Conditioning

4:30- 30 weight vest burpees

  • 15 burpee chins
  • 15 normal burpee

Notes:

  • Was getting a stitch walking my dogs this morning so easier conditioning was a must
  • Probably dehydration and electrolytes for the stitch but I’d rather play it safe

I’m honestly considering this a ā€œtrainingā€ day

IDK if this was intentional or not, but either way completely fitting.

I limit my red meat to my daily monster mash, but i swear one of these weeks soon im gonna switch that up to burgers. Just sounds so good lol

I’ll go with it was intentional rather than me not being able to type on my phone!

BTM W3D1 (Beating the monolith today)

Time: 1:18 (Damn that’s a while)

Squat: 255x5x5
Press: 125x5, 100x10
Chins: 13x10 (130)
Dips: 13x10 (130)
PA: 100

Notes:

  • Widening squat stance helped with losing tension in the bottom
  • I think I have an issue with my glutes not working entirely in the squat
  • Squats were hard. Going to the store to get some milk to throw in for the rest of this cycle. For the first time in a while, I can gladly say, with the training I’m doing, more calories will not hurt me. As @T3hPwnisher once wrote an article about, eat through sticking point is becoming the move
  • Also wanted to add, I’m not sure if the weight is too heavy or I just need to grow a pair (hate to sound douchey but it gets the point across). Last set of squats felt easier than the 3rd and bar speed isn’t slow (slows in sticking point) so I’m thinking it’s a case of manning up
  • Took BAMF by Bucked up before this session. I like the tingling but all those stims made everything feel like a triumphant effort. Cool but not for every session. My favorite preworkout still is Edge of Insanity from Psyhco Pharma
  • Time and stuff explained in the next piece

Mindset Manifesto from today/last night:
I had this thought that I was losing in life last night. In reality, I don’t think I am but to my extreme personality, it sounds better to be ā€œlosingā€ than just coasting. At least with losing, I have room to improve. (Just as a sidebar, I realized I’m doing pretty good but my drive tells me to get and do more.) This came to fruition with dips today. I felt pretty tired after the press work but I was going to beat my last session by any means necessary. This resulted in taking more time and rest pausing sets of 10 but I got it done. Going to push this mindset more in everyday life and see what happens.

Hugh Cassidy dude! One of the greatest champions of all time, and he trained Marty Gallagher, who trained Coan and Kirk. You couldn’t ask for a better pedigree!

Ah. Just googled it and found the Chaos and Pain article but I know I’ve read it somewhere on your blog too. After reading the Chaos and Pain article, I realize I need more milk and possibly some bagels (Eric Bugenhagen video for that one)!

BtM W3D2

Tabata Bike Sprints- 8 rounds

Notes:

  • Feeling tired overall. I think it’s just general fatigue from BtM
  • This was my get to yes. Spent 20 minutes looking for what WOD I wanted to do and decided to do the bike sprints and see how I felt. Not the best sleep last night
  • I think I’m getting enough conditioning in but we will see
  • Might do something before BJJ tonight but we will see

BTM W3D3 (blooding the monolith this round)

Time: 1:20 (for good reason)

DL: 290x3x5
Bench: 175x5x5
DB Row: 80: 17,15,15,15,15
Curl: 45
RH: 200x26,20
Incline Sit up: 30
Hold: 1:10

Notes:

  • I got a bloody nose benching. Pretty excited because that’s pretty metal. I don’t think its anything serious health related just because I’ve been having sinus issues and probably reopened something there
  • Got my 2nd set of deadlifts recorded. Will be uploading. Looking muscular deadlifting with the downlighting
  • Hand panned out ok. Had to tape my fingers and use straps for pulls
  • Time ran long just because of the bloody nose. Wanted to make sure it was finished before I touched the bar again (Max of 10 minutes added if that)
  • Been sleeping in because schools in a limbo period until finals. Its nice but I do like to get up earlier
  • Been reading plague of strength and the ā€œCarve your legend into iron and fleshā€ hoodie is so damn cool

Thanks. Still trying to figure it out. I copied the link from the short but maybe since it’s a short it won’t be on the post?

You were still over-complicating it, haha. Just post the link next time. No asterisk/bullet.

Nice deadlifts bro, and outstanding choice of tunes.

Squats are definitely a very mental exercise. For me, when they start to get heavy they are also very dependent on my technique and how good my brace is. If the bar moves even 1 inch off the center line then it feels a lot lot harder. Maybe this is not a case of manning up but more case of focusing even harder on technique.

Looking swole, dude. Nice work!

Thanks! I’ll meet you in the middle and do both! My technique is messed up just because I’m finally able to fully utilize both legs again so it’ll only improve from here!
