Does Anyone Else Here Collect Guns?

I got a 9 shot revolver (shoots 22 and 22 mag), with a broken transfer bar. It is a Taurus (which is maybe on the cheaper end?). I think I can send it in to be fixed, but heard that takes a long time.

Is this something a local gun shop could fix? About how much $ to fix. I like plinking with the gun, so having it operational is a goal of mine.

Their pro shop is where dreams are made.

I’m a huge sig guy. I always spend too much money in any elite sit dealer.

Taurus is on the budget end of revolvers, but they make a fine revolver. I’ve enjoyed many.

Sending it in to Taurus is going to take quite some time. A certified gunsmith should be able to fix it no issues granted they have the parts - which they probably don’t.

As far as how much - probably $100-$150 I’d guess.

Maybe I’ll call around a few places and see. I think I paid in the $400-$500 range for it a decade ago. I think it is a 922 model.

I’d be okay with that.

The 922 is about impossible to find these days.

Well we know where to go in the event of a zombie apocalypse. My friends think I’m crazy but in reality I only have 5 long guns and about a dozen pistols. My favorite firearm is my CZ scorpion. I kind of have one of everything I want though. The 6.5 creedmore for several hundred yards, the AR15 for mid range, a short barrel shotty for home, an over under for trap shooting, and a 10/22 for target plinking.

The CZ Scorpion is awesome.

I have the exact one you have too and a few others. The mags are cheap and they are just fun to shoot.

CZ handguns are also glorious. The CZ Shadow 2 is amazingggg.

Luckily most of my friends are gun nuts too, so they all share my form of crazy.

I’ve never collected guns but I did used to shoot competitively at a fairly high level. Had some really cool hand built race guns and stuff. Some days I miss it but mostly not lol

Not sure if this is the best thread for it, but what is everyone’s favorite round? .308? 6.5 Creedmoor? Doesn’t have to be brand specific.

Handgun and long rifle if you have preference (would add shotgun but we all know the answer is 12ga 00).

I have some purchasing to do when I get the hell out of California.

I have to break it down a bit more.

Favorite Rounds:

AR platform for overall - 556 (.277 fury might change my mind we will see when I get my MCX Spear)

AR platform for hog hunting - 308

AK platform - 7.62x39

Bolt action - 300 win mag

Pistol - 10MM

Revolver - 357 mag

If I had to pick rounds to carry for utility / overall any situation it would be an AR in 556 and a pistol in 9mm.

I would have a very hard time picking a favorite round… as you can see.

I heard many of the AR series’ didn’t handle the .308 well in the long run - has this been your experience too?

I would imagine that as long as you get quality components designed for the round, they would hold up just fine. 308 isn’t exactly a world destroyer in terms of recoil, but it’s a fair bit more stout than 556.

22lr is an awesome round. It can still be had at like .05 or .06 per round, so you can burn through a lot of it without feeling the hit on your wallet too much.

In terms of pure fun, 44 magnum is a rockin’ good time. And next range trip I’m going to try out some 30 US Carbine (which look like long 9mm rounds) from a magazine fed lever action rifle and I think it’ll be legit.

Has not been my experience at all.

I have done classes with a few 308’s and run them hard through mud and grime and everything else.

My favorite 308 ARs have been the Sig 716 (original with short stroke piston) POF Revolution (10 inch barrel SBR suppressed) and the Tavor 7.

I have run the shit out of them. My Sig 716 has around 25K rounds through it - no issues.

I concur.

22LR is a great round for training and kids and it is just fun. 22 MAG is as well. I have suppressed bolt action 22 mag and it is a lot more fun than you would think.

44 magnum is fun to shoot depending on the gun. At least a 6 inch + barrel. The rounds are just so damn expensive now. It is one that I reload though.

Another round that is fun with no recoil is the 5.7 - just hard to find and pricey as well.

My fiancee’s favorite gun to shoot is our Winchester 94 in 22mag - it’s always a crowd pleaser. Suppressed would be unreal!

So far I’ve only gotten to shoot the 44 out of a Ruger Carbine, but hope to get my hands on the big steel one of these days.

5.7 is like a unicorn around here, I’ve never seen it or anyone shooting it haha.

Suppressed 22 is just fun all around no matter the gun lol.

I have a tactical henry X lever in 44 mag suppressed - I almost forgot about.

Quite a few folks have them around me. I have a FN in 5.7 - I have thought about grabbing the newer ruger in 5.7 and the new keltech. I just don’t have as much time to shoot anymore with 2 kids.

Side note - I am going to a big Daniel Defense private showing Saturday for testing of their new lines - specifically the mk18 sbr.

Not the most expensive, but it is one of my favorite guns ever. Sig 556R - gen 1 v2 with the upgraded metal magwell.

I enjoy restoring old guns. Just finished an ithaca 37 16gauge (1952). My cz p10f in pic too. Next i have a remington model 11 (1927) 12 gauge, full choke, ribbed. Ive got plenty of modern guns, but i like playing with old stuff.
