starting in June, there is going to be a few days where I work from 5:30 am to 3:30 pm and then go to class from 6pm to 10pm. Since I am only going to get a maximum of four hours of sleep, will an extreme increase in calories (like 9 meals or something, not including pwo shakes) minimize muscle loss from the lack of sleep?

Obviously, getting in some extra calories along with minimal sleep will be more beneficial than eating a lesser amount of food and minimal sleep, in regards to maintaining muscle mass.
However, being forced into something like 4 hours of sleep freakin’ sucks ass, I know from experience.
So, yes, enjoy being awake longer, which somewhat enables you more time to consume more calories. However, get so sleep ASAP.
Oftentimes, when sleep gets down to such minimal hours, people get into the mindset of “what the hell, I’m already only going to get 4 hours of sleep, what difference does it make if I stay up for another 30 minutes”. Big mistake.
Also it should be noted that decreased amounts of sleep warrant insulin resistance, as mentioned in couple articles posted on this website already.
Edit: I meant to finish with, “This echoes the above suggestion to get to bed as soon as possible.”
