the public but now it’s invite only.

I didn’t use a map, and by the time hit Lv 92 I was able to figure the fucking system out. Cinematics were awesome and the story was well done but I still believe it was a step in the wrong direction coming from FF9

My first picture didn’t post.

Oh, I don’t know. I could finish it in about 20 hours now, but I literally know that game inside-and-out. Probably 50-60 hours, first time through, not counting any character-building.

In any event, I’m not going to hijack the E3 thread any more. I’d be happy to talk FF3 in another thread if anybody is curious.

Nintendo is so gay.

Project Natal for Xbox 360 looks wicked, but I can already see a lot of annoying bugs and glitches popping up during random game plays. We’ll see how it goes though. Hopefully it’ll live up to its hype!

I’ll check that out, thanks!
