I hope it doesn’t get in the way while your learning to make websites…

Yeah, if the nail is black and blue underneath it’s probably gonna fall off. You could always make the process quicker by grabbing a pair of pliers and getting it done yourself.

Make sure you grab a bottle or two of 151 with those pliers… ouch.

The last time I damaged a nail (big toe) bad enough to blacken it, I took a trip to the tool box. Opened up the drill bit case, selected the smallest bit, and drilled into the middle of the black nail until I knew I hit the pool of blood beneath the nail. I withdrew the bit and out squirted a little stream of blood. Pressure relieved.

Before I drilled, I cleaned the bit with alcohol.

I have heard that a red hot paper clip will achieve the same result, but that sounded too Abu Graib to me. I don’t mind performing surgery on myself, but self torture seems to be taking it a bit far.

If you decide to drain it, and if the toe continues to be swollen and red after you have drained the blood, see a doctor to ensure it has not become infected.

actually the paper clip works great once you heat it it melts right into the nail. Problem was I either waited to long and the blood dried or I didn’t go deep enough because no blood came out.

ice it 15 mins on 15 mins off for a while. i dropped a plate on my big toe a while back and iced it immediately. very little swelling, the discolored nail is almost grown out now (basic first aid course seems to work)

Hahah

Poking yourself with a hot paper clip is torture, but drilling into your toe is, you know, just your everyday DIY surgery.[/quote]

i thought that was ironic as well…

What’s even more ironic is that on a daily basis I deal with a lot more paper clips than I do drill bits.

Consider yourself lucky. At least you didn’t smash your junk between 2 dumbells.

dude thats gotta hurt, a about month ago i droped a 7.5kg plate on my big toe from about a foot and a half off the ground when i was loading up a dumbell.

Take a hammer and finish the job. It should look like roast beef when you’re done.
