All you vintage gamers remember “Duke Nukem 3D”, where the gunslinging hero’s one of several power-up’s was a little container described as “Steroids” that Duke could ingest and would give him super speed, temporary invulnerability, and power for a short time
(Hey, I guess oral cycles of AAS were cool with the big guy/;-)…
This makes him my favorite superhero, unashamed of using roid’s to battle the invading alien hordes, anything to get an edge and survive in combat! I’ve created/attached a “Test-a-monial” to that effect (Anyone who wants the full sized wallpaper can PM me with an addy and I’ll send it you, and yes, I am the same voted one of the “Top 10” back in the early 90’s)…So, Hail to the King, Baby! Nobody steals our Chicks’:and lives!..
It makes me feel old that Duke Nukem 3D is considered vintage. I remember playing the original Duke Nukem, and even that is no where near being vintage in my books.

Did not mean “vintage” in a bad way|:-)…As John Steed would say: “Those were the days…and…They still are!”…Example:I have one of those discs with like 500 levels on it, most are DM, but many have enemies pre-positioned…I DL’d the “JFDuke” program, which adds advanced textures and enables you to play external levels, so I set up a few and Frag Up at least once a month as a stress reliever…Try it, you’ll like it! (Don’t forget to play Duke “Manhatten Project”, super graphics and combination of original Duke and Duke 3D…Very, very cool and not too bad on the wallet/;^)…DukeSpeak:“Your face, your ass, what’s the difference”…

Ahh, the old Apogee games… I can remember downloading the demos for those via BBS!
What’d they give you, like the first chapter or something?
Never did end up buying one of their games, though. Just kept playing the demos.
Remember the level where he dropped in on the boss and said “I’m going to rip your head off and shit down your neck!”
After you killed the boss, the cut scene had Duke ripping his head off, then dropping trou and getting a newspaper and sitting down on his open neck for a leisurely read.
Classic.
“Shake it baby!” (While offering money to stripper)
Has anyone noticed that Duke Nukem bears an uncanny resemblance to “Duke” of the “G.I. Joe” series of books/anime? (both are muscular with bleached blonde flat-topped haircuts…Nukem must be his “evil twin”,since he’s admittedly gone to the dark side of the force and loves strippers, something Lady J would never approve of/ Begs the “Chicken or the Egg” question too…

That was pretty awesome, taking the braggadocio to a literal level!.. R.Lee Ermy, who had this line in his D.I. repetoire (and used it in the film version of “Full Metal Jacket”) would most definitely approve!/;^)

Yeah that game was full of great one-liners. Like when he’d see himself in a mirror “Damn, I look GOOD!”
i dont think i ever played that. i played a 2D version on a cd full of games and game demos like wolfenstein 3D and commander keen, and this game where you go about a 3D maze shooting at geometric shapes. most of the games would not work, it sucked mostly. but i would love to find that cd again.
