Well, we had a shit week end.

My mom had a very mild stroke on Saturday, the hospital was a shit show. I could not get any information on her condition for a long time. Some one went psycho and the cops had to show up a lock down the ER.

Finally got some news after 2hrs of waiting, got her back home for the night.
My big brother lost his shit, as usual in those situation, so on top of giving him the info that I got I had to put up with him calling every 30 min and thinking about finding her a place in a res, selling her place and what if she dies…

Today she had a second episode, called 911 again but this time she stayed home after talking with the EMT. My bro is still a mess even the EMT told us as we were crossing back to our house. At least, today he did not cry because she was going to die.

Needless to say, that all plans went out the window. My mom may have a few more episodes but all is good as long as nothing last more then a minute or so and that she do her follow up with her neuro.

Tuesday morning,

My bro finally caved in and he is now in hospital for the next 24hrs.
Now, my mom is a bit stressed because he choose an hospital down town Montreal so she need someone to drive her to if she need to go see him.

But for now, she can rest at home and he is safe but his heart got a bit out of whack but his pace maker did not go off.

Apparently bikes are on sale. After having a look at second hand bike, I found one I really like, hybrid type perfect for commuting but not too roadie. I wanted to see a few more. Well for 50$ more I got the same bike brand spanking new, the other one was a few years old. I could also have got an other Trek for the same price with disc break but no fork. My shoulder will like the suspension, I think.

So today I did a short 7km in 20min. A good start pretty much the same distance to work but work is down hill going and up coming back. At 0oC at was a bit chilly. My brain is very happy to do some cardio stuff after the last few days and so far the shoulder is not complaining after the little ride.

Tuesday

A bit stiff from yesterday upper body work out, just on the right side but nothing to worry about.

It was supposed to be warm but it feels like 0oC. Still did 10 km bike ride. Mostly on the side of the road and some bike path. I am out of shape. The new bike makes pedaling more enjoyable with out being a road bike. The very little suspension is just enough that my shoulder is ok with the ride. Some how I still prefer standing up then sitting. Also rim breaks! don’t have much stopping power.

I have been checking the road to my work. It look pretty safe as the shoulder is wide for most part and there is a real bike path for the more urban part.

That is awesome! Riding a bike to work would be a great way to get some extra movement. I have wanted to for years but I work in an industrial area and I don’t think I would live more than a week!

I live in a becoming the suburbs area. Here it is not traffic volume but traffic speed that is the issue. But I don’t have to deal with semi or large trucks.

Thursday, snow storm. Yes we had very little snow this winter so today we got a solid 8" of very wet white stuff.
Perfect for snow ball fight!!! or snowmen building if you are more civilized.

Monday, eclipse day!

It was pretty special at work, morning was very busy and it got dead quiet an hour before. So I had the chance to see it as some co worker brought extra glasses to share. We got 55 seconds of full eclipse with a clear sky.
