Did you at least get a turkey leg at the Ren Faire?

had a steak-on-a-stake, a sausage-on-a-stake and shared a turkey leg with my daughter along with several beers - I had my son drive home, lol

those squats looked easy. They always do when it’s someone else doing them though right? You didn’t look like you were straining at all. I could only tell my your breathing. The meet is coming up fast right?

The bike trip sounds like a lot of fun. We like to cycle a lot too but it’s mostly flat terrain.

btw, what are bbb?

Thanks ouro, when I look at the video, they look a lot easier to me than they felt at the time and I wonder why I stopped.

The meet is July 16-18, so three weeks from Friday.

BBB = Boring But Big it’s the nomenclature that Wendler uses for the primary assistance work for the 531 template. supposed to do 5 sets of 10 reps at 50-60% of your training max for the primary lift.

the peter estin hut looks like the ski patrol shack at brighton. During my ski bum phase, when I was a lifty for night skiing, we would get terribly drunk and crash in the ski patrol shack because it was (a) heated, (b) had those medical table/bed things, and (c) had blankets.

George you are looking good!!!

and the bike hut is pretty cool too

Thanks mj, kmac!

road Bike 2.1 miles, 12 minutes warm up
Training max = 260
Squat Barx10,
105x5, 135x5, 160x5

BBB squat 135x5

Last day of deload. Planning to go do a real mountain bike ride tomorrow morning. Gotta try and get in some kind of biking shape.

Only three weeks until the meet! That’s exciting.

Do you think bicycling and weight training are complimentary? I haven’t really noticed that one has really helped the other, but it hasn’t been detrimental either.

I don’t really know. Weight training probably helped out with biking when I first started because I was so weak but after a while and putting on some muscle it may be detrimental because of the extra weight in the upper body. The cycling hasn’t really hurt my weight training because I’m not cycling at a frequency and duration to hurt the muscles. The aerobic fitness is a good thing but not much carry over. Right now I’m doing both because I enjoy both and they both have have great health benefits.

You gotta enjoy the thing you do, and do the things you enjoy.

especially the stuff the keeps you in good form both physically and mentally.

6/25/10
Bench Training max = 185#
shldr rehab, pushups 10x2
Barx10, 75x5, 95x5, 110x5
Working: 125x5, 140x5, 160x5, 185x3
Assistance 105x10 5 sets
DB BO Row 90x10 5 sets

I didn’t rep out but did add a triple at my opener. It was harder than I like but I guess coming after the earlier sets of 5 that’s all right. I also didn’t get my butt out of bed yesterday early enough to go for a ride. Do have a ride planned for tomorrow and I will have to get my butt out of bed because, wonder-or-wonders, we have a house showing scheduled, the second one this week after months of having none.

Good training. Just my 2 cents worth. As long as you’re not doing 50 mile daily bike journeys the bike riding has to help with leg strength, especially those wild uphill sections. Luck with the house.

fingers crossed for the viewing

26 June 2010
Apex Park Mountain bike ride
2 hours total about 40 minutes of which was resting to allow my heart rate and breathing to recover
5.5 miles
1211 feet elevation
1600 kcals burned
Max Heart rate 167
Avg. HR 145

This was a tough ride, rocky, sandy, steep with killer switch backs. Cardio-vascular system needs help, I had to rest way too much on this ride. But it was fun anyway…

1600 calories? What are you eating? You’ll waste away!

your bringing water and snack with you during those rides right soldog?

I need to waste my belly away…

[quote]nlmain wrote:

I had a 2 liter camelback with almonds and M&Ms with me. Drank most of the water but didn’t eat until I got back to the car, there I had my jalapeno chicken salad waiting.

Of course the calorie burn is only an estimate based on the heart rate monitor I wear.

M&Ms…you’re finishing off a 32 oz bag, right?

Is it me, or do we all consider anything under 220 wasting away?
