Doing Dumb Stuff as a College Kid

I’ve read this too. If you like it, check out some other books by the co-author Larry Bond like “Cauldron”, “Vortex” or “Red Phoenix”. Very tech-heavy war fiction.

Was going to ask this as well. I really liked Barbarian and am curious if Weapons is going to be just as good.

Of course! The first 2 are some of my favorite comedy movies. I’ve heard some good stuff with the reviews so I’m excited

I have not. I’ll have to put it on my list! I really liked the announcement trailer for weapons that brought you to a fake missing persons report

I’ll have to check these out!

Yeah, Barbarian was really solid. I’ll watch Any movie with Justin Long, even the whack ones. Going in, I didnt know anything about Barbarian and I wasn’t expecting too much. It was nice to be pleasently surprised.

Now i’ve seen previews and have big expectations for Weapons. I hope it lives up!

Not a fan of the pistol squats.

Dan John had a good take on this.

“The people that CAN do pistol squats don’t need to do pistol squats. The people who can’t do them, shouldn’t do them”

He co-opted that from something Pavel said about lunges.

Also, in turn, the prowler/sled are awesome single leg workouts.

Speaking of which, do you know of any less noisy ways to drag a sled or prowler? I’m training in the morning again so I feel bad for dragging the sled but it takes a while to set up the prowler (it has wooden feet)

I’m fully aware of just dragging the sled in the afternoon but sometimes I just want to lift in the morning and be done lol

Best solution I’ve come up with is to take it out somewhere that doesn’t have a lot of people around. There’s a parking lot that’s a 3 minute drive from my house that I hit up for early morning sled sessions.

Do you have a long stretch of flat grass you can drag the sled? Less noise plus easier on the equipment.

@BrandonCrawford Spacing might be an issue but I’ve give it a shot!

Morning:

3 mile walk with dogs

Lots of shoulder health movements. Was debating lifting this morning but still sore from Wednesday. Shoulder extension is what I really struggle with and I found this this morning:

@FlatsFarmer Naked gun was a lot of fun! It felt like a modern naked gun. It’s worth a watch

Fantastic 4 was also very good. I enjoyed it a lot and my GF (who doesn’t like superhero movies) enjoyed it!

@SvenG @Friedrich @QuadQueen @simo74 Thanks y’all. He sees an oncologist next week so we will have more news then

Speaking of skin cancer, since I have vitiligo, I figured I was at an increase risk for skin cancer. I did some googling today and found a few interesting studies:

https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-021-99786-9?fbclid=IwY2xjawL_DRlleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFOUDYzUVJ0NWVBV2Qwd2g3AR6b733qyrObiCRWl4k1YpGU8xgDkxxFQqIiFNiCJoNJWVx_srwSun3S795IGw_aem_j_y7zmyZtOtFPYHfma6gaw

So, for me, there’s a non to possible negative correlation between skin cancer and vitiligo. Kinda fascinating

RE Lower PT. 1

Belt squat: 160x6,205x6,245x6,285x6,250x6
Banded Vertical jumps: 3x6

Notes:

  • Had 2 meeting with career counselors today. Final is Friday. Got into a bit of a spat with the GF. Went to walk dogs and just started ruminating on death and how it seems like the past 4 years it’s just been one thing after another. So I needed to move something heavy
  • Belt squat PR to get my endorphins. I have been wanting to rot and retreat to doing nothing all day. Very mentally tired and defeated
  • Will do GHRs, Adductions, and RH tomorrow morning. Planning to eat something good and healthy tonight, read, and meditate
  • Have to help move ex-sister in law this weekend so hopefully I can get my pause squats and hill sprints in on Saturday at minimum
  • @davemccright I strained my oblique sprinting this past weekend so bracing for Lower body movements is super uncomfortable. Do you know of any hip hinge/knee flexion movements for a home gym outside of nordics that would be more core friendly (I do have a cable machine)? Tagging you because showed me cool stuff like the KB summersault squat

Way to get it done anyway!

Thanks for thinking of me! I am definitely a big fan of both dumbbell hamstring curls(on the floor or on the bench) and single leg Cable hamstrings curls with an ankle cuff. The latter can be done lying on a bench or if you have a bar to hold your legs down for Pulldowns, you can set that up in the rack to brace your leg against for standing Hamstring curls.
