Dumbest Fitness Advice You've Ever Heard

They’re not always available. Walmart, gnc are some of the only options. Your advice is about as dumb as half the stuff written here. Most people here would chose such a mythical store if one was local.

I dont know much about GNC, we dont have them here in the outback. Sounds like a chain store?

But why do you spend your hard earned cash at such place. The joke is on you buddy.

What you should be doing is supporting your locally owned independant supplement store. Ok, so what, you have to spend an extra dollar or two, but atleast your not supporting dumbnuts. Your more likely to get some decent service and advice if required. Before I purchase anything, I always ask myself; where is this money going.

F*ck the coorperates.

They exist, you have to search for them. Its the same way for hardcore gyms, every decently sized city has 2 or 3 of them.

The supp shops aren’t always noticable by name.

For example, one of the stores in my city is just a brick building called Jammers.

You’d NEVER know what the place was if you didn’t go in.

It’s a stupid cop out to say it’s the only option available, unless you live in a tree in africa there is a local supp store.

They’re not always avaailble and I’m not driving thirty miles to buy protein powder. Yeah,
I’ll spend 10$ + to buy something when I can order have it delivered to my office or stop by walmart. Some of you people are retarded. It’s protein powder.

I also have access to pharmaceutical grade supplements at wholesale cost. I order online or over the phone. Where do you think these mom and pop stores get their stuff to sell? Mean old companies that are incorporated.

Again for many convenience is important. And it’s just protein powder. You live out in the sticks, some small town, rural area. You have less options. The last thing I’m going to do is drive all over creation to get something I can buy in a grocery store.

Here in Mexico my options are GNC, Nutrissa (like GNC but also sells icecream), Walmart, Sams Club and whenever I have a client travelling down to visit Biotest. The local stores buy from Walmart or Sams then put a mark up.

“These workouts are done on a treadmill, which allows for convenience with both performance and timing. While you can do these as outdoor sprints, you’ll run into the issue of clock-watching.”

“Sprinting on a treadmill is a bit tricky. Be careful, and be sure to use the handrails as you jump on and off. When you’re resting, simply grab the handrails and jump onto the side rails of the treadmill. To jump back on, grab the handrails and start sprinting again. Maintain your grip on the handrails for the first second or two.”

I’d imagine the above would make for some hilarious youtube videos. Yeah, jump ONTO a treadmill that was moving at your previous SPRINT speed.

At my old job I was in charge of supplies and would move stuff around when we got new shipments and there was a lady there who refused to let me pick up heavy things saying that I would never be able to have kids because I would ruin my uterus. She would make me wait until a guy could come help…or I would wait until she went on break and then move it myself.

Its more about the experience you get from the shop owners. The one I mentioned is run by an IFBB pro and his wife who has a a good competition history herself. She is also a nutritionist.

That’s why I go where I go. The mom and pops as you call them are usually run by lifestyle members who have or are high level performers.

They genuinely want to see you succeed because they want to see the sports they dedicated their lives to become more widespread.

If I had to drive a half hour or even catch a greyhound once a month to learn from these people I would.

So for me it isn’t about avoiding mean corporations. Its gaining knowledge.

Funny thing is, in my experience, GNC is normally the most expensive place you could find something.

If I need something now and can’t get it at a grocery store, I’ll go to Vitamin Shoppe. Everything else is ordered online.

There probably are mom and pop supp stores around here, but I don’t know about them and they’ll probably not be any cheaper than VS is anyway. But if one were closer, I’d go there for more convenience.

Okay some may recognize this others may not. Was in a log not to long ago.

ok you could get 230 but first of all your grip is bad ok. change it. WHat do you weigh? You need to grab bar as tight as possible non of this pussy holding stuff. Secondly your run up to your new 1 rep max should have less trys at it. Yes a good warm up is essential but then get down to business and do singles.

I know we all like to say we did such and such when we were younger but I did press 220 at 160 at 19 years of age. But i did it from the floor with a clean and press. nevertheless you have to approach that bar with anger and tighten up your fat( tighten up your entire body, take a deep breath and hold then scream like a banchiee( no disrespect to any American Indians) and you will do it.

As a person of Irish descent I take offense that banshee is referred to as American Indian. If you’re going to use mythical creatures as examples, please get your country of origin correct.

The thing I hear the most that pisses me off is people saying they don’t want to get too big. The response I get pretty much 100% of the time. If only it were so easy…

Native Americans aren’t mythical. My understanding is they simply went extinct several hundred years ago.

My brother and I are coaches on the same staff. Our offseason has been intense and we were discussing easing off or deloading a week for recovery. My brother who is very smart but an idiot when it come to strength training suggesting we test their maxes which would allow them to recover.

Apparently he doesn’t think pushing your limits of absolute strenght is very taxing on the body. I didn’t even want to get into CNS.

Agreed. This is honestly the only one that actually bothers me to hear…as if there is ANYONE on the planet who accidentally got HUGE.

It ALWAYS comes from some guy who has no chance in hell of ever getting really big if they wanted to.
