Donnerschweer: Lifting, MTBing and rehabing

Physio day, 3rd session

I can start doing some light leg stuff, no pain permitted.

10 minutes bike, this is so boring but I get a good sweat out of it.

Wide lat pull down 2x10x90lb, 2x10x95lb, Leg press slow 2x20, 2x20x20lb, Seated row narrow neutral grip 4x8x115lb

Deadlift 10x65lb, 2x10x75lb, Hammer curls 3x10x20lb db, Abs crunch 3x20x20lb ball

Leg work felt easy, but I know I don’t fell pain right away, I will see tomorrow how it is. I would call this movement more then work. But it is a start and I don’t want to know what is the breaking point of that bone.

26 day post op, I think. Not yet completely free but getting there.

No pain from the previous leg work.
Last night I even venture on a short nature walk

10 minutes of torture on the bike.
I don’t know how 10 minutes can be that long even with good music.

Squat 10x35, 40,45 ,50, 50lb/OHP neutral grip 10x20lb db, 4x8x22.5lb db/Bench 5x3x95lb

Russian twist on ball10x12.5lb, 3x10x15lb/Leg curls 10x30, 35, 40, 40lb/Skull crusher 10x30, 3x10x35lb

Feel good, leg curls use to hurt/feel like my tibia would burst from the torque. Not this time.
Also I can feel the muscles of the left leg doing some work. Still have to figure out how the place my feet for the squat as my left foot is tracking differently after the plate and screws removal.

That was probably a bit much. This morning my knee is a bit stiff. I feel some pressure but no real pain.

Feeling better after after a chiro visit.

Today’s question: change my truck or run it into the ground. There are some AMAZING year end deals. I could trade my old but low millage F-350 king ranch monster (read 4 doors, 8’ box, dually) for a much smaller/practical not such a fuel guzzler F-150 4x4…

What to do?

Stupid me did some acrobatics in the stairs with my big ski-doo boots and my leg and knee hurt.
Paranoid me is taking the week off.

So I kind of just lay low and let my leg rest. My physio think the most of the pain is from the quad attachment.
Blue lotion seem to help too.
Still holding back on slapping some dmso dexamethasone mix.

Tonight we are getting my boyfriend a new car and I am keeping my monster for a bit longer. Still cheaper to pay the fuel and I just love it.

1 month and a bit pass surgery

Knee leg feeling ok.

10 minutes of easy bike

Pull up 5-5-3/Seated row neutral grip 3x8x105lb/Patterson step up 3x10
The step up are hard on the knee and I don’t feel any muscles working.

Trap barre 3x10x65lb/Incline reverse crunch 3x12/Twisting knee raise 3x10 per side
Trap barre got better with every set

Face pull 3x10x50lb/Calf raises 3x15/Landmine row single arm 3x8x10lb added

I feel a bit of heat around the knee but no pain.

Tuesday Jan 14, 5 week ish post op

Physio in the morning, things are looking good.

Tripped onto my physio at the gym. He looked tired, saying the coach kick his ass. I call it pay back for the discomfort, he take pleasure, he inflict on us the poor patients.

The Work Out

5 minutes assault bike

I feel the step up mostly in and around the knee (tendon/ligament) during the left leg. Coach and physio agree that it is normal and part of the suck it up rehab. It is discomfort during the movement not pain.

Ortho visit, short.
He looked at the scare, ask to see flexion and extension and said I can go back to work. But won’t give me a new paper so I could start earlier.

2 more weeks off. At least seem like some nice weather is coming so a lot nature walk with Lucifer.

Mon, Jan 20, week 6 post op

40 mi utes walk in the fluffy snow with Lucifer.
Still cold.

Gym night, pretty crowded.

5 minutes bike

Patterson step up 3x12/Seated row wide neutral grip 3x8x105lb/Lat pull down narrow neutral grip 3x8x105lb

Box squat 10x65, 2x10x75lb/Shrug 3x10x35lb db/Land mine abs rotation 3x10/Face pull 3x10x45lb

Got a few ladies, from the boot camp class, asking about my leg and the fact that they had seen me on crutches. They were impress by my lift. It is funny they never notice me before the surgery, when I lifted a lot more. Or it is because I still lift more then them after an obvious injury.

2 more weeks of light stuff before decreasing the volume and pushing the weights up.

I can only cope forca short time with my big brother. He is a unhealthy couch potato with major heart issue. He is happy to do nothing, sitbon his ass and eating is his hobby. But as per him is time is counted. I bet in 5 to 10 years, they will be able to 3D print him a new heart. But he use his condition to not help himself.
2 hours of my life suck was enough for few weeks. Or I get aggressive and want to beat him but it is a waste of energy.

It seems like getting the screws out has helped big time.
