Doing Dumb Stuff as a College Kid

And this would be?

Incidental side note: When he refused to tell me about the aura farming I told him there was a young guy on here that would explain it to me.:rofl: You are my interpreter.:rofl::rofl:

big back is basically our term for ā€œfatassā€. For example, my gf sent a picture of the girl scout cookies she bought in the family group chat so my mom replied ā€œbig backā€

Haha. Great!

I got that after the very 1st session and was worried it was gonna be a thing, but I realized it was because I took the ā€œdeep breathingā€ part as way too much of a challenge and was blowing up like a puffer fish in between reps, lol

This was probably my main selling point - knowing that until I can squat 225x50, I haven’t ā€œbeaten the gameā€. There’s replay value here!

And yeah, I’m worried about those complexes lol

Since they’re quite similar, do you remember how this compares to Juggeryoke? Of everything we’re talking about, BtM is actually what scares me the most. That nonstop giant set format just drains me. I blame the olympic lifting years where we would sit around for minutes just to do 1 single.

Make sure to use this addendum that Dan released to help better understand the program. This is legit from his publishers website, not a bootleg.

That might have been what caused. I read about the rib cage expansion and said ā€œbetā€ haha

Not pwn but I’ve run variations of juggeryoke for strongman comps while BtM I use for more GPP focus

Thanks! That’s extremely helpful

Juggeryoke didn’t stand out to me the way these other programs did. I remember appreciating the squatting for time thing, and seeing it as a challenge to beat and getting amped up for that, but his Feast program broke me much harder than Juggeryoke did. So in that regard, I’d say BtM is more of a nutkick.

I shudder at the mention. I’ve never felt more run down in 4 weeks haha

I could only ever do the program once. I did Feast/Famine/Ferocity 3 times, but on the second 2 runs, when it came time for Feast, I did a different program.

Whenever I re-run it, I want to do conjugate for the feast phase

@T3hPwnisher Do you just sous vide in a normal pot or did you buy one of those plastic containers? I’m fully onboard with getting one now haha

I did both. I used my instant pot to start but purchased a dedicated container

Gotcha. I’m eyeballing a kit with the sous vide, bags, and container for $120 since I don’t have any big pots

Time: 59:25

Push press (3 min rest): 115x10x10

Cable lateral raise: 20x3x10
Strict curl: 50x5x10

3 rounds: 20 reps HLR with block/RH

Notes:

  • Oh buddy today was one of the first portal days. Nothing in the workout itself was hard but I have been dragging ass all day. 1 weak cold brew (upon waking at 6am), 1 monster (at 10am), and 1 shot of cold brew at 3pm. If I didn’t have a log, this would have gotten moved but I don’t want the Deepwater veterans to judge me
  • There was a good 5 minutes pre and post push press so I could feel sorry for myself but after that it was ā€œquit after the next setā€ until it was done
  • I’m thinking about adding more lateral raises in to match the curl 5x10. Might as well
  • Exam is over so I’ll sleep like a baby tonight. I’m retaking this class so this was something I’ve taken before and I felt really good about it this go around
  • @T3hPwnisher I got the sous vide! Do you have any recommendations for first meat to cook? Everything sounds good so I can’t decide
  • I was supposed to go to a concert tonight but it starts at 8pm. The first band is a band I do not like but the second I like a lot. Honestly losing the $40 bucks and not having to go sounds way more appealing than going. I’m fucking beat
  • I had this on for the whole lift. I’ve been getting into EDM for study music so it happened to help me zone out and get this session done. This guys my favorite DJ currently

Push press: Last set of 10x10 at 115

You’re definitely getting the deep water experience there dude!

As for first time sous vide, I’d experiment with a steak. See what it’s like to have a steak cooked exactly to whatever temp you want and throw a sear on it when it’s done. Once you’ve got a feel for that, I’d look at foods you traditionally smoke and see how that goes.

I may have jumped the gun slightly! I found some chuck roast on sale so I’m using those for the 1st experiment. I have them dry brining right now and then following a recipe for 24hrs cook time

What’s cool is, you don’t need to dry brine for sous vide for the future. It’s the benefit of the vacuum seal and long cook. Chuck roast is delicious out of sous vide. I made mine a little extra magical by including some stock and butter in the bag when I sealed it.

Busy weekend. Didn’t lift but that’s not as big of a deal with my current schedule. I’ve been feeling off like I’m getting sick the whole weekend but we shall see

@T3hPwnisher the first sous vide experiment was a fail. Gf bumped it enough to where it shut off for a few hours (water got disrupted). Kind tragic but whatever
