Looking good! How’s the aches and pains?

Now’s the time to back off a wee bit and recuperate for the Meet. Try cutting out exercises that aren’t directly related to your Squat, BP or DL. The aches and pains will go soon enough, and I guarantee you even if they are around on Meet Day, YOU WON"T FEEL’EM!!! You will be so excited and psyched, nothing will matter except lifting, learning and making new friends.

Your last workouts SHOULD be with whatever equipment you are gonna use, so there will be no surprises on Meet Day. Plan your warm-ups out, leading up to your 1st attempts…remember they are just warm-ups, not part of the Meet…save your best lifting for the platform & judges. I can’t wait to hear all about the meet and your expectations and all the rest…I sincerely wish you the best, as I sure we all do!

Thanks hel, mostly in the shoulders when I Bench Press. I think I just need a little time off to heal.

Thanks for all of you input QT! I’ll get in two more days of assistance work this week, then Saturday I’ll work up to my openers on the three lifts in my gear and that’s it. Then I’ll have a full 7 days to heal up. Next week, I’ll do some core work and maybe some light cardio. I really need my shoulders to feel better by the meet. I think I have a better bench than 250 or 260, but the pains been keeping me from it.

Gonna take QT’s advice and start to wind down the intensity some and heal up before next weekends meet.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the support! You’re right Colin, my aches and pains are beginning to subside and I feel like I need to tear it up right now. But today I took it kind of easy. Sunday I’ll meet the group that’s going, at the gym. We’ll lift up to our openers on all three lifts, then not much of anything next week, some abs and lower back, and maybe some cardio.

Today we met at the gym, 7 lifters, gym was closed 'cept for us. Worked up to openers and called it quits. I wore my singlet for the first time, and it felt fine. Acually I felt very good today, but I’m not changing my openers.

Low rep warmups on all lifts
Squat to 315
Deads to 335
Bench did two singles @225 to make sure I had the pause right.
Felt really strong, can’t wait to see how I feel under the weight next Saturday!

This is the week it all comes together…your body will heal up, your mind will be sharp & focused. All the hours training, all the sacrifices, all the ups and downs and in a few days you will get to test yourself in front of judges; testing to see if the goals you set for yourself are attained and or broken with new PR’s!!! I know you might be a little nervous or maybe anxious, but it will all be worthwhile…the 9 attempts are just a few days away. From the bottom of my heart i wish you all the best at the Meet…all the pre-meet jitters, if any, will go away with that 1st squat, after that the rest of the meet is FUN!!! can’t wait to hear all about the Meet!

Thanks for all the encouragement guys! I’ve somehow managed to screw something up with my account, so, I’ve had to make a new one. Anyway, pains are nearly all gone, feeling pretty good, ready for the contest on Saturday.

Took two days completely off, and today got outside.

2 more days…are you visualizing your lifts over and over??? pack your bag, check it twice…make sure you have everything and anything you are gonna need on Saturday. If you’re missing anything, you still have today and tomorrow to get it. Bring a bath towel, in case there is a shower, you may want to take one during, but most likely, after the meet…it’s kinda refreshing if you like that kinda thing.

Thanks Guys! Yea QT, for days I’ve been doing that. I’ve set a goal for myself, aside from having fun, I’d like to total 1000lb., but I’m not gonna stress over it. Stopping by the store on the way home from work tonight to get some fruits for carbs, and maybe some granola bars,the gym is bringing the drinks.

Very excited, and nervous at the same time, can’t wait to get that first lift done. Need to print a kilo conversion chart, all weights are in kgs.Went into the gym today and did abs, moved a few bars around, light triceps and biceps.
