Notes:
- the gym I was getting ready to leave because of time and not training strongman right now is getting a hack squat and leg extension. That’s literally going to make me comeback once I finish this massing phase
- Tried JT Meleck whiskey today. It’s a 100% rice whiskey from Louisiana. Amazing stuff
I’ll second this recommendation, it is a great book and one I refer back to.
Also recommended to me by Pwn was ‘Never let go’ Dan John. I love this book.
I have Tactical Barbell Mass Protocol too and it is a good read, but not one I have gone back to yet.
25 hours, one trip across town, 19 wings, and 25ozs of beer later the ribs are done:
Got a little burnt (not use to my mom’s broiler) but I will try them tomorrow. Non pull back on the bones is a little sketchy to me but they are cooked
I second this. Great book.
@TrainForPain What’s your favorite meadows program? The gym I’m at is finally getting a hack squat/leg press and a leg extension/curl machine so it seems his programming is an option again! (Which I’m super excited for)
Granted I’m planning for down the line but I’m going to have to put money away for it
Note:
- I’m going to lift today at some point. Lots of stuff going on and I have to actually travel to a gym but it will happen
What would you like to play with most? Volume, frequency, “power building,” etc? How bad are your joints?
One of, if not the, favorite for me was the “Muscular Demolition” (program 9) that used to be free on this site as “Reactive Pump Hypertrophy”. Someone with internet archive skills could probably find it.
Probably 5 days a week max. I’ve done unity before but power building isn’t huge for me. My knees and hips are fine if I keep up my prehab/mobility. I will say unity didn’t leave me with any joint pain
I’ll have to look. Digging through that is my favorite!
Gamma Bomb
Holy crap that’s large price tag!
They do Memorial Day sales. High Evolutionary and Grandmaster are both awesome, and 1/2 price because they’re 6 weeks.
I do recommend the free one, if it’s still out there, though for that reason. See how much you even love the style.
He also had a program in EliteFTS’ Make a Wish book (3, I think) if they resell those.
Or, you can do just fine trying his programming out either by:
- Using the “build your own mountain dog program” series on his YouTube. I’d recommend this. I was shocked it wasn’t the most popular thing ever.
- Reading his articles on here.
I’m always happy to weigh in. I’m not a 275 lbs monster, but I personally do really well with his methods.
I gotcha! I’m not typically one to complain about price but I had just never seen that large of a price tag before (if I remember correctly unity was $100). I’ll see if I can find the free stuff and run it to decide. Thanks for your input! I will have more questions!
Otherwise, wait for Memorial Day and grab one for half off. I’d do Grandmaster in that instance. I like the base programs better than PPL.
I’m currently doing Creeping Death 2 (which is PPL) in my own log. I’d imagine I’ll start working back up a little heavier in about 3 weeks. Feel free to follow that along.
