Does Anyone Else Here Collect Guns?

Old stuff is cool too!

One of my favorite pieces is a m44 Mosin all matching numbers.

Love mosins. Ive got a 91/30 and an m38. The m38 was my first ā€œbig boy rifleā€ i bought when i turned 18. Cost $100 out the door. Shop took $20 off if i didnt take the cleaning kit. Lol. The good ol days of milsurp. A friend of mine got a 91/30 and a spam can of 440 round bulgarian ammo at a gun show that year for $125.

You ever use your fixed bayonet to spike watermelons at the range?

The numbers are tough to sift through with mosins because after the war most of them were re tooled and force matched. Ive never taken a deep dive to find out if mine are genuine or post war matched. You ever watch IV8888 on youtube? Hes got a ton of great info on milsurps.

He’s one of my fav channels. I’ve been watching him since they started when Barry was still alive and on there.

Man surplus ammo used to be so awesome. I remember paying 70-80$ for spam cans of 7.62x54r.

Same here. Barry was the man! Never would have known about cutshells without him.

Dude, with all the time in the world I don’t know how you’d rotate through that arsenal of yours haha.

Well being semi-retired on my own schedule has its advantages. :sunglasses:

Admittedly I do have probably around 50 guns I’ve get to shoot.

How do you end up choosing which guns to buy? Ive only ever considered purchasing weapons that serve a ā€œreasonableā€ purpose - so anything more than a pistol, shotgun, AR and maybe a bolt action just seems foreign to me.

(Of course, i dont have the kind of time/money you do either!)

Lol kinda just all over and if I see something that is interesting I buy it.

No real rhyme or reason honestly.

It’s funny, you find a reason.

  1. I need a shotgun. Buys a 12ga pump.
  2. I want a faster duck gun. Buys a 12 ga semi auto.
  3. I want a gun specifically for teal and wood ducks. Buys a 20ga semi auto.
  4. I want a gun specifically for sporting clays/skeet/trap. Buys 12ga O/U or SxS.
  5. I want a gun specifically for Turkeys. Buys a 12ga with 3.5 inch chamber.
  6. I want a home defense shotgun. Buys 12ga with 18.5 inch barrel and pistol grip.

And so on.

Now, could you use that first 12ga pump for all those situations? Sure. But just like with a lot of things, you start to put each gun in it’s own little niche and before you know it your filling multiple safes.

Just finished putting this together this morning:

Just waiting on the magazines to be delivered and need to grab some sights or a cheap optic. Chambered in .22lr for some cheap fun.

Some swag from the DD rep.

Got to shoot the MK18 and try out my own suppressor on it. He was cool enough to let me swap it out.

DD suppressors suck donkey balls.

I’ll get my hands on a proper SMG, even if just for a day. That looks like an immense amount of fun. Looks like you have a KUSA KP9 in there?.

Yes sir, I have the carbine version and a suppressed SBR version of the KUSA KP9. Fun little gun.

Wow….I would have paralysis by analysis with that safe. Unreal. I have only about 10 total varying but my ammo profile is:

9mm
45 ACP
5.56/.223
6.5
12 Gauge

This is about the max variety of ammo and I purchase guns to fit these calibers

Somehow I missed this thread. Nice pics! I buy, sell and trade alot. If I don’t really like shooting a particular gun I usually dump it. Out of dozens I’ve sent down the road, the only I regret is an HK USP 45. That thing was built for war, will get another one day.

I do enjoy fucking with guns, changing parts to get it right. Lately I’ve been obsessed with a 10/22 takedown that is pretty much an entirely different gun at this point.

Remington 870 Police Magnum trade-in guns are my jam. They are fun to shoot and the parts are cheap and plentiful. I’ve had 5, 3 were sold to friends and family. Unfortunately, the days of $240 trade-ins are gone.

The never ending 10/22 project.

You turned that little ruger into a ā€œfully semi automatic assault weapon!ā€ Lol

What kind of barrel you have on there?

The only gun regret i have is not buying an UZI when i had the chance. I was 19 and $500 was too much for me at that time (what a steal now). I walked out with a WASR10 instead.

Volquartsen. The original gun was not very accurate, so Volquartsen seemed like the answer. I haven’t shot it in a year, and not since I mounted it in the chasis. Hope to mount the optic soon, then take it for a spin. The final two pieces will be a bipod and a suppressor.

At this point all I need is another reciever, and I’ll have another 10/22.

10/22’s are just a lot of fun to shoot and cheap to shoot too comparably.

Suppress that bad boi

I have thought about this many times, but I am long passed that point. I have too many calibers, but I love diversity .

Keeping ammo and mags organized is almost a full time job.
