Nah man, it’s fine with me.
Wait, what?

Well I am pretty greedy and drink like a fish, but in a strange way, that means I got my priorities in order so… no.
Dont care, neither money nor booze related.

The goofy part that I’ll probably never understand is equating homosexuality with bestiality. I know a good handful of gays and none of them go outside of species. Hell, they don’t even go outside of their own gender.

Gotta hand it to TLC for not only standing behind them…(that’s not ghey at all)… but also doing this while DD is aired on another network.
Oops! My bad.

He isn’t actively trying to harm or hurt gays. He simply is stating he does not agree with it. Now if he went beyond that and was purposely trying to disenfranchise them… then sure. I just don’t see this as throwing shit at them. The gay crowd will toss it in your face all day long and that is okay, but one man states his beliefs calmly and he gets demonized and railroaded.
FYI - I am all for gay marriage and equal rights as I don’t give a flying fuck who anyone sleeps with or is attracted to. Everyone deserves to be happy, but tolerance goes both ways.
“My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the Bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and men are meant to be together. However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity. We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other.” -Phil R
I can deal with Christians like this no problem and I am agnostic as well.
I agree with this

old man Phil Robertson seems like a pretty cool guy to kick it with.
Show is hilarious.
This will not hurt it.
Why are those screaming for tolerance so quick to call for those with a different opinion than them to be shut down??
/personally don’t mind the gays getting married, but damn…can a dude not have his own beliefs?

I do not think this will change anything for the show. Its amazing to me that the vast majority of the one who preach tolerance and acceptance (liberals and anti christians) do not accept any opinion or belief that runs counter to theirs and/or are so threatened by other beliefs. Thank you mr Robertson for not backing down
The reason these are always listed together is because sexual sins are usually mentioned specifically. The thing that a lot of people forget when they bust out the homosexuality=bestiality=pedophilia line is that all three of those also are the same as having sex outside of the confines of marriage. Phil didn’t purposely gloss over that fact though, if you have ever had sex outside of marriage he was taking a swing at you with those comments as well. All sins against the body and no sin in God’s eyes is any greater than the other.

Why would people who preach tolerance accept an opinion or belief that preaches intolerance? That would defeat the whole purpose.

Right because if its not the liberal or anti christian belief then it is intolerant. You just proved his point.

You missed it; he classified it as a sin along with other sins.
AAAnnnnnnnd Phil has been suspended by A&E after threats by pro-gay groups.
So much for free speech.

It also defeats the purpose for them to be intolerant of intolerance.
What you really mean is they preach tolerance for only people or things that agree with them, which is exactly the same as what they people they label “intolerant” do. Pretty much everyone ever is tolerant of people who agree with them. In what sense then are they any more in favor of tolerance than anyone else?
And yes I agree, tolerance as an end (what most liberals claim to be in favor of) is entirely self-defeating and nonsensical. To believe in tolerance as intrinsically right is to force yourself to accept that intolerance is just as valid which is contradictory.
Lay it out and look at it:
Phil stated his beliefs and is getting crucified for it; sounds vaguely familiar. You have to admire a man who stands up for his beliefs regardless of the outcome. He didn’t attack the gay community as they would have you believe. Take it down a notch G&L, I didn’t hear from any other community that was mentioned.
A&E kowtowed to a loud minority, the shame is on them. At the end of each episode, they show everyone around the table and Phil says a prayer. A&E approved of Phil’s Christian beliefs then but not now? You can’t have it both ways A&E!

While I don’t believe he should be suspended, free speech only applies in regards to government intervention. I am not free to spout my views in whatever forum I choose without repercussions.
A&E is a business and have a right to look out for their bottom line. One of my coworkers has a daughter and a gay son. His daughter is an avid watcher of DD. First words out of her mouth were I’ll never watch that fucking show again.

Not a bad strategy on the part of A/E. Appeases the Gay groups and it will mobilize the fans. It will for sure bring in new viewers because this story is plastered all over the news. Yahoo comments on the articles dealing with this are already over 60,000!

Exactly A@E has every right to suspend or even cancel the show as they are a private business. They could just frame it under the light the comments brought them bad press and thus he was terminated. Has happened to other people as well. Just as you mentioned all about the bottom line.
But what they really have done is pleased a small minority and fucked themselves. They will and have lost so many viewers it will be unbelievable. But that is A@E’s choice which is fine. I am sure they weighed the loss/ benefit ratio.
It is just sad that these days voicing your personally beliefs can get you railroaded so hard. PC police and pussification at its finest.

Exactly.
How many gays actually watch that show consistently? I would imagine that it is an EXTREMELY small number of viewers but like I said earlier, this is about sponsorships and commercials.
They don’t want companies pulling their adds because of his comments and the GLAD backlash. It really is sad that the groups who shout tolerance from the mountaintops are the quickest to get upset with other people who don’t agree wth their views.

It might have been his intention to do that, but it sounded to me as if he ranked homosexuality as a greater sin than bestiality:
“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there; bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,”
Maybe that’s why the bestialists aren’t nearly as outraged as by Phil’s words as the gay rights activists.
From what I had read previously Phil Robertson wanted out after this season anyways, I think this whole thing is a publicity stunt. I do watch the show and my beliefs are very similar to Mr. Robertson’s. If people would read the whole of what he said there was absolutely no reason for everyone to get their panties in a wad, but just like everything else that goes one we here what we want to here and we read what we want to read.
Come on people open up your damn minds, not everyone thinks the same way. We all have the right to our own opinions and have the right to speak them, especially when asked. It just so happens that he hit directly on two hot buttons that the media likes to blow out proportion.
