During-workout shake

Because of financial difficulties, I’ve had to give up my Surge for a month or so, and replace it with a mixture of gatorade powder and whey (in a 2:1 ratio). Currently, I drink the whole thing immediately (5mins) after my workout. Would you suggest splitting it up into 2 parts, drinking half during (starting it like halfway through the workout) and half immediately after? Or should I continue to drink it right after?

Thanks.

Split it up for sure. Half during and the other half after.

What are your immediate training goals?

I use powerade as well.

I usually mix 1.5 scoops with .5 scoops of protein for during, and the same for post. It’s worked very well so far.

Are you using Gatorade?
What are the sugars in that?

Gatorade has sucrose & dextrose. Definitely split the shake up: half during and half after. I’d also suggest picking up some maltodextrin to use 50/50 with the gatorade mix. You can pick it up real cheap.

My roommate (FunkMaster) and I have just recently switched from just a gatorade and a shake postworkout to a shake with maltodextrin only. Do you think that we would benefit more with some gatorade powder mixed in with the maltodextrin also? If so, why? Also, What kind of grams of each (gatorade vs whey vs maltodextrin) should we be consuming if we split it up (during/after)? Thanks.

Chingon,
Take a look at this:

The blue Powerade has maltodextrine in it as a carb source, which is why I use it.

For some reason, not all of the Powerades used maltodextrine, last I checked…

Oh yeah, it’s “maltodextrin” with no “e” on the end.

Damn. Time for some Powerdrive…

Dumb question, but does Powerade come in powdered form, too?

Immediate training goals: Strength and size, in that order. Eating bulking calories, but I want to get STRONG

CGB - yes.

I personally avoid protein if it isn’t hydrolyzed (predigested) during a workout, and just save it until after, although I start drinking a high gi drink after the middle of my workout, and still get a lot of water.

Has anyone noticed the regular whey interfering with their workouts?
