Duck Dynasty: Beginning of the End?

‘Duck Dynasty’ Under Fire Following Star’s Incendiary Anti-Gay Remarks

[i]Speaking with GQ, Robertson lamented that when “everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong … sin becomes fine.” So just what qualifies as sinful in his book?

“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there; bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,”

Phil probably should have cut himself off at this point, but instead he paraphrased Corinthians. “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers; they won’t inherit the kingdom of God,” he warned. “Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”[i]

I really enjoy Duck Dynasty, especially Uncle Sy, but fear this really could bring down the show.

Thoughts?

Fuck Duck fucking Dynasty. I grew a big ass beard recently and I swear to god if I had heard one more stupid fucking “Hey bro are you from Duck Dynasty / Boston Red Sox?” line I probably would’ve snapped.

Not that I’ve ever seen this dumbass show, though.

This will have no negative impact whatsoever on the show. None. If anything it will be similar to when the CEO of Chick-Fil-A voiced his opinion and sales soared. GLAAD and other organizations would like you to believe that the overwhelming majority of Americans are on their side but that is simply not true.

I have not even once watched the show but I am willing to put good money on the fact that nothing negative will happen.

I don’t watch the show but I think he is entitled to his opinion. Just don’t be surprised at backlash if you are a public figure.

I’m pretty sure they are not going to lose a lot of viewers but sponsorship could take a hit.

You guys haven’t lived if you haven’t seen duck dynasty.

I have seen it, just doesn’t do much for me. I guess I live around too many rednecks to find it amusing anymore.

I shaved because of this show. Not that I hate it or whatever, just got annoyed for the same reasons you did.

I don’t think it’s really gonna hurt viewership. I doubt they got a lot of the gay market anyway.

I don’t think viewership is the issue, it’s sponsors pulling their adds and the network feeling the pressure.

At least that’s how imagine these things working.

I do not think this will change anything for the show. Its amazing to me that the vast majority of the one who preach tolerance and acceptance (liberals and anti christians) do not accept any opinion or belief that runs counter to theirs and/or are so threatened by other beliefs. Thank you mr Robertson for not backing down

Hmm, pretty sure I just said he was entitled to his opinion. If you go bashing others be prepared to hear about it though.

Signed, liberal and agnostic

I agree with her.

If you shit on gay people, they might shit right back.

Free speech for everyone, no matter where they park their dick.

LOL. is it just me or do the GLAAD quotes in there seem like the only really bigoted ones?

Good grief that group is intolerant of anyone who disagrees with them.

The last time the Duck Dynasty guy made a strong religious statement it worked really well for them. People loved it. TLC stuck behind them and sponsors stayed on board.

The goofy part that I’ll probably never understand is equating homosexuality with bestiality. I know a good handful of gays and none of them go outside of species. Hell, they don’t even go outside of their own gender.

Rather boring if you put it that way…

Gotta hand it to TLC for not only standing behind them…(that’s not ghey at all)… but also doing this while DD is aired on another network.

I don’t see it as shitting on them or being an issue. He just said via his religious and moral beliefs; the thinks being gay is wrong and immoral. When did that become hate?

He isn’t actively trying to harm or hurt gays. He simply is stating he does not agree with it. Now if he went beyond that and was purposely trying to disenfranchise them… then sure. I just don’t see this as throwing shit at them. The gay crowd will toss it in your face all day long and that is okay, but one man states his beliefs calmly and he gets demonized and railroaded.

FYI - I am all for gay marriage and equal rights as I don’t give a flying fuck who anyone sleeps with or is attracted to. Everyone deserves to be happy, but tolerance goes both ways.

“My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the Bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and men are meant to be together. However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity. We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other.” -Phil R

I can deal with Christians like this no problem and I am agnostic as well.

The thing is that according to Christianity all sin is equal. A sin is a sin “and the wages of sin is death.” Lie, cheat, steal, cheat, murder, sex outside of marriage, homosexuality, beastiality, terrorism, bullying… It’s all a sin.

Very applicable… Wait for it

I agree with this

Were adulterers, idolaters, male prostitutes, the greedy, drunkards, or swindlers offended by this? I’d like their input.
