This morning I felt like working on GPP. Ran down to the big hill at the end of my street, did 6 sprints up the hill, and ran back home. Sucking wind pretty well after that. Then I did 3 trips around the yard with my cinder block farmers.

DZ, I like the look of your log… and dude, you got some serious mass building! Also, nice to know there’s another 45+ y/o metal-head around (have you heard the newest Avenged 7-Fold? I listen to alot of Armon Armoth and early Metallica, and I’m 48.) I can sympathize w/the back issues, I have arthritis in lower and middle back, I do yoga to keep flexible, and it keeps me from having (as bad) chronic back pain.
Phillymann, one of the best mass building compound exercises you can incorporate into your routine, are squats. Read ‘The Third-World Squat, by Craig Weller’ on the main page first, so you can develope proper technique, before trying to slap huge weight on your back, and screwing it up.
I’m getting ready to begin my own thread too, but I will keep checking in to see how you’re doin’ DZ. Good luck, and ‘Rock On’.

Hello Mr.X, look forward to your log. I do my best to keep up with the newest metal, but what I know I get mostly from watching Headbangers Ball, and sometimes that can be a chore. They play a lot of stuff I can’t get into. I did just pick up the new Drowning Pool…good stuff! I enjoy Mudvayne, Disturbed, Flaw, Korn, Otep, stuff like that.

We’ve got a pretty good snow storm going on today. So, I got bundled up and went for a run. Ran a half mile to the elementary school, did some agility drills on the playground then ran back home. Got out my cinder blocks, and did 5 reps across the yard and back with the 60lb cinder blocks. Snows only about 4 inches deep, but it was a pretty good workout.
I dig that DZ!

I’ll tell ya, it’s a lot of fun for me. I get a kick out of peoples reactions as they drive by while I’m working out in the snow. I know they all think I’m a lunatic, and maybe they’re right! ![]()
Anyway, today I’m feeling like some heavy core work, and I wanna try the new exercise of the week while I’m at it. The single DB overhead squat.
Good Mornings
1x10xbar
1x8x95
1x8x135

Single DB OH squat(20 up, 40 down)

Those are difficult…I LIKE IT!!
Zercher GMs
I found these in a book, they called 'em Spiders, don’t know why. I find they work the lower back really well.

DZ-We train outside down here all the time.No snow like you get my brother. If I lived close to you,I would train in the snow with you.Always look forward to your posts.TRAIN HARD! Jimmy T
It helps to have 22 year old who feeds me my music. I would be lost without my son loading me up on good work out music!
Nice work here DZ!

I’m sure there are others like me around here, but I don’t know where, not at my local gym, that’s for sure. You would love to train outside today Jimmy. Looks like we got another 5 inches of snow last night. Hadn’t intended on working out outside today, but it looks like I’ve got no choice but to warm up this morning with the snow blower before lifting.

Here’s a shot of me in about a foot of snow.
