I deal with it every night. Trying some ZMA and other crap. I want to get off the Ambien. The anti-depressants will start working soon. Keep trying to train, that will help.

Welbutrin does give you the night wakies until you adjust to it. Happened with my wife for the first while.

Good point Tony. My wife had the same problem. The doc dosed her with Effexor on top of it. That proved to be an ugly combo for her. Just try to stay keenly aware of the drugs side effects on you, and inform your doctor.

I’ve been on Prozac for about 7 or 8 years now. I found that I lose my jobs far less often. SSRIs take about 4 weeks to really start working, so be patient. Also, it can take up to a year to get the right dose dialed in, because there is no mg/lb chart for them, just depends on your noggin chemistry.

2 things have really helped my sleep lately. I do poor-man’s ZMA every night at beddy-bye time, 1200mg magnesium and 150mg zinc. I also started using breathe-rite strips, and they help quite a bit. I only wake up twice/nite instead of 5 times. feel damn near human when I wake up.

Hang in there George. things are going to get better for you, countertops notwithstanding.

Wilson, ZMA screwed me up. I ordered some Z12 for my wife, to see if she could get off the Ambien. Get it and read the label…says not to take it if on ADs.
So, I decided that I would take it. I LOVE this stuff! I sleep better than on melatonin and feel better in the morning (don’t have the mild hangover melatonin gave me). I’ve also started the breathe rite strips, like MJ mentioned. They seem to keep me from getting as congested.

Just a thought…

Thanks for the thoughts guys.

The insomnia has been going on much longer than I’ve been on the buproprion (generic Welbutrin). but I have got a couple of night sleep but it took 5 beers, 3 ZMAs, 4 Z-12 caps, 12 mg of melatonin, 2 over the counter sleep aid tabs and 2 benedryl tabs. I can’t do this very often. Last night I took nothing and and drank no beer. Then I merely dozed on and off all night. In bed a good 9 hours and had no more than one or two 90 minute stretches of sleep.

Starting into working out again slowly now.

Bike 3 miles warm-up
Bench barx10, 65x10, 85x10, 95x5
Working sets: 115x5, 135x5, 150x5

Bike 3 more miles, total of 6, ride to Salina = 235 to go

Reset my training max to 175. Not much but at least I’m starting again. Started treatment with an acupuncturist and talking with a stress management nurse and both stressed the need to just start again. Just like you guys told me. But somehow mustering the get-up-and-go got up and went for a while. I’m going to stick to the main lift and only the reps for a while. Keep up with the indoor bike and try to do Wado in the evenings at least once a week. Keep me honest guys…

Welcome back George
nice way to come back.

an active body will eventually give the mind peace.

There almost has to be some time set aside to grieve for a bit as well before one can move forward. It never feels good, but seems to be necessary for resetting oneself. Annoyingly, it can’t be rushed, unfortunately.

You’ll come roaring back when you’re ready.

Wise words

George, great to see you starting up again!

Just keep suitin’ up and showin’ up. The motivation will return.

Thanks for the thoughts all

The acupuncturist warned me that symptoms might get worse. Didn’t sleep only dozed on and off all night even after 5 beers, 3-ZMA, 4-Z12 and 12 mg of melatonin. The ZMA and Z-12 used to do it for me.

Dark thoughts have been plaguing me all day despite keeping busy working on the house, or maybe because of the house. I wish we could just get out now and totally change our environment. But the friggin’ counter tops are still not back from the manufacturer.

Last I heard, they had to totally remake a section. Maybe Monday as they promised but I’m not expecting anything. At least the contractor is getting the trim finished and we’ll soon be able to rearrange the house.

You guys have seen half of the room (in my training videos) where Iâ??ve been living for the past 18 months. Hereâ??s the other half. I’ll move into a real bedroom once we rearrange the house.

Glad to see your posts…

Wish you well.

Mike

Hang tough, George. Things WILL get better. Take it one day at a time…and one step at a time, if necessary.

You to do whatever you need to do to keep pushing ahead George. Good luck.

The Ambien worked for once and I conked out for 7 hours straight. Didn’t help my mental state though. Having a tough time doing anything constructive.

Hey George,

Sounds like a rough time. Have you been able to keep up on the Wado? Back when I was still mobile enough for martial arts, I found that Karate always put me in a better frame of mind.

I hate to see you suffer like this, but I know from experience it will get better.
