Does Anyone Else Here Collect Guns?

I plan to, kind of looking at Witt Machine and Tool for an inexpensive .223 that I could also use on the 10/22.

I’ve got my first break-action assault weapon on the way. They will have to pry my Chiapa Little Badger from my cold, dead hands.

I hope you do not qualify a semi auto as an ā€œassault weaponā€. By doing so you play right into the hands of those who seek to take them away. That is a semi automatic rifle. Or just a ā€œrifleā€.

Assault weapons (fully automatic) are already illegal, unless there is an exception and license for them to be legally and privately owned which is rare.

Those are decent, but the Surefire or Deadair Sandman are some of the best imo.

I have fired just about every suppressor on the market.

The real fucked up thing is - the European market is about 15 years ahead of us on suppressor tech.

I think from the other posts I have seen by him - he is being facetious lol.

Must be a pre 1986 receiver (preban) or you have to have a class 3 and 09 FFL with a manufacturers and R&D government approval. You can have them - you just have to have deep pockets.

It’s not semi automatic. It’s a tactical breach loading assault rifle in .22 LR.

Hey, what would you guys and gals think of us creating a forum section just for guns? Gun & Shooting Sports? Separate from Off Topic? Not politics, just gun stuff.

Guns and weight lifting is a good connection, though at one time i didn’t see the connection. It was around 1980 and at the gym the guys were shooting the bull as it typically happened. One guy said he doesn’t go anywhere without carrying a hand gun to protect himself. I replied that I didn’t need a gun to protect myself. Another guy then said, ā€œIf I saw you get out of the car with any intention of coming after me, I’d shoot you.ā€ At that moment I had a paradigm shift. I went out and bought a hand gun.

You might get more interactions if you were to broaden the scope of this section… As in, if you lead with ā€œGun & Fieldā€, you will lose a certain population of users (because guns kill people, ya know?). Not saying I’d personally miss those people, but still.

I think a section called ā€œNot Lifting but it Beats the Couchā€ or something akin to it would receive a lot of attention from those in the community who want to stay with their online friends, but don’t really lift. For example, theres a Hikers and Wilderness Voyagers thread which gets some traffic, and I know a good number of the ladies (and gents) on here like to go hiking. I think ā€œBang Sticksā€ would fit nicely into this category. It also fits in just fine with #off-topic though. :man_shrugging:

You guys are lucky. I went on a fishing trip recently and all my guns fell in the lake.

Mine too. Had to report it to the local sheriff’s office too.

What do you think I bought a boat for?

I lost all of my handguns reeling in a legendary fish on the Canadian border. While I was distracted with the fish three swarthy Canadian-looking men pulled them out of the St John’s river and ran off into Canada.

Jokes on them because handguns can’t be used for self defense in Canada. Justin Trudeau-Castro just said so.

Same thoughts, @Chris_Shugart. Not sure there’s enough posters discussing guns to warrant a sub forum specifically for those. Outdoorsy stuff in general - guns, shooting sports, maybe even archery, hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, etc. might all go well together and attract more posters than just guns/shooting.

Sadly, I agree which is big shame.

Thanks for the feedback. We don’t mind that the topic is narrow, as long as it’s a category you guys would populate and be interested in.

You may have noticed that we culled the forum categories a bit recently, mainly just getting rid of categories that didn’t get much traffic. (We just moved those threads into other categories, didn’t delete anything.)

If a boom-boom / shooting sports category doesn’t pan out, we’ll just move those threads into Off Topic again.

The Ruger 10/22 was my first gun. Thinking of getting another one and putting a bullpup stock on it. They’re just pure fun. Something like this pic.

You just made me add to my purchase list.
