yep - but in this case my mood improved the day before I started sleeping better

Bike 3mi ride to Salina - 264 to go
Sh rehab, face pulls, dislocates
Squat barx10, 115x5, 135x5, 165x3
Working 190x3, 215x3, 240x6
SSB squat 140x10 3 sets
Knee raises 10x2 sets
Plank 60sec

First time doing SSB squats. Bar weighs 50 pounds, so I thought putting 2 45’s would be cool. Whoa - fuck that is different. Hammered my quads and had me sucking wind. Gonna take a couple of time to work my pansy ass up to 5 sets of 10.

Took my blood pressure at the grocery store today 160/100 - shit… gotta start tracking it morning and evening now to see if that is typical. It’s the highest that I’ve seen for me.

Cool bar! Looks like a lot of fun, good work.

Nice work, Dog!

SSB squats can kick the shit out of you until you get used to them. Whole new set of muscles. Good work. Get some sleep.

Thanks all - pete I wish i could sleep now, but the boy is out bowling with friends until late, so I’m up until late…

Great job with the new toys.

paint always messes with my sleep.( not that I sleep well)

Great job, Soldog. And you’ve got some knots showing on your lower thighs. Looking good.

Hey Soldog,
Have you been sleeping?

Just off Heavy lift?
My BP is high for a day or 2 after Deads/squats…

You’re a big boy, right size cuff?
Store ones are too small for me, gotta remind the nurse at the doctors nearly every time… Not bragging, to high Body fat for that…

All of these can give you weird readings…

Best of,
Mike

Sleeping is not great but a bit improved. Friday was just before squats and 2 days after MPs.

I’m not that big at 6’ 1", my arm size is pathetic.

High BP runs in the family and I’ve been borderline for a long time. I have a cuff at home that I will be using here and there to get a better idea of what is going on.

Bike 3 miles: race to Salina 261 to go
Sh. Rehab, face pulls, dislocates
Bench barx10, 85x5, 105x5, 125x3
Working 145x5, 165x3, 185x3

Playing with bands for assistance:
Orange band (jumpstretch micro) barx10 2 sets
Red band (jumpstretch mini) barx10 2 sets
Red band (jumpstretch mini) 65x10 2 sets

DB BO row 100x10 3 sets

Bands were interesting; first thing I felt was the need to actually â??rowâ?? the bar down, last thing I felt were fried triceps…

Sweet! I need to get me some bands.

Wait, 255 to go on the 16th, and 261 to go today? Did you turn around or something?

Nice work with the bands.

bad math and missed that day when I looked back

252 to go would be more like it…

Those squats looked really solid, especially your knees. Didn’t see them move/cave (like mine do).

Its great that you’re biking and lifting. Get the cardio and strength training in. You may just need a small does of a BP med. High BP can happen to people in great shape (like you) as well as the couch potato. Family history is a bitch sometimes.

I’ve never tried lifting with bands. Looks real interesting. Good going on the 185s, looked strong. Don’t try no shortcuts on the stationary bike, Math is watching you.

So Eco’s 2010 goals thread made me think about mine for this year (at least lifting related goals)

Hit and maintain sub-200# BW
MP 155# (+20)
Bench 230# (+20)
Squat 330# (+40)
Dead 415# (+40)

compete at least once in 2010 and bump my total:
Squat: 122.5kg (269.5lbs) → 140kg (308#)
Bench: 80kg (176lbs) → 95kg (209#)
Dead: 170kg (374lbs) → 185kg (407#)

total: 372.5kg (819.5lbs) → 420kg (924lbs)

Bike 3miles warmup + 3 miles after Ride to Salina: 246 to go
Deads: 135x5x2, 165x5, 195x5, 225x3
Work: 255x5, 285x3, 320x5 Baseline PR
could’ve done more but I still feel the lower back starting to give way and round, so I’m content to stop

BBB (-) 165x10 3 sets
Stopping these as my lower back fatigues too much to feel like I keeping at least a flat back.
