DW - 505 Deadlift @ 168 (VIDEO)

Dost mine eyes deceive me!?! I can hardly believe it! You definitely have come a LONG way from where you were.

Nice pull!

You’ve come a long way my friend. Always judge your future form against that video. And delete those painful bad form lifts you were doing.

WNPF is having a meet in Nanuet NY about an hour from you in August. Come pull 525 and blow out your weightclass in the raw division. [/quote]

Thanks.

Yeah, their website is giving me problems, but the meet looks good. Maybe I can take a train out there and do it. Thanks a lot for the info.

Also, if I weigh 170 instead of 165, do I compete in the 165s or the 181s? I never cut weight in my entire life and probably don’t intend to do that. Plus, I couldn’t really cut anything besides water weight.

If you’re over the limit, you’re in the next class up. Weighing 170 puts you in the 181s.

OK. Thanks.

Great pull! As stated already, 3x body weight is very impressive. I’m definitely doing DL’s tonight!

You’re starting to prove a lot of people wrong.

Good job!

nice job, making weight at 165 should be very easy

Hell yeah! If I tried that (3x BW) I’d need to pull 750! That’s more than 150 lbs I’d need to add to my all-time best.

Great work, DW.

One of the most impressive things about that video is how your speed off the floor has drastically improved, even though you’ve ditched the suit.

Thanks, guys.

sweet job, i had never seen any of your videos until today (i saw all of 'em), and it was mindblowing.

this is about a month later from your post… question:

what are you at now and how/how often do you train for increasing deadlift strength?

I’m currently about halfway through the Dan Austin deadlift routine, which was in a back issue of Powerlifter USA.

Yesterday was Week 3: 445x2,2,2,2
This coming Friday or Saturday is Week 4: 465x2,2,2,2
Week 5: 485x2,2
Week 6: 505x2,2
Week 7: 525x2,2
Week 8: 545x2,2

I think I will adjust it so that it’s 525x1 instead of 525x2,2 and not do Week 8, considering 525x1 will be a 20lb PR anyway, because I haven’t done a new max since the 505 deadlift. Also, I might do 505x2, not 505x2,2. We’ll see.

Nice one dude, you’ve gotten stronger for sure.
