No training. Helping my sister move in today

Side note: I quit that job! Pretty happy. The final straw was the boss scheduling me all day today without asking when I couldn’t work all day. I told him I could do 11-3 but he said don’t come in at all. He also tried to lie to me and say I had been working all day most sundays and 11-3 was only a recent thing. That is entirely false and my coworker called him out when we were talking about it. Pretty happy to be away from that place

Happy belated birthday!!
Also, nice work on the deadlift PR, that is awesome!
Also also, that job/boss sounds awful. The bar won’t be high to find a replacement. Hope you get a great one.

I officially hate you. Happy birthday young man, please keep winning at life so old guys like me can live vicariously through your excellence.

Thank you. I cannot put into words how it felt to read that. It is the birthday of my uncle who passed from cancer on the night of my highschool graduation. That phrasing reminded me of him so much. Again, thank you so much for that simple post. You made my month!

Movement

Limber 11

20 min Aerodyne

Notes:

  • Just to get blood moving. Pretty wore out from the weekend and helping move yesterday
  • I intended to do this without any music or anything but I grabbed my phone half way through and started journaling. I realized how much happier I am than this time last year. At the same time, I think my current biggest issue is I am not chasing any of my desires. I have a surface level ones but the deeper desires of love and community just aren’t being met. I know I have people who love me but it’s just weird. I want to get involved in some sort of community but I think going to strongman Saturdays and training at the gym more will take care of that. The biggest part of that stems from me not being a fan of my college. I do not doubt there are people like me that attend but there are no clubs or anything similar that interest me so I will find community outside of it.
  • Put in job applications today. Having something is better than nothing.
  • I want to end with this. I truly believe my want to better myself will lead to great things but damn the path just sucks sometimes.

Conditioning

10min EMOM:

  • 2 SSB @ 155lbs
  • 1 sandbag pick @ 200lbs

Notes:

  • Fuck. Lots of self doubt during this session. Where the fuck did this come from? Maybe I’ve been eating too little and fucked my calories up. Maybe I have doubt with this comp coming up. Either way I’m going to move forward and keep it up.
  • I think it’s the eating that got messed up. Weird to eat big portions and not be training hard so I ate less. Lesson learned
  • It has been raining and gloomy all day the past 3 days. Threw off my walking and sunlight exposure. Going to see family to see if that makes me feel better. Could be the depressing weather messing with me
  • Can’t wait to get back to normal lifting. My body needed this deload but Jesus it is boring

4th Annual Rougarou

Overall: Tied for 4th with 5 competitors in the weight class

Event 1: Circus DB for reps: 95x5

Again happy with performance.

Event 2: Max deadlift: 405lbs

Nothing amazing

Event 3: Fingal Fingers: 60 sec x 7 reps

Event 4: Carry: 50 feet; 200lb sandbag, 200lb hussafell, 200lb keg: 50.1 secs

Super happy with performance here. The slip part was hilarious but even more surprising I got the 3rd fastest time even with the fall! The event director told me he had never seen someone slide with the keg!

Event 5: Keg to shoulder: 165x6

Overall:
I think I’ve found my sport. Happy with performance and had a super competitive weight class but I want more. This shit is fun and I am in for it. Next up is Louisiana’s strongest man in April. Until then, Brian Alsruhe’s Strongman powerbuilder. Placing seems within my grasp, just need a little more experience. Also proud to be the lightest one in lightweight. My strength feels good and I’m ready to attack the next challenge

Weights for Brian Alsruhe’s Strongman Powerbuilder (BASP):

Yoke max: 500lbs
Farmers max: 225lbs
13in DL: 390lbs
DL: 385lbs
SSB Squat: 270lbs
Log C&P: 155lbs
Cambered CGBP: 180lbs
Axle DL: 375lbs
Axle Continental C&P: No idea (Normal Axle C&P of 180lbs)
Circus: 105lbs
Front squat: No idea (Probably 50lbs less than SSB)
Log Incline bench: 205 (said to base off regular bench)

Goals:

  • Complete all parts and conditioning workouts. May not be at the same time of the main work, but conditioning can be done separate if that’s what my schedule requires
  • Not miss workouts
  • Push myself
  • Smart substitutions and weight selections

Notes:

  • Went lighter than what I know I can do. Basically setting a training max but I will adjust weights if I need to
  • Some days require me to go to the strongman gyms, some do not. Cool more time management
  • This should be fun and I am ready for the challenge.
  • I don’t feel as if I need a deload. This comp wasn’t that taxing and I feel pretty good. Will do some recovery work later today. This week is going to be hectic and I will compress the sessions to Mon-Thurs. Weekend plans so we have to get to yes.

Events for April Comp
Max Log
13" Axle DL ladder
Hercules Hold
Yoke/Sandbag run
Power stairs

awesome effort and result on the day. Thanks for sharing the vids. That keg slide was pretty awesome. Shame you had to roll it back. Well done.
