Dude, You are Swole

This thread is classic. I got an a disagreement with one of the higher ups at work one day. The next day I was informed by one of the group leaders who was at a meeting held by the bosses that I need to stop taking steroids, because people are afraid of my having roid rage. Because of course anyone who touches a weight is clearly on steriods.

I’m a small guy by this sites standards so I can only imagine how rough it must be for someone like Prof. X to put up with peoples lame remarks.
Damn, i’d lose my frigging mind if I got accused of using steroids at work! I’ve had enough problems with rumors going around about me, without that kind of crap to add to it.

Love the indirect insult, I probably would’ve snapped at whomever said that to me.

I would too…if I had any other source of income. Where else am i going to get health insurance and pays 11.50 an hour?
Rudy’s BBQ pays 16/hr for a meat slicer plus insurance…just throwin that out there.

It’s funny how people sound when they ask you a question, because you know they were thinking about it long before they actually spoke up.

On the subject

I was at a party at my neighbor’s house when a 45 year old woman asks “what do you lift weights or something? you have veins popping out all over the place…”

The best was the friend in college who would search my cabinets everytime he would come over looking for the “roids.” He would always get frustrated and ask “where are they?!?,…I know you’ve got’em…”

dude"What do you take other than protein? I know that’s not all genetics"

me"Protein, creatine, multi, fish oil"

dude"Oooh, so you have a creatine dealer around here…"

I hate people sometimes.

I know this has happened to you before. Someone makes a comment like: Your arms are as big as my head or are you on steroids. We get this all the time. But ask yourself, would it be ok to say the same dumb crap to someone that is obese like: Dude, you are big as a …

No, you can’t. Its considered impolite, so why is it ok for perfect strangers to get by saying the same things to you.

Point of the post - What’s the dumbest muscle head comment someone’s said to you?
This was in my freshman Nutrition class.

Americanized Chinese Dude - “Get rid of the excess.” Grabs my arm.

Me - “Get rid of the excess.” Points to his gut covered in Doritos crumbs.

Ive lifted at Gold’s Gym twice. The first time I did deadlifts, and was told to quit dropping the bar or I would break it (I shit you not). The second time I was doing a squat day in the lone squat rack. I had a 5x5 at 405 for my work sets. Following my lift, I was in the lockerroom, just finished changing and was guzzling some protein getting ready to leave when a 105 pound needledick walks up to me and the conversation goes this way.

Slapdick - “Dude what do you squat?”
Me - “525”
Slapdick - “I only squat 200 but I’m all natural”
Me - “So am I”
Slapdick - “No you’re not (pointing at my protein)”
Me - I shook my head and started walking away
Slapdick - “well do you take creatine?”
Me - continued shaking my head, and left the building

Whats the heaviest dumbbell you can curl?

I am noticing this more and more lately…and it is coming from guys who should be old enough to know better. I keep hearing, “I don’t even take any protein so I’m ALL natural”…as if protein is now seen as “cheating” somehow.

I do like how he has to mention the weight he uses with a disclaimer about how “natural” he is…as if that means he doesn’t suck at it. If you have to add “but I’m natural” to the end of a statement about your progress so it doesn’t seem so bad, I think it is time to accept you just need to find a new hobby.

You’re better than me, I would’ve made that fool feel very, very dumb.

As you can see,I have to disagree with some of you guys who say that none of these comments are original. Some of them really are.
All of these…

Oh and they always know some one who lifts more, or its, you should be bigger/stronger now. Or, ‘you’ll get fat when you stop training’

I do take steroids, but got accused of taking them jut as much when I was natural.

I guy came up to me the other friday night when I was out, overweight, a smoker, regular drinker and coked out of his head and called me out saying “on the roids are you?” I just said yes I am actually, and do you know what’s funny? two of the side effects are hair loss and man breasts, yet you have both, and I have neither, and you’ve never taken any steroids. Apparently I was supposed to look and feel stupid?

The people who make these comments all have the same shit in common, their out of shape lazy ignorant fuck’s who wish they had the self discipline to at least exercise. They reassure themselves by discrediting your achievements and telling themselves that the steroids do all the work.

I agree, my bottle of test washes my gym clothes, drives me to the gym, pays my fees, showers me, cooks for me, washes my blender, pays for my protein powder and does my entire workout for me, and lets me reap all the benefits, how generous…

I played Ball in college, and at the apartments we lived at there was a hottub that we would all kick it in with the ladies during the winter. High School guys occasionaly tried to crash the party to scope out the college chicks, and would always end up focussing more time on us than the girls, asking us about how we were so big, our diets, lifting routines in the weightroom, what supplements we took etc. This is one of the conversations we had one night.

Slappy - “Bro, I don’t take creatine”
Me - “Why not”
Slappy - “Haven’t you heard what it can do to you?”
Me - “NO I haven’t, what does it do?”
Slappy - “Didn’t you ever take health class? That stuff has some serious side effects”
Me - “Really? Like what”
Slappy - “Roid Rage, Acne, Bitch Tits, Cancer, Heart Attacks, makes your balls shrink.”
Me - “Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…Thanks bro”

just after finishing a set. “so what steroids are you on then?”

How much do you bench? me: 220lbs
how many reps? me: 4
no man i mean for like 5 sets. me: ???

and my all time favourite. “You shouldn’t lift that much, you should lift something you can feel workin but not proper burnin.” WTF.

I also enjoy all the older guys whom always are quick to tell me that “back in the day” they used to be a bull like I am. However in their time they didn’t have to lift weights to get strong, they simply just worked hard and lived a much tougher life style.

Damn Youre Swollen.

Just remembered another one

“you should stop wasting your energy lifting weights and do something productive”

“all big guys are too slow’”

“Muscle turns to fat”

How much can you lift? (no matter what the answer is) I/My brother/dad/uncle/friends cats former owner can/could/does lift twice as much

Weight lifting gives you arthritis/ hernia/ whatever

Protein powder causes brain hemorrhages (seriously)

If you haven’t gor a six pack your training’s wrong

All time favorite myth right here

Him “Dude, how do you lift that much”
Me “Years of dedication.”

Him “How did you get that big? what do you lift?”
Me “-explains eating first, and then training
Him “But i do this —”
Me “Well, then we can deduce that THAT isnt working”

Him “Do you take steroids?”
Me “No, if i did id be much larger”
Him “Yea, id probably be as big as you if i took em”
Me “Maybe after a couple years. you dont take steroids one day and wake up 250+ the next”
Him “Well i mean, if i was taking good stuff, and like creatine and stuff”
Me “OH ok. Hey i gotta get back to lifting.”

and so, so many more…
