I walked out of there today with an awful lack of confidence in my bench. My touch and power were awful. I was getting some coaching from the owner that I wished I had months ago. Hopefully just an off day, but I’ll need to work on that a couple times this week I think. Not gonna do any deads till Sunday(light openers), so, I should have the time.

The numbers look ok, DZ, compared to last weeks session. What was up?

I hate days like that. Put it behind you and hit again next time.

I was looking back at the beginning of your log DZ, numbers look good all the way back to then. I suspect the good coaching maybe had you over-thinking the lifts a bit…

Now if you were a eastern NC redneck, no one would accuse you of thinking, much less over-thinking…

Don’t be discouraged.They are not all gonna be good days.The fact you keep after it and hammer away will push you to your goals.I’m with you bro!!!

I haven’t really been training my pause as I should be I guess. Benching 250 is one thing, but doing it with a full second or two pause at the bottom is something completely different. I dropped back down to 225 and everything was fine. I got 242 at the last meet.

I feel your trepidation. I waited too long to train full-range paused benching.

But if you got it for a triple, I’m sure you can get it for one with a pause - especially with meet adrenaline running.

I’m planning on arching til I hurt to get the second attempt.

Thanks Guys! I’ll work on that one more time this week. A week off of heavy lifting will do me some good and I’ll be ready for some fun next weekend. :wink:

That’s it for today. One more workout on Sunday with the gang that’s going to the meet. Turns out there’s only four of us going, but that’s OK. The owner of the gym is going, and he’s gonna open up on Sunday just for us to work up to our openers one last time, then it’s rest and and recoup for the week.
