Just a quick one, is it possible to complete this program in 6 weeks by training legs twice per week? I have incredible recovery, so much so I train legs 3x week atm with 5x5 squats at 80% 1rm then high reps (15-20) on accessories totalling 6 excersises per work out and still recover in time for the next leg day.
Just to give a little more info. I am 5ft 9, 78kg and 27 yo. I’ve been training just over 3 years. My squat 1rm as of Monday 23rd is 240kg and my last squat session before this was 187kg 5x5. I have been increasing my squat 5x5 weight by 2.5kg per week for the last 10-12 weeks.
I’m pretty sure 240kg is decent for weighting 78kg
The body can only do things at certain speeds. You can’t speed up hypertrophy by trying harder. It’s just a repeated process of muscle stress/stimulation, recovery, repeat.
What’s your actual 1 rm? Height… Weight age and how long have you been lifting? My guts telling me you are not squatting 5x5@80% of your true 1 rm. when’s the last time you added weight on your working sets on squats?
Genuinely after advice, if the general consensus from people more experienced than me is that it will lead to less than optimum benefits then the likely hood is that, at least statistically speaking, it will not be worth it
I used to do my compound lifts (squat, bench, deadlifts and military) once per week for around 6 months but progress was really slow. Since do all 4 3x per week they’ve got up quite dramatically which is what lead me to the conclusion that I must have good recovery abilities. My squat has gone from 220kg to 240kg in 9 months, my deadlift from 210kg to 225kg(not true max as wasn’t max effort) bench I’m not sure as haven’t done 1rm but previous was 150kg bit my 5x5 is now 143kg so that’s definitely increased and same with military press max was 100kg but 5x5 is now 87kg.
Maybe changing it up to once would shock the system in new ways?
