Sucking on his gallon of skim milk with 4 scoops of protein powder in it as he posts…Skinny Bastard, you heard DRE, and I will start that forum if he doesnt. Look, it is either that, or I am gonna make you gay, and make you the girlfriend of that poster who was spiking his girlfriends drink with whinny…your choice bro…eat…or become that guys girl…either way, at least you will grow!! Now, just to give you an idea, it is 10:00 here, and I have already had 12 hard boiled eggs (no yolks)(between 6 and 8 am, I peel them at night, and eat them on my way to work) a big bowl of pasta and lowfat ground beef with some tomato sauce,(8:30 at work while the rest of the idiots are having doughnuts) and am just starting my daily gallon of skim milk with protein powder…so what have YOU eaten today??
Timbo, I emailed you my workout, but I will post it in case there are other skinny bastards out there. I use GVT a lot, which is 10 sets of 10 usually supersetting antagonistic bodyparts. Except for like say tonight, which is hamstrings and shoulders. I used to do deadlifts / squats on the same day, but with GVT…it is too much and I want to die after, so my split goes Chest/back Hams/shoulders bis’/tris and Quads/calves with the excercises being DB decline press/chins deadlifts/DB military press close grip press/curls and squats/standing calf. Take a day off, and do it again. As you see Timbo, basic and HEAVY…all ya need. Yes I know…no flyes, one arm pulls, tricep kickbacks, leg extentions or any other foo foo exercise…but somehow or another I grow…lol (that was sarcasm!) There are a lot of things you can try, but I grow best on this program, and use it for 6 weeks, then take 2 months off of it, do whatever program on T-mag interests me for 4 weeks, try another program for 4 weeks, then do GVT again for 6 weeks. It IS boring, and tedious, but it WORKS. I actually wish you could do a program all year round and keep growing from it…cause I would never go off GVT…It almost seems like I can “feel” myself growing on it. PS I hope your eating while your reading this!
Question for John Berardi…you have seen my post below about what my diet looked like the first 3 years or so…it wasn’t exactly clean, but I grew!! With your Massive Eating…is it designed for everybody, or is it more for advanced lifters?? To me, (however, I don’t have your experience or qualifications) someone just starting to gain as an ectomorph (that being my only caveat…an ectomorph) should just eat ANYTHING that comes their way…especially if they are young like Timbo is, and have lots of T naturally. To me just lots of protein, and lots of food should fit the bill, until they get to say 25 or so when the metabolism starts to slow down, then they gotta be more careful. I was curious as to your opinion however. As far as myself, I keep myself at 10% all summer, and don’t mess with my diet too much (got it down to a science) however, when october rolls around, and I start to “bulk up” again, I intend on trying your massive eating program, so I will let ya know how it works for me.
whopper, whopper, whopper…I don’t know where you’re shoutin’ out from, bro, but what we need to do is–in the words of sargeant Dre–relocate Timbo’s ass right there to get this jobby job taken care of! I don’t see how hittin’ the double century mark would be a problem with you bustin’ my chops and making sure they’re chewin at all times…except during training when we kick ass with GVT–although you’d be using the DBs with triple digits and I’d be asking the old lady if she minded me working in with the pink ones. Anyway, it’s about noon here and I’m preparing to get my grub on. So far it’s been 6 egg whites (I do it the same way as you, baby), 3 packs oatmeal, cup of cottage cheese, tbsp flax, fish oil, can of tuna and some pollock, 2 cups white rice (cooked), broccoli…next on the menu chicken, 2 cups white rice, brussel sprouts/cauliflower and some flax…after that we’ll have a whey shake, tear some iron up (shoulders and hammies, how convenient), Surge derivative, then some beef and rice, which will be about 1000 cals, and before we hit the sack some cottage cheese with some GROW and some peanut butter…oh and don’t forget the Jell-O. It works out to about 4000 today–yeah, we need more, but that’s a new PR for your Ethiopian friend. I think what I need to get out of is the whole 6-7 meal a day bullshit structure and just feed through an IV. What do you think, big guy?
I've done GVT--the original--too, my man, and I love that to death! It's awesome! I did chest/biceps, back/triceps, hammies/quads and no shoulders except for some raises on thigh day. Exercises: Decline DBs/BB Curls, TBar Rows/Close Grip Press, Squats/Stiff-Leg DLs. I did it back in November and December, but you guessed it, ate like a girly man and so no size gains but some strength gains. So maybe it's time for your boy to hook it up...although I am doing some decent volume work at the moment. Whopper, quick question: when you superset, do you take any rest between sets? The original had me taking about 60-75 seconds between all sets, not just between supersets...also, do you do any of the supplementary sets after the big 10? Alright, my man, you know what time it is...this is actually rather fun. Keep pushin' me, baby, keep pushin'. I'm already fired up to eat and train!!!
Nate Dogg, you dirty lil’ Dogg…you’re just adding fuel to a fire that’s already outta hand, baby! As the great strength coach, Ian King would say Bring the Pain, baby, bring it, cause Timbo converts that to muscle burning passion like his body is converting all these nutrients to LBM (we hope:-)
Sargeant Dre, sir, Target on Lock, sir. ETA: Jan 2002! No excuses, my man…let’s do this dance.
OK as far as time between sets. I have a nice watch with a countdown timer on it I set for 90 seconds. Using bench/chins as an example, I hit the bench, as soon as that set is done, hit the countdown timer. Wait about 15 to 30 seconds and hit the chins. When this is done, I just park my butt on the bench and wait til 90 seconds is up and bench again. With GVT you do GOTTA eat like a bear tho…or it is useless. An interesting twist on tris that I did that actually put some size on my pipes was that for 6 weeks I did cable pushdowns…with a twist. I started doing reverse grip with a weight I could do up to 8 on. As soon as I fatigued, I reversed grip and repped it out…usually 4 to 6 more reps. This was ONE set. For some reason it really helped my tris…but this time I am doing close grips…trying that.
With tempo..my first sets tend to be nice and slow and controlled..trying to get the burn by 10. As the sets go on, I tend to speed up tempo, but always keep good form and dont bounce the weight, except on occasion when I wanted to get that last set to 10 so I could move up in weight.
As far as IV solutions for food…its called milk with protein powder…I take it everywhere I go. Give you an example…took the vixen to Great Adventure…a theme park. She brought iced tea, I brought milk with PP. It is easy, and you can even take it to class!! NOW EAT!!
Nice exchange boys. I’m enjoying seeing my boys Whopper, Dre and JB giving Timbo plenty of encouragement. Timbo, just remember to keep things simple. Basic exercises, basic foods and a lot of hard work. I’m telling you, that’s the key. I’ve learned the hard way by wasting the past year or two on too much variety and crazy programs. You don’t need any crazy programs that change every two weeks. Just a lot of food and hard training. John McCallum was using a program similar to GVT way back in the day. And he recommended working out 6 days a week! Now that is some crazy shit. If you’ve seen his workouts, you know that the average person wouldn’t last long, but his ideas are good and advice is solid. But his volume may be a little too much. But that doesn’t mean you should go low volume.
My workouts are very basic (5x5) with basic exercises (deadlifts, rows, close-grip benches, chins, overhead presses, shurgs, calves, squats, benches, dips, bb curls). It doesn’t get any better than that. I love working hard on a few exercises. I feel so damn good, and I’m making good progress so far. I still have quite a way to go, but I’m motivated to tear shit up. And I am eating often, even though I hope to lose a little fat off the abs. I think with the right balance of exercise and food, I should be able to burn some fat off the stomach. With a little help from T2 and MD6, that should be all I need. I haven’t cut calories at all. I’ll keep you posted. By the way, this is the first time I’ve used MD6 (2 caps a day, original formula), and it really helps to give you a boost prior to your workout. I went mountain biking after work yesterday. I popped one cap of T2 and MD6, and I felt great! I rode for an hour and 45 minutes straight. And this was a mix of up and down hill on the road as well as a variety of trails. It’s all good.
Whopper, my main man and driving force, just a quick lil’ bone to pick with ya:-) I know you don’t park your butt on that bench for 90 whole seconds! I guarantee you’re in front of that mirror, flexing, posing and feelin’ damn good about tearin’ it up, my man! Anyway, so you think your boy Timbo (aka SB) should join you in his quest for size utilizing good ol’ GVT? Do you think Timbo should try to make his way on the Burger King .99 cent great-taste menu as Whopper Jr right underneath his icon Whopper? Well, big dog, you’re boy isn’t actually eating, he’s ready to go spark some growth in the gym…and believe me, nothing’s holding back the animal instincts in me today!
Nate Doggie Dogg, my man, you speak the gospel, bro. Just like everybody else, I always wanna get fancy and look for the magic pill, cure and training techniques just…but you know, it’s really starting to register. And, you’re right on about hard work. Nothing comes easy…unfortunately getting the amount of nutrients is the hardest part of the game and it shouldn’t be…but that’s all changing. As for a lil’ kick before training, I’ve tried MD6 once or twice in the past and it really hasn’t done a whole lot for me. I do a lot better with a nice ephedrine kick in the pants. You keep tearin’ it up though, my man, and I’ll do the same. We both have business to take care of, so let’s quick shootin shop and get dirty!
PRIVATE SKINNY BASTARD - WHAT IS THE DETAIL OF YOUR PLAN WITH THE WEIGHTS? Here is the story so far - I felt my most recent 4 day split (each bodypart once per week), about 10 sets to failure or close to, using 6-12 reps, gave me good gains with minimal fat. Before that I used forced reps and heavy negatives for a few surprise gains but will leave them until after my next phase. Nate is using a 5x5 going for body comp changes and Whopper prefers traditional GVT and is going for BIG. MY CURRENT PLAN Im on 1 week active rest (after about 4 months flat out) and had planned to go for some adaptation gains with a short stint of HIT, or 5x5 then (hopefully stronger again) move to Poliquins full GVT 10x10 then 10x6.
As this is becoming something of a get big support group: NATE - hows progress on your current plan - if you dont do bf tests I found a tanita at a local sports store that I use now ant then to track body comp :). WHOPPER - your stats and progress are stellar, are you shooting for anything in terms of size or strength. NOW FOR MY PART - AN ADMISSION - I know Ive done exceptionally well because whilst I got to a chubby 180 (with abs) last year without much attention, Im 172 now (at 5'9-5'10) with 15.5 inch arms and have had 4 "you are gettin too big" comments in the last week, from good friends to workmates to a distant associate. Im pretty close to Bodz' "ideal" LBM and definetly look stockier, maybe shorter, and am sort of .. well .. "dont dieting" down - but no more than a few pounds to an honest 5% (where I get mad vascularity with lower ab veins). When I get there Ill go for a re assessment of proportions and asthetics and (hopefully) bulking in earnest. Pecs have blown up but could do with more, delts now really might be wide enough, and traps will get no more growth work. Whopper - I wish I was your size cause anyone would tell you, till now, my bulking has been as dedicated as yours and god knows Id love to continue it for years to come. I know I run the risk of obselesence but I dont want to risk asthetics, esp being more or less single. Darn Genetics, speaking of which .....
TIMBO - REMEMBER THAT MOVIE BY THOSE E MEN CALLED "GOOD WILL HUNTING" ABOUT THAT GUY THAT WAS GIFTED AND SMART AND SHOULD HAVE USED IT BUT DIDNT - BUT AT THE END HE ACTUALLY GOT HIS SWERVE ON - THATS KINDA HOW THIS IS, YOU OWE IT TO SHORTER OR OTHERWISE LESS GENETICALLY BLESSED TMEN TO GET "TOO BIG" BEFORE EVER WORRYING ABOUT BF .... I LOVE YOU TIM, WE COULDA BEEN TOGETHER, THINK ABOUT IT ;).
Sargeant Dre, you stole my heart, big fella. Damn, you’re whoopin’ some ass, aren’t ya? Keeping the bodyfat in check and making some nice gains. Anyway, that last comment you made pretty much sums things up: Time’s been tickin’ away for far too long, and I’ve got the dedication, knowledge and know-how to get where I want–and my boys want–me to be, and that’s large and in charge. BTW, I refuse to make excuses regarding genetics or label myself or anyone a hardgainer…that’s just total bullshit. It’s a matter of just kickin’ some ass, takin’ some names and finding out what the hell works.
Timbo’s current plan of action in the gym: D1> Arms; D2> Quads and Calves; D3> Recovery and Morning Cardio; D4> Back and Chest; D5> Shoulders and Hammies; D6> Recovery and Cardio; D7> Repeat; Each bodypart basically gets hit hard with 10 sets, all taken to failure, half of which are in 5-7 rep range and the other half in 8-12 range. Rest-Pause used frequently on the last set of 5-7; Drop Sets also find their way into the plan occasionally; Deadlifts are also done on D2 for 5x5; Abs get hit almost everyday, in a manner which Ian King recommends (splitting them into 5-6 different sections). Cardio you ask? Yes, I like to get in 20-30 minutes on my off days to get the metabolism fired up and get my arse movin’ and off to great day. It works very well for me, but I just have to compromise by eating appropriately. After 2-3 more weeks of this, I will probably go with a more 5x5 friendly routine or keep the reps in the 4-6 range with 6-9 sets per bodypart.
Dre, big cat, sounds like you’re doing some nice work there, buddy. As you’ve mentioned this does seem to have become a support group of sorts and I’ll just give you a pat on the back yourself, chief. That’s some nice work, but what are you giving me hell for about not wanting to jump from 160 to 200 while you’re not there yourself, my man? BTW, Sarge, how old are you? Alright, big guy, time to get some rest…another big day ahead tomorrow of exams and eating.

Dre…my goals are actually just a “complete package” deal. I have been involved in the martial arts for a long long time, and compete. I lift to get bigger and stronger. But overall, it is a confidence thing for me. I lift cause I LIKE the feeling I have of security that I am big and strong, and able to defend myself better than 98% of the people out there. I think it makes me a better man for my wife, and my child, because it creates a quiet confidence that I have, and I know it makes her secure that wherever we might go, she knows her man “has her back” which allows her to be more of herself…she tends to be a bit of a wild child. I am very old fasioned in that I believe a man should be his wifes protector and defender, and fortunatly, in that reguard she is just as old fasioned. There is also a confidence that cannot be explained about when you walk into a bar or club, and know if anything happeded, you would be one of the last ones standing. It doesn’t mean ya flaunt it, just you KNOW its inside ya.
Also, when I was a Timbo, I had someone Nates size walk up to me during a party. This little guy was a lifter, and he was a bit drunk, but he said to me “You know, if I had your height, I would be looking magnificent!! You are a disgrace, that you have all that to work with, and your nothing but a skinny beanpole” That comment burns in me to this day, and whenever I get feeling slouchy, I remember what that dude said…and it fires me up to NEVER have someone make that kinda comment again.
Finally, in the ring, size is an intimidation factor. In the last 3 years of competitions, I have had 4 people “bow out” of the ring before the competition started because of my size…and it always makes me feel good…and have no respect for the gutless wimps!
Dre and Nate, it is with a heavy heart I take an exerpt from a Timbo email today. Timbo wrote "A premature note: Timbo’s up two pounds on the scale this morning and seems to be smoothing out a bit. I think some tweaking of meal timing is in order, " Gentlemen, I think we have before us a lost cause. This Skinny Bastard has put on 2 pounds and is worrying about FRIGGIN SMOOTHING OUT!!! AAAAAAAAAA!! -snatches SB and performs the Undertakers “Last Rites” on scrawny SB. Timbo, if you sit being such a nit picker…bro…I cant help ya. FRIGGIN GET BIG then worry about being CUT jeeezzz!! Dre bro…did ya ever smooth out whiile you were bulking? How bout you Nate? J.B.?? I sure as heck know I have smoothed myself right up to 17% B.F. before in my quest to get big…but poor crybaby Timbo puts on 2 pounds and is “smooting out” Guys…are we wasting our time here?
Dre, Timbo and Whopper! What’s up T-dudes? Dre, you are cracking my ass up! Hey, it sounds like you’ve had success with your training. And I second the motion for you to take a week off my man! Recover, divide and conquer!
As for me, training on the 5x5 is working well. Damn, I love it! I feel so freakin’ good. I’m training hard and adding 5-10lbs to my lifts each week. Now, you have to realize that I did start with lower weights because of past injuries. My strength levels were extremely low. but I am coming back quickly and getting close to my best lifts from a couple years ago. Once I match my best lifts, then it will be time to take it to the next level and really tear it up. My current 5x5 training will go until the end of the month. After that, I’m taking a week off because I will be in Portland for a week on vacation. And my vacation will be filled with mountain biking, hiking and rock climbing. So even though I’ll be off from the weights, I’ll still be active.
In order to prepare, I’ve been mountain biking on Tues and Thurs. I need to be ready for the trails in Portland. A couple friends of mine are coming with me. So we will have a blast. Once I come back, I will have four weeks of one of Poliquin’s favorite set/rep schemes: The Patient Lifter’s Method 6x2(4). After those four weeks, I have another week off from the gym and will be on vacation once again! When I come back, I will be starting Charles Staley’s Convergent Phase Training. I have copied the program and made changes so it is well-suited for me. So that will be another three months of training which will take me into October. I will evaluate where I’m at and go from there.
So my training is well planned. Also, I like the idea of using the Tanita scale to test bodyfat at the store! I do have a pair of AccuMeasure fat calipers. I got them at the Biotest Seminar in Orlando. They are still in the package and have not been used yet. I’ll bust them out when I am leaner! Like I said, I plan on getting a little leaner by using T2 and MD6. But I am NOT reducing calories. I am hoping those supplements along with my high activity level will help burn some fat. I’m not looking to be super lean. I’m not a bodybuilder, I’m not competiting, and I don’t need to be 5%. I just want to be around 7-8%. I don’t care if it takes three months. I have time, and I don’t want to sacrifice muscle mass or strength. So I’ll keep you posted. By the way, why don’t you send me your e-mail address? Me, Whopper and Timbo email each other often. As I’m sure a bunch of people are going to start getting pissy that we are posting this stuff. Must be jealousy or something because there are some very negative people who post on this site and have the balls to still call themselves T-men. Go figure.
Whopper, you are doing well my friend. Very well indeed. You are our inspiration for getting big and strong my man. Hey, watch out for those little guys! They tend to start shit with the big guys! LOL! But I told you why that is already! Hey, at least it motivated you to get big my man! Trust me, I've had the same thought about people I've met and known who were bigger, and if only I was their size. I'd definitely be bigger and stronger! But it's all good! I'm working with what I have, and right now, it's working real well! Timbo, keep eating! I'll talk to you guys soon. :)
Nate Dogg, don’t worry about people getting pissy about these posts. I’ve been reading this thread religiously and have found it to be very entertaining and educating to say the least. I love finding out how other t-men train, eat and live. You guys are all motivating me to kick more ass in the gym and in the kitchen.
Whopper, I can’t believe SB wrote that in an email! WTF is up with that? Two pounds and he’s getting smooth? C’mon SB, two pounds is nothing but some water weight. How do you expect to get to 180? And 200? Timbo, stop screwing around and do it up! Bro, I’ve been smooth for the past few months. I’m getting stronger and bigger at the moment. And I have never gained and not gotten smooth. If that was possible, all of us would be big and lean! For crying out loud, you are at like 6% bodyfat! What the hell are you whining about? I’m at 12-14% bodyfat, so I have more to whine about than you! And I’ve even gained 10 pounds since February. Shit, if I was as lean as you, I’d go on a FREAKING BULK cycle and go up to 12% bodyfat if I had too! Bro, if you don’t get your head on straight, then I don’t want your sorry ass coming down to visit me in Gatorville! That may be harsh, but you have got to get out of that pyschological mindset that you are in!
And remember, when you first start eating, you are going to gain a few pounds real quick. And you are going to feel "fat." But after a few more weeks, your body will adjust and it will be fine! So EAT, EAT, EAT, and keep training! Dammit man! Do I have to come up there and shove a gallon of milk in your pie hole or what? For crying out loud. I'm freakin' 5'4" and weigh 150-152lbs and have an ectomorphic body shape. You are six-freakin' feet tall and weigh 160lbs! Timbo, you are 8 inches taller than me and not more than 10lbs heavier. Now that is messed up bro. For each inch taller than me, you should be 10lbs heavier. So you should be weighing more than 200 easy. Now, I will say one thing. If you have an ectomorphic body (long, lean limbs, small bones), then maybe 190-200 is more your size. But you are still a long way off from that with your current thinking! So get up on it bro! Don't stop! EAT!
It is with mixed emotions I write this post. Part of me is feeling like I am deserting a T-man in need, the other part of me is angry enough to wring SB scrawny ass neck. SB, tell you what, when the day comes that you no longer worry about your abs, and “smoothing out”, and you are ready to put on some size, you drop me a line. As you know, I start a serious bulking routine in October, and you are welcome to join me…I will guarantee you that you WILL get smooth, you WILL lose your abs, and you WILL get BIG. I will NOT however put up with you bitching about getting smooth, getting “love handles”, or that you are not CUT. Until that day comes…you just keep posting all over this forum your little insights and ideas, and theroys…but you know what? No one will listen, cause your small, and not doing a damn thing to change that in my opinion. Dre…you are definetly a brother in iron, and I am proud to call you that. Your progress is impressive, and shows your dedication to yourself and to this thing we call the “iron game” Same with Nate D…bro, your working with what you were given, and I salute you. Your finally aware that it is the BASICS which make the difference, not a fancy supp, not a special routine…it all works, and nothing works…thats the enigma of it, and Nate bro, it sounds like you got that…and your doing exactly that…the basics, and I know you will grow big time over the next 6 months. So my T-brothers, as the Bizcuit song says “Keep Rollin Rollin Rollin!” Timbo, when your mindset changes, we will still be here…but we are gonna be a little bigger, a little stronger, and that gap between you and us is gonna be a little wider…one day, I hope for your sake you understand what it takes, because if you don’t, you will never reach where you should be. I am sorry, but I just don’t have the time to spoon feed someone who is still trying to play the same tired game of bulking up while keeping his abs…good luck SB.
As SB slowly but surely digs his ass out from the hole he dug
Dayumn, your boy drops his man whopper a line, actually stating with pride, that his bodyweight has increased--due to glycogen and water more than likely--he gets absolutely buried by the Undertaker himself!
Whopper…bro, you’re not wasting any time, words, or oxygen my man. The more you spit out, the more you share your own SB stories, the more it makes Timbo want this shit, the more realistic these goals become, bro. Like my man Nate Dogg said, it’s more psychological than any thing, and whopper you’re just making those obstacles obsolete, my man. So just keep pumpin’ your guns my man. It’s all good, and Timbo’s lovin’ and feedin’ off that. Like I said before, I’m having fun eating like a whopper. But I will beware when droppin’ future lines to ya, my man;-)Keep fightin’ the good fight, whopper, I got nuthin’ but love for ya.
Nate Doggie Dogg, you fire me up and bust me up too, bro. You’re tearin’ shit up in the gym and having a blast. I took a deep look at some of the pathetic weights I’m lifting these days (compared to a few years ago) and it’s just ridiculous! There’s so much motivation and inspiration out there, it’s just downright ridiculous. You’re right on about the disproportion of my mind and body. There’s a time and place for everything…and pretty boy Timbo (SB) knows what time it is right now. Like I’ve said before, there are no excuses and there’s no turning back. There’ll be times–especially at the beginning–when I’ll have doubts and what to go cry in my mammy’s arms but I know my boyz won’t let me slip. So hook it up, hook it up, and have some confidence in your boy. He’s 'bout it, 'bout it, baby!
Dre...just curious as to what you do during your Active Recovery week: reduced volume? no lifting? other activity? sit on your arse and eat bonbons? Yeah, I like the idea of using the public bodyfat scale.
My last post was written before whopper’s that appears just before it. Well, looks like SB has some serious soul searching to do…but I guarantee the last has not been heard from your boy.
Yo Timbo, what up?..Man I know the eating phobia thing…recovered from an eating disorder…went from obese to eating like a mouse. You need the kcals man! I know you are true to the game and I just wanna wish ya the best of luck and offer a suggestion. Bulk it with the cals and stay basic like Nate Diggy no doubt has been been sayin. You want the weight to go up focus on squats and Deadlifts. Little example…I was eating shitty about 6 monthsa go, trying to GAIN on 2400 cals…but I was Deadliftin and squattin like a mutha…Didn’t gain much weight but I kept everything I had(yes on the little intake) I tried JB’s massive eating and worked my way up to 3500 cals(i’m only 5’9 180 btw)well i was gaining …but i couldn’t afford the gym membership and had to garage it w/o a squat rack…the gains were no where near what I thought they should have been. I know that If I save up and get myself that squat rack and get my feed bag back on its gonna be on transformation. being that you have such low bf and are tall 190 is cake for you buddy…do it up
